Not every lifeguard has vinegar, I went to the beach a few weeks ago and got stung and they didn't have anything to help me

NO! DO NOT rip the tentacle off first because when they sting you, only 5% of the actual venom makes contact. if you tough it or move it, the other 95% will go off and youre done. pour the vinegar on FIRST then about 1 min later, remove the tentacle.

trust me we Aussies are experts at this shit :P

@username13245100 yeah I believe you. when people die of jellyfish stings, its because they usually don't know how to treat it (ignore it, pour fresh water on it, remove it with their bare hands, or scratch at it).

i wouldn't just rip the tentacle off unless you want sore fingers too, and vinegar makes bluebottle stings worse gets the poison into the body quicker or something like that, put salt water on the sting and grin and bear it like a man! the pain goes after about 1 hour.

i live in mallorca and i've got stung about 50 times no joking and you don't nead to put viniger you just stay in the water and that will do(don't get stung again :p

Ive been stung by both when i was 5!!!!! It hurts but u usually wont see them i havent seen 1 sense i was stung. Hes right though vinegar works

lol wow i've never known surfers to be so aggressive. viniger works, and the reason urine works is because it contains ammonia, which is also very helpful f

or jellyfish stings. but unless you have allergies, or unless you get a very bad sting(i.e. a lot of/prolonged contact with the tenticles) you'd be better off staying out there surfing and keep your adrenaline pumping so you wont feel it. you can pour salad dressing or piss on it when you get out, yea?

Not a very helpful video really but vinegar works, as does piss, if you're truly desperate. If its a bluebottle sting a hot shower does the trick. To be honest though it doesn't hurt that much and you can keep surfing, the pain will go but you might miss out on a wave!

Am I the only one that sees this clown as the Chamber of Commerce poster boy. Man-o-war(bluebottles) can kill. Most real beaches have signs posted and lifeguards that are trained in dealing with anaphylactic shock(normal reaction to man-o-war stings)

it's another species of jellyfish. some surfers call it "blue bottle" cuz it looks like a blue colored plastic transparent bottled mineral water that just floats above the water surface (which is actually their bell or head ) and it just goes along with the current. "manowar" is a shorter term for "Portuguese Man-o-War". they have really long tentacles and are really dangerous especially to those who have extreme allergic reactions to sea creatures.

bluebottles are not dangerous at all unless you have a severe allergic reaction or if youre a big girl and cant handle a little bit of pain. i got stung like 5 times last summer. and somehow im not dead!
