Humanities impact is all around you. Deforestation, polluted oceans, polluted fresh water, which is only 2% of the water on the planet and is detrimental to life, industrialized food systems, inhumane feed lots, accelerating loss of diversity, and the list could go on and on. You have had the wool pulled over your eyes in the name of profits. How ignorant do you have to be to convince yourself that Suzuki is a lying thief? If you had half his education you would only begin to see the light.

David stated that in 1990 the leading scientists issued a dire warning, & that within 10 years or so catestrophic events would occur & that 16 years later, he didn't state which catestrophic events occured or not...odd...

You heard that wrong, he did not say that catastrophic event would occur in 10 years, he the chance to AVOID catastrophic events in the future would be lost in 10 years...meaning that we are currently waiting for an environmental catastrophe.

Ice caps melted before man existed. Temperatures rose before man existed. We have proof what happened in the past, but no proof of what will happen in the future. Just the alarmists....that's all we have. And the alarmists like Suzuki have been living high off the hog and stinking the planet up, and now they want us to change the world AND pay them for this advice...:). In the 70's, all the mentors of the present day thieves were saying there was an impending ice age...DUHHH

He's had the wool over people's eyes for years, travelling around the globe and keeping 2 houses and living with a huge carbon footprint and now he wants us all to be not like him? So I'll ask again: what scientific data has led you to doubt the claims of the scientific community that global warming is anthropogenic in nature?

What proof do you have that global warming exists? We've recently come to know that scientists in England feel the need to cover up data when it doesn't conform to what they are telling us. Also, how do you explain the fact that Greenland was once a lush rainforest? And there was no man back then. How about ice ages? Man didn't cause global cooling. It's all part of natural cycles. Man has nothing to do with temperatures, unless there are thousands packed into a room.

What proof? The temperatures are getting warmer? Duh? Ever looked at the melting polar ice caps? Or receding glaciers?

How do I explain Greenland once being a lush rainforest? How about climate change, dude? No one is disputing that natural cycles have played their part.

But carbon dioxide absorbs the longwave radiation heading back to space in the form of heat, so as we add more CO2, there's more material absorbing this heat. We're "indirectly" warming the planet.

So tell me then...why this increase of one degree over the past 50 years...are you following?....tell me with indisputable proof how you can be sure that this isn't a natural warming pattern. Just because man is present during this one it doesn't mean that this one is man-caused. Come on Mr. Duh, Mr Insulter. Greenland might become a lush rain forest again. How can we be positive that if man does everything these crooks want us to that we can stop these minute increases in temperature. To you.

I was being ironic - Americans don't get any of the real news about the fires of Australia, the floods in Europe, the droughts in Africa, etc. An American has to watch Russia Today, BBC, even Al Jazeera to find out about what is happening. Thanks to YouTube there is more than CNN.

That is a possible solution, if we don't destroy the earth in the process trying to bring our numbers down. If we were to use biological agents to acheive this, theres always a chance it could get out of hand, wipe our species out entirely, and/or wipe out other forms of life on the planet. I don't think destructive action is the solution. According to many models, the earth can sustain possibly 12-14 billion humans, with humans living neutral to the environment. Not living as we are now though.

Your right, urban sprawl and poor urban development lead to inefficient land use. In terms of the worlds carying capacity, estimates range from 1 to 1000 billion in terms of population. It comes down to this: will population growth ever excede human innovation that allows to obtain and use our resources more efficiently and effectively.

I beleive however that the innovation has existed for a long, long time, but human social circumstances, also with the priorities and traditions of the ruling elites, have sent us down this horrible path. Whats even scarier is that they may be even doing it on purpose. Unless swift revolution takes hold, I think we're fucked.

fair enough, although swift revolution might not even be necessary, there is a lot of hope in the European countries. Relative to North America, they are much more efficient, effective, competent in terms of public administration. The most heartening thing about Europe is voter turnout and political literacy, and I believe one begets the other in terms of competent governing. Ignorant population allow for incompetent rule.
