  • I seriously don't understand why we're hardly recognized for our efforts. I don't mean to offend, but it seems that it's always the U.S that takes the credit when everyone else in the war made really significant efforts too. Especially when it comes to whatever Canada has accomplished, take the battle of Scheldt (I don't know how to spell it) it seems to me that U.S took credit for that when it was clearly the Canadians and the Nordic countries who did it. Though I could be wrong.

  • The brave souls who fought on Juno Beach make me so proud to be Canadian. We can never let their sacrifices go unforgotten

  • @autokid15 same here it makes me sad to think o all the solider that die

  • I've got mo idea how many times I watched this

  • good thing this song is "rhythm of love" and not "mad world".

  • my 2 grandfathers where in the regiment called Black Watch they died in the mission spring witch Simmons was leading screw him he made me lose my grand fathers and they died along side there friends there commander when they died was this guy called griffin

  • @smackdownify wow man that sad that bastard simmons fuck him and thanks to ur grand fathers for serving in the black watch mission.

  • @deadmerc11 Thank u for understanding my pain they where ambushed from all directions both got killed badly but it was close to the end but it was chaos out there.

  • canada was the one to stop italy they almost conquer it!!

  • @xFinity9 Yep, Operation Husky wasn't it?

  • @TxtACRowetxT i think so

  • superb n galvanizes my today search party for lost dog from joplin tornado he "left' his temporary home on sat june 4th ill repost if we find him ---plz pray for all these men n for Theo the lost dog .........

  • We have to be critical of the footage we see. During the war all kinds of footage was put together as "war news" and shown before the main feature at movie theatres. Many "combat" sequences are actually training movies. There are a lot of great books being written with social history (told by the people who were there). Hell and High Water is a great book about the Canadians in the Italian Campaign; Ortona is another. Juno is a third. The latter is an hour by hour account of all CDN forces.

  • Fuck the ignorant USA and UK for taking credit for battles that were won by CANADIANS

  • @OffTheGrid1000 the fuck is wrong with u!! America takes all the credit for doing a shit job not the U.K! Americans had the worst airborne and their airborne couldn't take out the guns at omaha and utah the British Airborne took out guns for Juno, Gold, and Sword beach the Americans just got slaughtered thanks to their airborne. band of brothers is a bunch of bull they make the 101st seem like a fucking godly regiment, but their not that good.

  • @JPNAirsoftReviews

America and Americans don't take all the credit. But, when jackasses like you speak up it goes to show why some might only speak of what the USA did. Besides, if it wasn't for the USA that war would have ended much differently and everyone knows that. If you don't you are just lying to yourselves. Its too bad all people like you can do is bash when it was a war everyone helped out in and all lost many.

  • @OffTheGrid1000

It was a combined effort you asshole. How dare you down any country who was involved in this and any war. Fuckin scum bag.

  • @OffTheGrid1000 What are you jabbering on about? Nobody in the UK who is aware of WW2 history, has anything but RESPECT for the Canadians who stood alongside us without hesitation. Canada played a pivitol role in WW2 and punched well above her weight. Perhaps you should take note that British 9 Para took out Merville Battery- which would have slaughtered the Canadians landing on Juno. Out of a Battalion, 150 reached the FUP. 60 survived the suicidal attack.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH you are spot on.

  • Juno was second most well defended beach after Omaha. USA landed ~75,000 soldiers at Omaha; Canada landed ~15,000, plus armour at Juno; I don't know if USA included armour in their initial assault but Cdn armour was key to victory and deep interdiction of Canadians on June 6, 1944. Grandfather was in the second wave, with the 9th brigade (reservists), North Novas. I can't imagine his courage. Dad met his dad when grandpa returned from the war, walking up the long lane just outside Yarmouth.

  • @Iwasateeninthe80s

Many of the men lost their lives when they jumped into the water and were weighted down by what they were carrying. Lots died drowning while others grabbed them to see if they were alive, if they were not used them as shields. War is hell. Hats off and thanks to your family members who fought. I had many that were there and somehow made it through it as well.

  • whats this sng called?

  • We owe everything to the greatest generation to walk this planet

  • @Holmes1MN

    So true

  • Inspired choice of music, IMHO.

    Thanks for the effort.

  • @akropiss good point. But he was spot-on with his observation about him.

  • @akropiss Yeah! I read that as well! Un-freakin'-believable! He did what an entire division of Americans couldn't do! You'd think he did enough in WW2, but nope.....he decides to try and win the Korean War on his own! lol

You were right....his balls were the centre of gravity of the universe! He's definitely "bad-ass of the century!" I'm surprised we weren't taught about him in school.

  • @akropiss oh, dude! I just looked him up! What a bad ass! I can't believe he captured and liberated an entire city on his own!!

  • obrigado a todos que deram a vida serão imortais!

  • just sayin tht they could do better and bring few bomers and explode the forts up not

let 300.000 allied forces die :/

  • @jackal533

Hey dude! Allieds actually tried that, unfortunately it was alot like the boats. Men died before they even jumped out of the plane from axis AA guns. I enjoy Remembrance day dont get me wrong...but 1 day for all that sacrifice? I search the net constantly and see the faces of those we remember the other 364 days as well. A lot of Generation X, Y and Z do understand what happened but they do not fully comprehend the true cost. and I dont mean money.

Take care and be well friends! :)

  • My grandfather landed on the first wave close to that big house on the beach with the Winnipeg Rifles. He was take out of action when he was wounded in the battle for Caen. Spent the next 2 years in a hospital before going home. He was my hero, I miss him.

  • I am from toronto and i think this video is very touching...somtimes i was there so i could excperience what they did.

  • It feels good to know that after all these years we still have Cannada Australia and New Zealand no behind us but side by side with us.

  • Since it won't let me put the link on here for some dumb ass reason...search my name on facebook, Matt Shelton, look for the profile pic of a soldier, thats me. Search in my friends list on the last page you'll see a picture of a P-51 Mustang, for those that don't know that is a plane. That is the page, if you really want to know anything about WWII you will check it out.

  • Me and 4 friends of mine throughout the world have a WWII Facebook page, the best on Facebook. We have tons of pictures, we ask and answer questions or any comments you have. Our goal is to let everyone know about the war from every side, every country and from every soldiers eyes. One of the regulars is a Canadian and she don't talk crap about other countries like some of you do. If you knew anything about WWII you would respect every aspect of it.

  • @texasmatt25 Bear in mind that not every side of WW2 history deserves to be respected. German soldiers willingly supported Hilter and his dream. They had no problem putting civilians to death while striving for lebensraum in Russia. The Germans and Japanese were evil in the 30's and 40's. They needed to be put down like rabid dogs. People who support "revisionist history" are juvenile and simple. Are you and your friends juvenile and simple?

  • Obviously none of you have any knowledge about WWII or respect for the Allies that you fought besides such as the Americans. I have Canadian friends and they are great and they don't talk shit about America like you morons do. Juno and Gold weren't the best defended, Canada basically walked on those beaches compared to how America landed on Omaha and Utah Beaches.

  • @texasmatt25

You are absolutely correct. Omaha and Utah were harder landings.

Don't listen to the jokers who talk shit about the Allies. It was a combined effort, without which, the war would have lasted much longer.

Many of us still appreciate and remember the yankee contribution.

  • @RexMundiUsurper Juno was harder than Utah and by far.

  • @metalrocks21rapsucks

ya, maybe. I wasn't there,so I don't know. I know that Omaha was better defended and a tougher fight though.

But it doesn't matter anyway. Every vet of that invasion are the only ones who can tell us exactly how hard it was......and we all accomplished what we set out to do. Normandy was taken and we all went inland and defeated the Germans. I don't think it matters who had it the hardest. The Germans had it the hardest because they had Canadian boots up their asses

  • @RexMundiUsurper Utah was actually MUCH easier than expected. The first waves on Juno got decimated just like Omaha.

  • @metalrocks21rapsucks

I feel I should also mention that 65 years after the war, it's time for reconciliation. Not all Germans were Nazi's, and therefore, not all bad. They did have it the hardest.

BTW, you're absolutely correct....rap does suck and metal does rock :D

  • @RexMundiUsurper

    dont forget sword....eeek!

  • @kman613 I never would :)

My grandfather charged up Juno while his future brother-in-law charged up Sword...both in the first wave.

  • @RexMundiUsurper Nice try skippy. Omaha was the hardest beach, by far. Utah was a cakewalk. Juno was the second costliest beach. American history much???

  • @cf80to01 I didn't say that Omaha wasn't the toughest. In a couple of my comments I specifically said that it was the toughest.

I didn't need American history for that. It was well taught in Canadian history :D

But it doesn't matter which was the toughest as we weren't there. All that matters is that we handed the German Wermacht their asses....together.

  • @RexMundiUsurper You specifically said that Omaha and Utah were the toughest. You said that in comments to this video. YOU said that. Utah was not one of the toughest, in fact, it was the easiest beach. Get your facts in order before you preach to others.

  • @cf80to01 funny, I don't recall or see any evidence of me "preaching" to anybody.

Does my slight mistake really matter that much to you? I mean, who gives a fuck which landing was the toughest, other than the men who were there? The point is moot. Juno was tougher than Utah....big deal. The u.s. had it toughest in the Pacific.....big deal. It doesn't fucking matter. We won!

You know what? The Germans, over all, had it the toughest! Fuck man, get off your soap box.

  • @RexMundiUsurper Frankly, it matters. Historical truth should never be rewritten. That is a problem we are currently undergoing, people one or two generations removed from WW2 deciding to revise the truth to suit current morals (ie. Allied bomber crews were war criminals) or people with limited knowledge posting erroneous "facts". It matters because a true accounting of history matters. It is always important to determine the truth in historical matters and ensure those facts are disseminated.

  • @cf80to01 okay....I'll give that to you. You're absolutely right. However, in a previous post (prior to our conversation), I already admitted that I was wrong about Juno vs. Utah and admitted my lack of knowledge. But I still maintain that it doesn't matter who had it the hardest. Every nation involved in the war had it hardest at one point or another. All that matters is that we won, and we should honour their memory.

  • @RexMundiUsurper Fair enough. I would agree that it is largely irrelevant (and highly subjective) who had the "toughest" go in any given battle. However, as a Canadian, I would contend that we have a particular responsibilty to correct misconceptions about our particpation in WW2. The number of posts that denigrate or ignore Canadian soldiers and their contribution to winning WW2 causes me great concern.

  • @cf80to01 now THAT, sir, is something I can jump on board with. I whole-heartily agree that our contributions to the wars are greatly overlooked. I usually attempt to wave Canada's flag on these videos, especially when I see someone denigrating our nation and our heroes and besmirching their great memory. However, I guess I need to brush up on my history a bit more.

Another bone of contention that I have is it seems that Canada's actions sometimes fall under the efforts of the British.

  • @RexMundiUsurper True enough. There seems to have been an effort by some of the Allied nations to shift blame for Operations that did not turn out as expected. The Canadians have long been blamed for not closing the Falaise "gap", though recent evidence shows conclusively the Canadian Army was not given intelligence from Bletchly Park that would have altered Simmonds whole battleplan. The Brits took credit for Canadian victories, the US took credit for everyone's!

  • @cf80to01 that seems to always be the case, doesn't it?

  • @cf80to01 and btw, if you actually read my comments, I already conceded that Juno was harder than Utah...I admitted my lack of knowledge already!

  • we may of been small pop but when shit is about 2 hit fan they sent our boys juno and gold hardest defended beachs we still broke through. Canadian Pride never forget

  • I keep hearing people saying Germans would rather take on 10 Americans then one Canadian,

  • @Reaver4k better belive it

  • yeeeee go canada.... fuck usa

  • @101andrewj YEAH Fuck those redneck yankees go Canada!

  • Thats our Beach!! Long live Canada!!! Support our troops whereever!!

  • I had 11 uncles & 1 aunt who served from both sides of my family, as well as my father for a total of 13 . 11 went overseas. My father went to Normandy on D6, that is, 6 days after D-day. He was with the Royal Engineers. They all returned. They're all gone now with the exception of an aunt. I am very proud of them.

  • @Clichyabarbes22 alot of people in my family served aswell, both my Grandfathers served, aswell as my Aunt and Uncle and about 5 cousins(2 being in the Czech resisitance). one of my Grandpa was in the Irish Regiment of Canada(Ironic becuase he was half english half german) I know for sure he was in Italy, I dont know if he was there for the Normandy Campain(He got medicialy discharged, with Bronchitis). He said he was a Million Dollar killing Machine.

  • My two uncles, Geoff and Tom, landed here on D-Day. Both went through the rest of the war without a scratch.

God bless Canada, her veterans and present brave military.

    tac

  • Great video! My grandpa faught on Juno beach and was able to survive the war. If ppl nowadays would only understand what these young boys went through to make it a better world for us... maybe one day

  • Truely touching.

My Grandad was on Juno Beach, North Shore Regiment, Nan Sectre. He voulenteered at 15 then was sent into action in France, on D-Day at the age of 16

  • I can't even imagine what it must have been like to walk or run from a boat straight into machine gunfire etc . I have so much respect for anyone involved in the war . We really should look after our veterans better than we do.

  • @andygammy Well said....... and remember, we have a lot of vets coming home who will need care over the next 40-50-60 years. If the past record of DVA is any indication, the latest batch of vets won't make out any better than the WW1, WW2, Korea, UN missions vets have. In fact, the Afghan war vets will make out significantly worse, due to changes enacted by the Conservatives.

  • its amazing what canada did for other people they didn't even know they are the real heros

  • GO CANADA!!!!

  • the Canadians were excellent shock troops during the war

  • juno beach was very sad what happend in ww2 and if they where captured theh ss kids whould killed them and ithink that ww2 has hurt every country god bleast canada

  • @buddy546879 I can read about WW2 and enjoy the history but WW1 makes me ill at the pointless loss of life that so many endured.

  • We will always remember what you did for us, god bless.

  • Canada had very few black troops in world war 11 and not for the reason you state. The biggest concentrated black population in Canada at that time would have been in the Halifax area. When you compare it to the US or Uk it was minuscule. Very few in large population anywhere else at that time. I lived in Toronto, largest city in Canada back then and you could go for months without seeing a black person.

  • my grandfather told me his best friend was black; died right beside him, headshot. 1st canadian armoured div, lincoln and welland reg.

  • Tragic to hear of one death, and yet, there were millions.

  • canada is fucking asome

  • The germans feared the canadians the most. Greetings from England!

  • Actually that is quite untrue. I believe you are thinking of British units. The British often frowned upon allocating officer's duties to outside of the commissioned ranks; however the Canadian Army had a different approach. This often earned them the ire of many upper class British officers. Canada was a far less class divided society and in many units officers and men had known each other or been friends in civilian life; many having been social equals back home.

  • This adaptability and freedom had led to Canadian successes in both the First and Second World Wars and helped earn the them reputation as hard fighting and effective troops. This coupled with the fact that most Canadians at the time worked in labour intensive industries and were conditioned to frontier and outdoor life also contributed to their success.

  • Thankyou Canadian GreatGrandads, from England. Heroes, Bless x.

  • Very touching. Thanks nice vid.

  • THANKS

  • 2- contrary to military regulations on both sides, men used whatever weapon worked! so it was not a shock to see an SS man with an American M1-Carbine! or a Canadian with SMG-40!=Schmeisser. 9mm sub machine gun. same thing on Eastern Front. if it works, use the damn thing! fuck the regulations! stay alive!! this applies to our new war too.

  • While it's true they did do this, it was generally reagarded as a last resort, staying with familliar equipment was preferred, and the sound of enemy weapons could get you killed by friendlies

  • the reason even a small wehrmacht platoon held out so long was the inclusion of 7 light machine guns=MG-34's, and MG-42's. a Canadian platoon had maybe two light machine guns.=Bren guns. also, if Canadian officer was killed, all to often everyone sat around waiting for a new officer to lead them. ..in a German unit, the seargeant took over, then the corporal, and so on. the initiative was quickly taken. if not for our air forces, we would have been badly chewed up in every ground fight.

  • I wish you guys wouldn't put down the Americans like that, it makes us look bad. BTW, I'm Canadian, please be respectful of our allies. We fought for the same goal.

  • The US fought when attacked, the UK fought for the world.

  • I'm not so sure about that.

  • the nazi's used to call the canadian troops "the british stormtroopers" because we were always given the hardest jobs to do..dont fuck with the canucks.

  • Thats true, the Nazis respected the Canadians. Other than the Canadians, Hitler also respected, feared and tried to recruit the Sikhs and Gurhkas.

  • Even today we're given the hardest jobs... Kandahar, anyone?

  • @brfowlie Yea and the other beaches were a walk in the park.

  • @swiftandeadly

Never said they were. Just like I never said that Helmand is a cakewalk. Infer what you will, but I'm not looking down on other countries accomplishments. Just making a comment relative to this video, and the Canadian Forces.

  • and replying to mustangmike003's comment.

  • canadains fought before amaricans

  • We're even the only faction to have secured our beach and objective point on the first day.

  • Canadians fought before Americans simply because we were part of the British Commonwealth. That's not to say we wouldn't have gone if we were truly independent.

  • Canadians were there too!! about 5 thousands canadians landed on this beach! And about 1 thousand french canadian.

  • funny, Quebec had the lowest enlistments.

  • lol yeah, another "conscription crisis" between the english and the french

  • It was more then that I believe. If I remember correctly, 9000 Canadians died during D-Day.

  • only over 4500 allies died on d-day

  • the only reson our flag not evry were is cuz we got our flag a few days befor that lol im sure the nazis were scared they saw a brand new flag on the horzin

  • All the troops that took d day beaches had to have balls of steel and a great deal of courage to do this. For that the boys of these divisions will be remembered

  • Glad to see the Canadian boys in a tribute video. They are not going to be around for long. Almost all ww2 vets are above the age of 80. My grandfather is turning 90 this September. He was in the Royal Canadian Navy.

  • Mine was also RCN. Great vid.

  • I love this stuff. Suddenly everyone is Canadian and every beach/landing craft photo was shot on Juno. Horseshit. A shame to diminish Canadian valour in Normandy.

  • Glad the Canadians Came to help :)

  • go canada!

  • Nazis feared the stormtroopers

  • the song is not by gears of war it's from gary jules

  • the song is sang by 2 deeffernt people

  • @loog123456 yea tears for fears and gary jules lol not gears of war hahaha

  • @canucks182

Actually it is from Tears for Fears.

But this cover is from Jules so you are partly correct.

  • Great work. What's the name of the song?

  • the song is mad world by gears of war. it is a real good song

  • @loog123456 It's not by gears of war you dumbass, it's done by Gary Jules, the song was used in the commercial for the game, kids these days are stupid

  • @loog123456 gears of war is a video game the song was used by the actual artist is gary jules

  • @zomgplustax He wrote that a year ago. Im sure he realizes that now. Watch out for the dates of comments.

  • nice i like the song

  • thanks buddy
