How is trying to stop abortion different from physically intervening to stop child abuse?

We should intervene to save the children from being dismembered & delivered alive into toilets. Abortion is an act of violence against innocent human beings. Pure & undefiled religion is to visit the orphans in their affliction. Poor babies in the womb are emotionally orphaned & about to be slaughtered like pigs. May Christians rise up, en masse, & practice true faith & engage the abortion-bound mothers with the gospel of life & eternity.

Standing in front of an abortion clinic is his idea of "saving"? Why not say to the young ladies going into the clinic that his church is willing to help raise her unborn child. Most of these young ladies are doing this as a last resort because they know they can not provide adequate care for them. The Christian is called to take care of the widows and orphans. It's just hypocracy to sit there outside the clinic and not offer any support for the young mothers. Pathetic!

Piper didn't condone acts of violence against abortion clinics and doctors. He said you should peacefully sit in front of the abortion clinic. I think that mothers who get impregnated either through rape, or out of wedlock are ashamed of asking the church for help financially, emotionally and spiritually. And I understand why, you're right there are a lot of Christians that are very condescending and judgmental. I don't think John Piper is one of those people though.

But the language of vitriol and indignation certainly creates an atmosphere where that sort of violence can flourish. In other words, he's not helping the situation, in fact he might be fueling it to some extent.

It is a defensive action. There are Just Wars-look up the 4th stanza to our national anthem. Violence is happening to the KIDS always and often physical violence happens to the women and always emotional harm and spiritual devastation happens to families where abortions are involved.Prov.24:11. @reginaDexant Legislation and making the public culture despise the practice is the solution. Killing doctors makes the public sympathetic for the mothers and doctors, not for the protestors. For abortion to come to an end, we need society in large to WANT to be pro-life. If pro-life people are armed with guns at every abortion clinic, killing all who walk up, that makes culture side with the pro-choicers out of sympathy. Nonviolent passive resistance is key - and we need far more of it.

The number of abortions done late in 2009 were cut in half (because the monster Tiller was cut down May 31,2009). Tiller's, little Auschwitz is closed to this day. In a society where being an abortion doctor is legal and a well paying job, there will always be doctors there to take that position. Killing the doctors is an evil knee-jerk reaction that won't get us anywhere.

We do need to take more action: FAR more protests and boycotts and other nonviolent passive resistance means, but killing is neither effective nor right.

Because think about it, why stop with the doctors? The mothers who are offering them over to be killed are just as guilty, why not kill them too? Answer: killing is wrong in this situation and should be avoided at all costs. The most effective, moral way is nonviolent passive resistance.

@reginaDexant Second, it is immoral. There is (at least!) one important difference between abortion doctors and nazis. Abortion doctors don't believe they are killing or murdering human beings, you'd be hard pressed to find one who thinks that they are. Nazis knew what they were doing. That's an important difference.

We are called to love murderers as we love those who struggle with anger (Matt 5:21-22).

He was a Christian killer, but God loved him and saved him to show the immense patience and kindness that God has even for the most "foremost" sinners and murderers (1 Timothy 1:12-17). Not only so, but when Paul wrote that God showed his LOVE for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8), he knew it was true for him too! While he was a murderer, Christ loved him and died for him, and we are to imitate that love (Matt 5:43-45).

@reginaDexant First of all, that's simply not going to happen. Every single pro life person would not agree with that statement. That's unrealistic. Second of all, it would work, but mainly because if the politicians felt that strongly about it, then they'd make it illegal altogether. And last, I could say the same thing. If every pro-life pastor, priest, politician, person agreed that abortion needs to be acted against AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in a nonviolent way, it would stop tomorrow.

My advice is, if you really believe that killing the doctors is what we should do, and indeed, you think it has Biblical warrant (it doesn't) - then why aren't you doing this? Are you too scared? Why aren't you killing doctors and mothers? Because deep down you know it's neither effective nor right.
