I'll second the word up on posting the old flex tone footage. I think the original group with Howard Levy was alot cooler then the current line up with Jeff coffin even though they kick ass too. Great video!
Been into the band since the beginning..Vic got me into this band...since I was a bass player at the time. But it was a sad day when Howard left the band...though there music was still incredible it lost some magic. Love this older footage...thx 4 sharing.
there is a shit load of good quality bela fleck videos..... him and dave matthews make a sick combo and jeff coffin is a great replacement for leroi moore
It makes me sick to realize that in 1988, at the same time the Flecktones were playing their hearts out in this video, people were going crazy over Public Enemy's "Fight the Power."
The tone on that banjo must be from 2050

These are all superb musicians, including Howard Levy, a true master of the harmonica. He was a Flecktone when I first 'met' them via PBS tv.

That would be the Synthaxe Drumitar. And the PiraTE is Roy "Future Man" Wooten, who wrought the thing.

I hate popular music.

Awesome post. All Flecktones stuff is great but the old school stuff is the best. Too bad there are no shows in the Midwest this year.

THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!!!
dude this is what music is all about!
youngsters today are obessed with screaming and all that loud nonsense... this is the good stuff dawg
mychemicalpark007 4 years ago 7
In fact, I do not percieve that loud noise as music at all. It is merely noise.

Noise that sounds like a radio that's losing its signal.

@mychemicalpark007 I like Bela Fleck AND metal...is that acceptable?
