Thanks for some of the history of Greg Kihn in the SF Bay area. This is right at the top of about 5 favorite rock songs of my early party years. Still is. I was watching another YT Video of this song by Greg Kihn from a New Years Party I think for 2011. He's still kicking and it's fun to watch the great rockers still rocking.
Great song that reminds me of a local home town rock band that played the song in the 80s. Great dance/drinking music back then. This video brings back good memories.
I got to see the Greg Kihn Band open up at a monsters of rock concert back in the early 80's in Seattle at the Kingdome this concert so kicked ass...Greg Kihn, Joan Jett, Loverboy and Foreigner WHAT an excellent concert from start to finish...
I love the down to earth feel of the band as they knock out such an awesome song. Just good American Rock and Roll! I first heard this song when my brother received a mix K-Tel record for Christmas. This was the only good song on the record that I remember.
If the San Francisco area had better local labels than Fantasy and Beserkley, the Bay Area would be a much better known music hotbed. Too bad so many artists were suppressed by those fly-by-night labels. The Tubes, Sylvester, Pearl Harbor, Greg Kihn, Sly Stone, and many other unknowns would have been much bigger artists.
Amazing songwriting. thank you greg Kihn! haha to say that someone who is wasn't even born when a song was wrote can't appreciate it is just dumb! I am 22 years old born in 1989 and my biggest influences have come from the 70's and 80s. think about the people who enjoy classical music or jazz that was wrote well before they were born. I play guitar in a cover band that plays 60s,70s,and 80s hits. i love the classics and truely do miss the ways of the real musicians of the day!
back when music had meaning...now it all these re-worded repeat fags who make millions...taking credit from true songs and true people...This is real music, thats all I have to say!!!
Greg Kihn fans! Hear his radio interview (songs, too!) Sat 10/1, noon(ET) on Dave's Gone By (uncradio. c0m). If you miss it, check the audio archives at davesgoneby. c0m.
@richyloco19 I have watched the movie many times but just the other day as I watched it, and this song played, I was like, "I gotta hear it again"...LoL!!!!!!!
I seen them 4 times opening up for various bands in Philly. I originally thought they were the Great King Band. Hey - that's a good name for a band. Excellent Group!!!
@57Carlibra Disco Club was a music video tv show from from Peru from the 70's and 80's. CM on the right I would guess is Cable Magico - cable company - probably replaying videos from this show.
Tomado de Disco Club! Siempre quise saber como se llamaba originalmente esta canción. Siempre la anunciaban como la Canción Incompleta, ni con el nombre del grupo acertaban.
Tuvieron q pasar 27 años para enterarme!!! Excelente aporte!!!
Simply put, this song just kicks ass. I love this song and always have. It is just as great today as when it was first released. Thank you Greg Kihn for giving us such great treasures. This song to me was your very best. I can play it over and over and over again and never get tired of hearing it. It brings me up no matter what kind of mood I am in. I am so very thankful I was around to hear it. Would be honored to get an autographed picture. Maybe one day I hope. Dave Scott, Chesapeake, VA
THIS is the song that Tom Petty wishes he had written. Those Rocking guitars sound almost as tight as Clarence White & Roger McGuinn, BYRDS, circa 1970.
I have to agree with "red23rocks." Clean and simle but the sum of the parts is something more. I don't know what it is exactly but my brain likes it. I have been listening to this song for decades now and I still love it as much as the first time. I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. Very few pop songs have the same staying power for me. Del Shannon's Runaway is another. Thankyou for uploading this version, it is on my favorites list!
Guys, just want to ask, is the song "Inside Out" by The Mighty Lemon Drops is a rip off of this Song? coz the guitar strumming is the same. pls help =)
@WineSippingCowboy You're 100% RIGHT, My Wine Sipping Pal! Ah, I long for the days when pure Rock ruled the Airwaves!! I hear from all kinds of teenagers here on Youtube who say that they love the Music from the 1980's! We're talking about stuff that was recorded 10 to 15 years BEFORE THEY WERE BORN!
i had the same initial impression but the beauty of this song is the deceptively simple parts of all the instruments. less is more with this song, esp. the drums
nice. you don`t often get a huge 80s hit being better live than the studio. That drummer hits them drums like he caught them making out with his girlfriend.
At my first Greg Kihn concert (5 years ago) I climbed up on stage and got his autograph... I was told later that security and the San Jose Police were chasing me but lost me in the crowd of fans :-D
Certainly one of the best American guitar riffs for the 80's;strong live performance too.
Sounds fresh nearly 30 years later, in that Roger McGuinn/Byrds vein-pure guitar classic. Those 80's synth bands are stale, boring, next to this guitar gem. Enjoy!

omg i love this song im 26 yrs old female. My family think im a little weird cause i listen to this kind of music im mexican american, but hey i can blame myself for liking real good music
I listen to this guy on the Classic Rock station almost every week talking about cool stories and his opinions on rock bands and songs.....he is the best radio DJ ever!!!!
@SlayerInBlood haha do you go to Kihnsert every year too? That and the Bone really are the only radio stations I listen to whenever I'm headed through the bay
@gazeemyth No but I have given up on todays radio stations and only listen to the classic rock station. I only check the stations that play new music once in a while to see if they are playing a good song but most of time for me its classic rock and im only 25 years old. Fuck todays music on the radio, fuck it. I'm so tired of it. Classic rock all the way!!!
I used to live in the Bay Area and got to hear him on KFOX every morning, he really is a great DJ with some amazing stories. I really miss hearing him all the time.
-> Thumbs up if you think the original "let the right one in" is BETTER than the remake "let me in". if not shame on you poor mortal !

Used to listen to local Greg Kihn when I was playing keyboards in South SF Bay band Ringmaster.
We were going to do a cover of this song with kazoos for the "unh-unh-unh" parts.
Kihn influenced our songwriting for the better. I understand very well the great feeling of being onstage when the crowd really gets into your music.
Now we get to hear Kihn DJ on a local classic rock station - he was there, so he knows the music.
Rock on!

Owen puts his hands in his pockets, listens to the music,
bopping his head subtly, walking around the room. He is
setting a mood, trying to be nonchalant. He spies a quick
look down the hall to see if Abby’s out of the shower yet.
A moment later, Abby appears, wrapped in a towel, clutching
her bloody clothes. She slows, hearing the music. Glances
at Owen. Smiles appreciatively. Bops her head a little too.
Owen sidles up to her, hands still in his pockets. He has to
yell over the music --

@SlayerInBlood haha do you go to Kihnsert every year too? That and the Bone really are the only radio stations I listen to whenever I'm headed through the bay
gazeemyth 1 year ago
@gazeemyth No but I have given up on todays radio stations and only listen to the classic rock station. I only check the stations that play new music once in a while to see if they are playing a good song but most of time for me its classic rock and im only 25 years old. Fuck todays music on the radio, fuck it. I'm so tired of it. Classic rock all the way!!!

I used to live in the Bay Area and got to hear him on KFOX every morning, he really is a great DJ with some amazing stories. I really miss hearing him all the time.
