ok, i just wanna say that when i ride my motorcycle I ALWAYS wear a full face helmet and always feel cooler then everyone that either doesn't wear a helmet or wears a 3/4 helmet
As a motorcycle rider of 30+ years a brain-bucket/skid-lid/crash-helmet makes sense - Having owned 143 motorcycles and having a few accidents along the way, one where I trashed the crash-helmet I was wearing but walked... It might 'look uncool' but that don't mean Jack when your skull is bouncing off the asphalt through no fault of your own - If you drive a car you have to 'buckle-up' and that's with a 'cage' around you - If you care for yourself and yours, wear that protection for your head...
everyone in my family rides (even my girlfriend) and we all agree that helmets not only make safety sense they make riding more comfortable and look way cooler. anyone that is against helmet laws is a moron pushing their ignorant opinions under the guise of "rights" this guy proves the point ive been trying to make for years and in fact i laughed openly and loudly when i heard. maybe because im an asshole? yeah but im a right asshole
Karma is a bitch. He died doing what he loved, flying though the air.
You idiot, helmet laws were pushed by he medical community because they kept dealing with too many head injuries. And for people who complain about the cost of health care, why would you not be proactive in dealing with one part of the cost to health care - brain damage from head injuries. Come on, ignorance is no excuse.
You don't mean to say it with a smile!! But you do say it with a smile you fucking prick, get the fuck off your high horse asshole and stop bitching!!
I've been in an accident that if I had not been wearing a helmet I would have died. I also live in NY. With traffic and amount of cars a helmet is a must
I say always wear a helmet...when you want to. Seriously, stop legislating people's "irresponsible" behavior. Don't these people realize they're preventing survival of the fittest?
Of course, if Helmet Laws were abolished there would be a lot more fatalities (like this one), which means a lot LESS imbeciles around due to the increased number of them dying.
Few morons on the road is a good thing.
Now, if we can just engineer a way to make listening to those loud boom boom sub woofer stereos lethal,.. Again, reducing the population of idiots is a good thing.
Maybe we could just make all helmets and safety gear illegal - for all sports and motor vehicles,..
I think it's a great idea to wear seat belts and helmets, but I don't think it should be s law for adults. The choice should be the individuals. Next we will have the government telling us what we can and can't do on our own properties, whoops, they already do.
Its not just about saving lives, its about the fact that we have finite medical resources (ie only so many beds in hospitals, so many doctors etc) so if we have to pull doctors away to treat your dumbass, they may have been able to do a better job helping someone who wasn't a reckless bastard.
Also, if its not against the law, many people may not learn why its a good idea, or say "no one else does it".
For that reason, yes we can and should regulate responsibility within reason.
@siprus The definition of irony is "a state of affairs that is the reverse of what was to be expected; a result opposite to and in mockery of the appropriate result."
I don't think not wearing a helmet, and then dying because you didn't have a helmet, qualifies. It's the opposite of reverse of the expected.
Helmet laws aren't about saving lives, the reason I oppose them (even though I ride with a full face helmet and full gear at all times) is because it is a freedom aspect IF the government tells me it is unsafe to ride my motorcycle without a helmet because it is dangerous, when will they tell me that I can't ride a motorcycle because it is dangerous?
@tcormier321 By your logic, we shouldn't be forced to wear seatbelts. I mean, come on... its a slippery slop! Today we can't have the freedom to fly through the windshield... the next we won't be allowed to drive! Heck, that could go with drunk driving as well. Is it dangerous? Hell yes, but I guess it's not the governments place to ban it because we should have the freedom to do so.
Heh, Gary Busey sure wears a helmet now ever since he nearly was a brain-dead vegetable PERMANENTLY after he crashed helmet-less.
He was just LUCKY to have not died, and nothing but even LUCKIER to have fully recovered. And I'm glad: He's a good and cool actor, and I like seeing him in movies, and would have been sad if he couldn't do anything anymore but stare blankly at the ceiling from his life-long hospital bed. Yeah, what would have been so cool about that!? 'Coz that seems like teh SUCK
There should be a law that the persons are not liable to compensate the family of a victim or the victim, him/herself, who died because they didn't wear a seat-belt or helmet. Let people choose to die and suffer the consequences.
Funny thing. I live in Romania since a few years, and the thing about insulting the driver by putting on your seatbelt very much exists there. Get into a cab and start reaching for the belt an he'll go "no no you don't need that" and then he looks insulted when you put it on anyway. In most cabs the drivers actually have cut off the belts so that you CAN'T wear it.
Come on sweetie, wearing a seat-belt is not a pain in the ass, unless its clip in right on the ass! That would be an ass-seat-belt: it clips the ass right onto the seat and it's a pain in the ass. These ass-seat-belts are found in Chinese made cars.
Look at the hypocritical laugh at 0:33. So Big Brother could not save that Motorcycle Rider by making a Mandatory Law that you should wear a helmet and the fine is of what? $100? or Jail time. So the Rider thought the fine was too high or unfair die while protesting for not wearing a helmet, BUT THE IRONY by FIGHTING THE ESTABLISHMENT now the very same people(TYT) who encourage others to protest for any bullshit against THE ESTABLISHMENT laugh at the guy for not OBEYING THE ESTABLISHMENT? WTF?
@riseup The law can be twisted, more regulations for what? So another safety program goes wild and then i have to die protesting the damn thing? This is Chess not Checkers! can't be Pro-Establishment while hanging around people who is Anti-Establishment when the idea of Social Justice is MORE ESTABLISHMENT. Your ideology comes from a bunch of men who really didn’t believe in anything political opportunists who used opposition to integration to try and get themselves ahead via Regulations.Comrade
I don't agree with making a law that enforces motorcycle riders to wear helmets. I look at it as Darwinism. Soon we're going to have to deal with more population issues and the more people that can select themselves out in this manner the better for everyone.
The govt shouldn't bother with this and that but they should bother with what I smoke inside my own house, who I have sex with and if I watch pornography.
lol was it really insulting back then to wear a seatbelt? I can see why it would be kind of lame, because in a way wearing a seatbelt may or may not suggest that you are insecure about your driving abilities but...insulting? Wow, you learn something new everyday :O.
If you want to ride a motorcycle, you wear a helmet, plain and simple. Same is seatbelts. They are REQUIRED to drive by law. I know the harley dudes and dudettes wouldn't like this. But if I rode a bike I'd just get a crotch rocket and get a helmet and jacket that matched my bike. Make the helmet a cool part of your ride.
The same thing happened in Florida. The woman that got the helmet law repealed in Florida, died a week later after she went head first in a guard rail!!
Why is his campaign over just because of this accident? I dont think his point was that its safer not to wear a helmet, but that people should be able to choose whether its safe or not.
@MissesBindy It's not LITERALLY over. But when someone leading a campaign dies from the exact thing he wants, kinda gives the other side a lot of power because they can use you as an example of why.
@xxdiogenescynicxx I disagree. To reiterate the point they made, what if a motorist hits and kills a motorcycle rider not wearing a helmet. 1. They have to live with that the rest of their life. 2. If the collision was the motorist's fault do we charge the guy for manslaughter if he hit a guy on the motorcycle and he wasn't wearing a helmet? What if he could have survived? Or do we say the death wasn't the motorist's fault because he wasn't wearing a helmet? Just wear it so you "don't get dead."
@jvclark2 So, because there are reckless drivers out there, I should be forced to wear a helmet? What you're basically saying is that If a reckless driver hits me, he might get in trouble for his negligent actions, and therefore my liberties must be infringed upon. You will excuse me but I have to call bullshit on that one. It is my life and I alone am the only one who has the right to decide what is best for me. If I wear a helmet it should be because I think I'm safer, not because I'm forced.
@Grindermetalhead The only point I was countering was that "it only affects yourself." With all of BS laws we have, why are you opposed to a law with the sole purpose of saving your life? In the US we have 2nd amendment rights but that doesn't mean you can play Russian roulette out in the streets in front of a cop. Screaming "I have rights" only goes so far when it comes to safety. Why is this so much worse than seat belt laws? Helmet hair can be fixed, a shattered skull can't. Be safe and live.
I always wear a helmet. I always use a seatbelt. If they were not compulsory I would still do this. However, I do not believe it should be up to the government to force anyone to do so. If you are only risking your own safety and not the safety of others then it should be a personal choice.
He just wanted to ride his machine, without getting hassled by The Man.
I'm sure he was aware that wearing a helmet is safer than not wearing one. The point is it's HIS CHOICE to risk his own life. If he wants to ride around trying to look all sexy with the wind blowing his hair back, then that's his choice.
And, hey - if he dies, then that's just one less idiot passing on their genes. Everybody wins.
Had a friend get in a accident two weeks ago. He was driving and survived when the car flipped, but the guy riding shotgun within him (17 years old) was not and got ejected. He passed on impact. Just a kid.
Wear your seatbelt. Wear your helmet. Save your family some damn grief.
Ana sounded kind of dumb talking about the bikers. Bikers deal with a lot more wild car drivers than the other way around.
@CasteelVideos Just because they present their opinions doesn't mean that it's solid truth. There have been MANY occasions where the tyt crew even disagreed with themselves; and that's fine. It's the human experience after all. Nothing self-righteous about it. Just exercising the right to be themselves, much like you exercise the right to be you. :)
Motorcyclists are somewhere around 30 times more likely to die in an accident versus passenger vehicles, so yeah the devil-may-care attitude, fuck the law and the man, I'll do what I want is just a lame excuse. Michael Shure makes a good point in that there is some civic responsibility involved here, if you're on a public road paid with public dollars, you follow the public laws and take basic safety precautions.
I don't understand all of the people that think this is irony. He was protesting the right to decide for himself to either wear a helmet or not wear one. He was NOT protesting that riding without a helmet is as safe, or safer, than riding with a helmet. His death, regardless, was tragic. It was definitely not ironic and it is not hysterical. For reference I ride a motorcycle nearly everyday of the year and have been riding for 10+ years now. I think riding without a helmet is the wrong choice
@Amsah The definition of irony is: "Happening in the opposite way to what is expected". The rider never insisted that riding helmet-less would prevent death or was somehow safer than riding with a helmet. Riders know and accept the risks of being on a motorcycle. Riders that take it a step further and ride without a helmet accept a further understanding that they are putting themselves at even more risk of severe injury/death. They just want to be able to make the decision for themselves.
I wonder what the rest of the biking protestors did once that guy died in front of them. Did they all just pack-up and go home or did they continue to protest :-) ???
Why would you have a rule against something like this? If they don't wear a helmet they die. Nobody else gets hurt like with drunk driving. But my main point is that with such rules I couldn't gut-laugh like I do now.
He died not wearing a helmet while protesting a rule on wearing helmets. Its fucking hysterical! :D I would love to see his family mourn, even his father must be laughing all the way to church.
people shouldn't have to wear a helmet, the smart people will and they will be fine (or at least not dead) the stupid people wont wear a helmet and they will die, the gene pool needs a bit of cleaning and this is 1 way to do it.
I've been riding bikes for 14 years now. I have never ridden without a helmet. I once nearly rode off without my lid, but was aware that something was wrong and twigged that I didn't have it on.
Wearing a helmet is just normal, in the same way that wearing a seat-belt is. They both save lives and, in the case of helmets, your teeth. Being hit by a bee at urban speeds, with my visor up, is bad enough, I'd hate to think what it would feel like at 70.
Lets take "safety" to the limits here - If there are manditory laws that require Motorcyclists to wear helmets then howabout for cars too !
When people are killed in cars , it's largely do to the fact that their head was not protected by a helmet !
How would all the ladies and gentlemen like it if they were required to wear helmets in their automobiles as they go out on the town - they'd fucking HATE it !
Manditory helmet laws suck because they trump the freedom to choose for yourself !!!!!!!
@rolynstone48 I agree, everyone should choose if they want to wear helmets or not....but dumbasses like kaggyx thinks I'm for mandatory helmet laws. Poor reading comprehension from not wearing his helmet I guess....too many bumps to the noggin. LOL
Many people each year are killed on motorcycles and they were wearing helmets - all this phoney concern for safety reeks of special interest groups who score with helmet laws : insurance industry and helmet makers !
The only law that applies for motorcyclists is the Law of the Asphalt : it's your ass and its your fault - The State can just fuck off !
@rolynstone48 Um... insurance is less in states with helmet laws, so....
Many people die each year and they're wearing seat belts. Of course, it's a tiny percentage of those who die who aren't, so....
I think you should be able to ride without a helmet if you have insurance that guarantees the tax payers will never have to support you after your massive head injury.
You raise a valid concern as far as "tax payers" paying for it but that's a huge subject that is too extensive to go into - but I am an advocate of being free , even to the extent of being a fool rather than have my fate in betting tables of the insurance industry that is always hedging its bets in their favor and making me pay for it !
Helmets are good to use - but more important is my right to choose - and hope I don't end up on the six o clock news - those are my views !
@Buhma Correction. I never said you said mandatory helmet laws. You said that if we (motorcycle riders) get in an accident we're not entitled to healthcare. Seems you're too stupid to understand what I'm railing against you for...no wonder you resort to gay jokes (not a good one at that). The bottom line is that helmets cause accidents too, there I dumbed down my point for you, and we should be entitled to the same treatment nomatter which risk we choose. Here's a flashback Go fuck yourself
@kaggyx Poor reading comprehension...I said YOU pay for your OWN healthcare. Don't make us pay for your dumbass mistakes. Never did I say you shouldn't get healthcare....you should pay like everyone else you fucking moron. Bottom line, I don't give a rat's ass if you crash and die with or without a helmet....as long as you die...I'm cool with that. Have a nice day....moron.
@Buhma And why wouldn't my normal healthcare cover it? You said we would need a separate insurance policy for our motorcycles. You need to work on your ability to understand your own bullshit. And again...Go fuck yourself. You've shown you have no understanding of anything about motorcycles other than your ignorant opinion that motorcycles are going to affect your tax dollars. Why don't we make it so everybody on the road need separate policies. More people die in cars anyways
@kaggyx of course most people die in cars. At present time there's 62 million cars registered in the U.S, compared to 7 million motorcycles registered. And in my experience I probably see only 1 motorcycle per 1,000 cars, not to mention in cold seasons they are rarely ridden by those who own them. You do the math
@csplendrig You haven't read the rest of this. I was being sarcastic because this numbnut, Buhma, said that motorcycle riders should have to carry a second health insurance to ride without a helmet. The point I've been trying to make is there are many risks associated with wearing helmets. Some being heat exhaustion, limited vision and hearing, and increased risk of neck injury. The decision of which risks we'll take should be ours to make without added stipulations. I've done a lot of math
Seriously why do people hate safety laws? SERIOUSLY. If it's a life and death matter there should be regulations. If you really want to kill yourself there are plenty of other ways to do so.
Its not about killing yourself, and you sound like an idiot for trying to make it sound like it is. The only "safety regulations" there should be are those protecting others. If I want to take a chance that if gone wrong will only harm myself, that should be my right.
If you are an adult and you don't want to protect yourself with a helmet on a bike, or a seatbelt in a car, then live --or more likely die-- with the consequences. When this idiot died I thought 'good, one less moron in the world wasting oxygen.' Natural selection works people, I just hope this guy didn't reproduce. The only reason seatbelt and helmet laws exist for adults is for ticket revenue.
@Monverticus Yes it may have been 'one more idiot out of the gene pool'. But that man did have family and friends and his death will affect them negatively. That's why you shouldn't let them kill themselves.
@BakuhatsuShojo ..hahaha...lmao...yeah, i had an ex boss who thought the same, 2 months ago he had about 6 women attend his funeral when he wore a sub standard helmet. so, i guess in the end he got the women.
@GrasshopperScott It's lose-lose dude. High speed impact head injuries will likely splatter your brains outside your skull. Not a pretty picture even if they do manage to sew your face back together.
It's fucking stupid thatadults gotta wear seatbelts and kids gotta be in car seats but Kids in school Buses don't need shit, just let em bounce around while The school Bus flies off a cliff.
@nandansho Complete bullshit logic, you have there. Think again. Are fukking Crazy? Wait, I get it. You're a Kid, of course. When you grow up, rational thought will come.
@yeahsee33 Oh Fuck off Moron if you can't understand why I think Kids in school Buses should wear seatbelts that means your dumb ass rode that "short" bus ta school.

People have a right to do things that are dangerous, if the government had their way, hiking, surfing, sky diving, bungee jumping etc would all be illegal.
@stillrob420 This kind of freedom is illusory. Not only is the freedom trivial, but the law would have actually *maximized* his freedom. If a person is saved, say, by having been legally compelled to wear a seatbelt or a helmet, then that person’s opportunities to carry out future decisions have been made possible courtesy of said law.
@poolerboy0077 This has to be the dumbest comment on the thread. How the fuck is freedom maximized by the denial of freedom? When you're compelled to do something, it is the exact opposite of freedom.
@poolerboy0077 not even close, youre saying the law would of gave him freedom to have freedom another day, BUT what you dont seem to get is people even tho hard to believe want to live by their choices even if death is involved. Is it smart? prly not, is it rational, prly not, we are not bees or ants we are not meant to live like that, FREE people dont need others trying to MAXIMIZE their freedoms, its just another form of control, you dont tell me what free means.
@poolerboy0077 You cant control life's outcomes, when you and people like you start trying thats what leads to tyranny. Its the same things as taking all the fat outta foods and sugar in drinks, censorship on tv, ETC, you get it. A GOVT has no right to dictate how we decide to live our lives. Yet this is exactly where we find ourselves.
The point is not to control lifes outcomes, but to be risk averse. The liberty infringement is negligible (especially in the context of driving which is a *priviledge* not a right) and outweighed by the benefit of maximizing one's capability of to carry out future decisions. Your fear of tyranny is overstated. Moreover, seatbelt and helmet laws are there to mitigate the externalized costs of accidents on public roads.
here are my latest thoughts on this one, i know i'm going to persuade a few of you with this...it strikes me this is analagous to wearing a condom, yes? men prefer not to if possible i'm told, but that can be very dangerous can't it--you could die, under certain circs! how about a law then, you must ALWAYS wear a condom to have sex? if we ever need to produce offspring we'll just use insemination. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE THAT WOULD YOU! well then, let people decide things for themselves, you horrors.
@solorathain That'd work fine if your medical system was user pays, but it's not (in fact per capita your government spends more on healthcare than Australia - which has public hospitals and medicare for all). You know how much that will costs taxpayers? And not all injuries can be repaired.
@fightforyourrights9 I'm pretty sure if there WEREN'T a seatbelt or helmet law, some asshole who gets into an accident and didn't wear a helmet or seatbelt will sue the city citing that there were no seatbelt or helmet laws (so he wasn't protected). He will then no doubt we rewarded at least 250,000 dollars, thus forcing the city to pass the law, anyway.
If you ride without a helmet please make sure to sign your organ donor card!! BTW this is not irony. This is common sense and poetic justice. Irony would be if he had lobbied FOR helmet laws and THEN died from head injury anyway.
Wearing a helmet is common sense, but there shouldn't be legislation forcing riders to wear them. They are idiots not to, but it's ultimately their own choice. So long as what someone is doing isn't harming another person, the government shouldn't tell them what to do. Same goes for seat belts. You could even make a similar case for drugs. You're stupid to take them, but doing so doesn't directly harm other people. Personal choices. Sorry, TYT - not with you on this one.
@kaggyx Hey dumbass...I said EVERY BIKE RIDER SHOULD BE ABLE TO RIDE HELMET FREE! But they must sign a waiver that they understand the risks and they will give away the right to sue or for others to pay for their medical expenses...you want socialism? FUCK NO! Be free to do what you want....just don't make us pay for any injuries you sustain. So strap that big vibrator between your legs and fuck yourself too.
@Buhma And for those injured because of the helmets? You're a fucking moron. The choice is a free choice that we should have without being told we're fucked if injured. You're as useless as a bag of dicks you ignorant arrogant piece of shit. BTW Bag of dicks the most useless thing ever, nobody wants to go to Al's big old bag of dick warehouse, and somebody should bitch slap you for suggesting that motorcyclists be treated like second class citizens. Also look up what socialism is kid. Fuck
@kaggyx if they ride with helmets it is their choice...isn't that what you want? If they get hurt with or without helmets....I don't care...as long as my tax dollars don't go to these dumbasses.... BTW, you sure know alot about a bag of dicks... been sucking em much? Bikes and dicks.....I see a pattern there.
I've been riding for over 30 years ... yeah, I'm old.
His real head injury happened before the crash ... which caused him to be stupid ...
In the end he died of stupidity.
In the end we don't regulate responsibility, we regulate safety measures because there are large social costs. Ex. This guys family may now need welfare. Police, Fire, Coroners Office all had to be utilized. His "PERSONAL FREEDOM" just cost us all a lot of money.
@TheIconGuy Let's go over this slowly to help you out. An idiot is encouraging people to do stupid thing that can get them killed. Said idiot is the killed doing the selfsame thing he's been encouraging....hence karma
The dude died because he was stupid on two accounts:
1. He didn't wear a helmet.
2. He didn't know how to properly ride a motorcycle. He fishtailed because he locked up his rear brake instead of using a combo of front and rear braking. Simple bastard. I feel bad for his family.
We don't allow rape, murder or stealing. We all agree that there should be limits on personal freedom. It's just a matter of what those limits should be. I don't think that this example is worth that fight. It is a dumb idea not to wear your seat belt or helmet. It is also a little inconsiderate that some kid my be late for a job interview because the road gets shutdown to search for your eyeballs. I don't care if u kill yourself. Just don't do it on public roads or have us pay for your burial
ok, i just wanna say that when i ride my motorcycle I ALWAYS wear a full face helmet and always feel cooler then everyone that either doesn't wear a helmet or wears a 3/4 helmet

Just wear it so you "don't get dead."
jvclark2 7 months ago
@jvclark2 So, because there are reckless drivers out there, I should be forced to wear a helmet? What you're basically saying is that If a reckless driver hits me, he might get in trouble for his negligent actions, and therefore my liberties must be infringed upon. You will excuse me but I have to call bullshit on that one. It is my life and I alone am the only one who has the right to decide what is best for me. If I wear a helmet it should be because I think I'm safer, not because I'm forced.
Grindermetalhead 7 months ago

And, hey - if he dies, then that's just one less idiot passing on their genes. Everybody wins.

xxcrysad3000xx 7 months ago
I don't understand all of the people that think this is irony. He was protesting the right to decide for himself to either wear a helmet or not wear one. He was NOT protesting that riding without a helmet is as safe, or safer, than riding with a helmet. His death, regardless, was tragic. It was definitely not ironic and it is not hysterical. For reference I ride a motorcycle nearly everyday of the year and have been riding for 10+ years now. I think riding without a helmet is the wrong choice
toddlamp 7 months ago
@toddlamp
I'm pretty sure it was ironic.
Amsah 7 months ago
@Amsah The definition of irony is: "Happening in the opposite way to what is expected". The rider never insisted that riding helmet-less would prevent death or was somehow safer than riding with a helmet. Riders know and accept the risks of being on a motorcycle. Riders that take it a step further and ride without a helmet accept a further understanding that they are putting themselves at even more risk of severe injury/death. They just want to be able to make the decision for themselves.

Wearing a helmet is just normal, in the same way that wearing a seat-belt is. They both save lives and, in the case of helmets, your teeth. Being hit by a bee at urban speeds, with my visor up, is bad enough, I'd hate to think what it would feel like at 70.

Manditory helmet laws suck because they trump the freedom to choose for yourself !!!!!!!

Many people each year are killed on motorcycles and they were wearing helmets - all this phoney concern for safety reeks of special interest groups who score with helmet laws : insurance industry and helmet makers !
The only law that applies for motorcyclists is the Law of the Asphalt : it's your ass and its your fault - The State can just fuck off !
rolynstone48 7 months ago
@rolynstone48 Um... insurance is less in states with helmet laws, so....
Many people die each year and they're wearing seat belts. Of course, it's a tiny percentage of those who die who aren't, so....
I think you should be able to ride without a helmet if you have insurance that guarantees the tax payers will never have to support you after your massive head injury.
FactChecking101 7 months ago
@FactChecking101
Helmets are good to use - but more important is my right to choose - and hope I don't end up on the six o clock news - those are my views !
rolynstone48 7 months ago
@Buhma Correction. I never said you said mandatory helmet laws. You said that if we (motorcycle riders) get in an accident we're not entitled to healthcare. Seems you're too stupid to understand what I'm railing against you for...no wonder you resort to gay jokes (not a good one at that). The bottom line is that helmets cause accidents too, there I dumbed down my point for you, and we should be entitled to the same treatment nomatter which risk we choose. Here's a flashback Go fuck yourself
kaggyx 7 months ago
@kaggyx Poor reading comprehension...I said YOU pay for your OWN healthcare. Don't make us pay for your dumbass mistakes. Never did I say you shouldn't get healthcare....you should pay like everyone else you fucking moron. Bottom line, I don't give a rat's ass if you crash and die with or without a helmet....as long as you die...I'm cool with that. Have a nice day....moron.
Buhma 7 months ago
@Buhma And why wouldn't my normal healthcare cover it? You said we would need a separate insurance policy for our motorcycles. You need to work on your ability to understand your own bullshit. And again...Go fuck yourself. You've shown you have no understanding of anything about motorcycles other than your ignorant opinion that motorcycles are going to affect your tax dollars. Why don't we make it so everybody on the road need separate policies. More people die in cars anyways
kaggyx 7 months ago
@kaggyx of course most people die in cars. At present time there's 62 million cars registered in the U.S, compared to 7 million motorcycles registered. And in my experience I probably see only 1 motorcycle per 1,000 cars, not to mention in cold seasons they are rarely ridden by those who own them. You do the math
csplendrig 7 months ago
@csplendrig You haven't read the rest of this. I was being sarcastic because this numbnut, Buhma, said that motorcycle riders should have to carry a second health insurance to ride without a helmet. The point I've been trying to make is there are many risks associated with wearing helmets. Some being heat exhaustion, limited vision and hearing, and increased risk of neck injury. The decision of which risks we'll take should be ours to make without added stipulations. I've done a lot of math
kaggyx 7 months ago
So fucking what?! He did something slightly dangerous and died, that does not mean the law he was protesting is just.
The only one you endanger by not wearing a helmet is yourself. This is the same with drugs. The state should stay the fuck out of peoples business.
If i want to ride a bike without a helmet to my crack den where i get high for weeks and starve to death then that is my fucking business.

stillrob420 7 months ago 8
@stillrob420 This kind of freedom is illusory. Not only is the freedom trivial, but the law would have actually *maximized* his freedom. If a person is saved, say, by having been legally compelled to wear a seatbelt or a helmet, then that person’s opportunities to carry out future decisions have been made possible courtesy of said law.
poolerboy0077 7 months ago
@poolerboy0077 This has to be the dumbest comment on the thread. How the fuck is freedom maximized by the denial of freedom? When you're compelled to do something, it is the exact opposite of freedom.

Is it smart? prly not, is it rational, prly not, we are not bees or ants we are not meant to live like that, FREE people dont need others trying to MAXIMIZE their freedoms, its just another form of control, you dont tell me what free means.
stillrob420 7 months ago
@poolerboy0077 You cant control life's outcomes, when you and people like you start trying thats what leads to tyranny. Its the same things as taking all the fat outta foods and sugar in drinks, censorship on tv, ETC, you get it. A GOVT has no right to dictate how we decide to live our lives. Yet this is exactly where we find ourselves.
stillrob420 7 months ago
@stillrob420 "You cant control life's outcomes"
The point is not to control lifes outcomes, but to be risk averse. The liberty infringement is negligible (especially in the context of driving which is a *priviledge* not a right) and outweighed by the benefit of maximizing one's capability of to carry out future decisions. Your fear of tyranny is overstated. Moreover, seatbelt and helmet laws are there to mitigate the externalized costs of accidents on public roads.
poolerboy0077 7 months ago
here are my latest thoughts on this one, i know i'm going to persuade a few of you with this...it strikes me this is analagous to wearing a condom, yes? men prefer not to if possible i'm told, but that can be very dangerous can't it--you could die, under certain circs! how about a law then, you must ALWAYS wear a condom to have sex? if we ever need to produce offspring we'll just use insemination.
