Dear darrysloan, I am not trying to dodge your request for a debate, I am trying to get you to understand the nature of your misperception. Their are plenty of arguments to make from the ontological argument, prime mover argument, natural design argument, so on and so on. YOU DON'T HAVE A REASONING PROBLEM YOU HAVE A FAITH PROBLEM. It is your inability to see how much you use it already, and where you really need to put it, namely Christ. Give me a syllogism for love if you can.
@Mophpo By "irrelevant" I mean "I ain't one." Of course it's relevant in the the sense that it's fascinating and worth studying - and worth opposing. In fact, I find it very stimulating to do so, because I know I'm being of help to people.

@jacosoft666 There are many ways of looking at these so-called Holy Spirit experiences. I've had one of them myself, when I used to be a Christian. Looking back, I don't think it had anything to do with any Holy Spirit.

That hurts a lot not to mention us christians losing close family members people we love to nonbelief knowign our time with them is short and on top of that the world is mocking us making our last days with our loved ones misserable.
@darrylsloan atheist preach against God and chrsitians out of fear they think we are going to take away there rights force our religion on them eat there children in cults and take over the world. I as a christian preach because i love them and want them to know God like i know him so they can be at peace and live forever with us. I have many atheist friends and family along with christians. i preach and speak because i care for people not the overall good of this world becasue its temporary.
@jacosoft666 I try to help atheist understand by quoting prophecy but they don't see truth in it because they are not of the truth and don't have the spirit guiding there mind thoughts and beliefs to help them understand. so trully the only way you will know God is if you live by faith prayer everyday fast and humble yourself. you got to want it at heart. When you do that The bible will make sense to you.
@jacosoft666 I know this won't affect you, but your God is a lie, and the things you believe are spiritual pipedreams that have no basis in reality. You have no idea the level of past experience as a Christian that I am bringing to that statement. Good luck to you, but you are so utterly divorced from reality that I'm not even going to begin trying to convince.
@darrylsloan Alot of people keep saying that its a lie expecially in the last 20 years. The bible said that would happen be not decieved. When i was an atheist never could see the prophecy around me. I see it everywhere i Go now. With the way things around the world we will all find out soon enough. :) have a good day bud. God bless.
If you caught my second breif remark you will know that I make good use of hyperbole, however that does not mean I spit in the face of reason or REAL science. I just mean to say that truth can not be aptly conveyed by the vehicle or reason or the conventions of our fathers. Truth is a person namely Christ. A round earth flies in the face of our ability to intuit naturally, now we need logical extrapolation to posit a flat earth. However when you deal with spiritual matters you need faith.
@darrylsloan Most present "Crosstians" will fanatically deny they are nothing more than African Cultists who worship Egyptian Pagan gods. And that historically they are all 100% ANTICHRISTIANS themselves, both by faith and religion.
Blame cultists for being Pagan savages and barbarians, all you wish. But don't brand them "Christians" by either Faith or Religion, when they are as antichristian as it gets.
Blame the religious cultists for Pagan Fanaticism, because they are not Christians.
@darrylsloan Is it possible you're anti-pagan? The mainstream religions are Pagan ones. Christianity with it's first religion of "Chrestians", were persecuted by the Pagans of Rome and Latino Peoples of Mediteranean, just as you say normal people are persecuted now.
Christianity wasn't a mainstream Faith. Even in Europe they were branded "heretics" by the Latino-Greek pagans of Constantinople or Rome, and loathed by Egyptian cultists from Africa to Asia to Europe.
You can be anti-religious all you like, without being anti-christian. Roman catholicism is a Pagan religion, not one of the christian faith. Same with greek orthodoxy.
These Latino-Greek-Hebrew pagans actually crusaded Against the Arian Christians, and Cathars, Bogomils, Albigensians, and all other religions truly "of the Christian Faith"
@darrylsloan If you look in Esther's book, old testament, you'll find Amun of the house of Hamadata the Macedonian, high courtesan and diplomat in the Persian Reich, plotted to kill all the Semites, and purify the Persian and other lands of all Israelites, Ishmaelites and all non-whites or non-europeans.
This is what the Christian Faith was about. Demonizating of Hebrews, who were considered subhuman by Christian morality and principles.
@darrylsloan Are you anti-religion or "anti-religious" or just anti-christian?
You know that Christianity was never a religion, right? Just a Faith. Like alien believers follow the Alien Faith and not the Alien Religions.
There are a lot of earthly religions that "claim" the Christian Faith, but never follow it. The original Christian faith was antireligious, antisemitic and understood only within the Macedonian Empire of the Scythians.
The knowledge of God is written on all hearts. Where is the mass movement to oppose santa clause, the tooth fairy, aliens, lockness, or bigfoot. Most people are content to leave people have their flights of fancy, so hey what's one more? No, christianity is opposed with venom and vitriol, why? I mean it's fake isn't it? There is nothing in the imagination of man that is not real. Sure you can arrange elements of truth in decietful way. Having said that, if you can ponder it, it is so.
@excusia Santa Claus and Bigfoot aren't telling children that they will go to hell if they don't sacrifice their minds and lives to a life-denying ideology. THAT's why Christianity is opposed with such venom - and rightly so. It has nothing to do with man's sinful rebellion against the truth. That's what Christians tell themselves, but it isn't true. It's because Christianity is a despicable brainwashing force against real truth.
@darrylsloan Did you know that much of what passes for Christianity is not biblical Christianity? To enter into the kingdom of God all you must believe is that Jesus is the son of God, you are a sinner, and believe he paid your sin debt with is sacrifical death. That's it. Once you do that you can not lose your salvation ever! People become angry at God because they think they have to do more than that to save their soul. Believe and live. Call on the name of the Lord and live forever.
@darrylsloan If love is real what is the size, shape, color, extension, and displacement? What is it's cause or origion? Does it degrage? Rationality can be used to prove two diametrically opposite points. Rationality is for court jestures and acedemics. Once you are conviced of something there is a tailor made rational for it.
1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
@excusia Rationality (reason) aids us in getting to the truth. If it were not so, you would not be attempting to reason with me, now would you? What's your alternative to reason? Mystical "feeling" or blind trust?
@darrylsloan The real root of reason is intuition. Most renown philosophers have discovered this. Hume decimated certain knowledge via reason with the problem of induction. Nietzche hooted at the concept of logic as clever sematics. All knowlegde is really faith based. Utility plays a large role in how we rationalize. If we have a purpose for somethinge we employ elaborate and layered justifications for it regardless of its true validity.
@excusia I am known for hyperbole, reason is not usless but it is not certain. True knowledge involves trust and expectation. God is real, he is the father of absolutes without which no argument can even be had or attempted.
@excusia You haven't even been willing to tackle one single objection I've made, but instead are leading me on a wild goose chase to nowhere. The hypcrisy in what you say is that you'll happily embrace all the wonderful science and technology that benefits your life every day, which was created by reason and logic - while you spit upon the same.
@darrylsloan My main objection to your reasoning is that your are trying to discern a spiritual problem with material means. Man will never see the God as man endevors to see the stars with more and more powerful telescopes. You need a different tool altogether
@excusia You're defining spiritual as non-rational, as if the two are opposed. Whereas Christian apologists have long been fighting to present Christianity as a rational faith, defending it with tangible evidence where possible. You use feebles excuses, so that you can avoid engaging in debate - because you know you would lose.
@excusia There is a huge difference between warning a child of a real threat, and using one that is absolutely hypothetical and unknowable in order to force him to believe something. For instance, would it be ethical to tell a child that there's a monster under his bed, and if he sneaks out at night, it will grab him and eat him? That's what hell is for both children and adults. It's the boogeyman repackaged.
Men fight and strive against the truth. If Christianity were really false, men would be content to allow the adherents to indulge. Where is the protest with fans of "reality" shows, science fiction that is not looked at the same way as other fantasy such as starwars, or the greatest con job ever, salvation through politics. Does anyone dare challenge these? The challenge comes against the true light that reveals our unflattering depraved state of being.
@excusia That's a poor argumenet for Christianity. People are so against it because of childhood indoctrination, persuasion through fear, bigotry, and the poisonous life-denying worldview it represents. People who fight against Christianity are fighting FOR the truth.
@darrylsloan What I wrote was far from an argument. I was making the observation that people rally against truth because it operates in a way that is indefferent to them and their agenda. God is real everyone know that. The only argument to be had is who is he exactly and what does he want. Everyone believes in childhood indoctrination, don't let the negative connotation fool you, it's called values. Everyone believes in persuation through fear, talk to any doctor, law maker, or teacher?
@excusia So you put the stamp of approval on indoctination and persuasion through fear? You believe it's good to condition children to believe fantasies in the absence of evidence, especially fantasies about a terrible place that no one could possible know is real - so long as the child is sufficiently scared to believe and not to question? If there's any nobility to be had in life, it's in bold resistance to this nonsense.
@darrylsloan Of course I approve of indoctrination through fear! It is not the only method of teaching but a necessary facet of the learning experience. Don't take candy from strangers! Why tell them that? Don't take rides from strangers. Why tell them that? Don't let anyone touch your private area and if they do tell! Why tell them that? Doctrine means teaching, indoctrination is the inculcation of a teaching. Why do your resist the God you know exists?
In the words of Jewish comedian Lewis Black, sorry Christians but you got the bible all wrong and we should know, its our book. Eastern translation and interpretation is different than Western ( Greek) translation. The meaning changes. Either God is Spirit and not a man, or God sent God to appease God. Which makes more sense?
I can see that your a good person, and I greatly admire that. And I'm not judging you but if you had experienced a true Christian faith their is nothing on earth or in hell that could change that. I suggest you try christianity again (what have you got to lose). And who knows? Maybe you'll like what ya find!
@Jrod2331 You are quite wrong to make such a sweeping generalisation about the quality of my previous Christian life, since you know little about it. In my experience, it's very hard for Christians to handle the fact that one of their own could have learned something that changed his mind. I once had all the same heartfelt devotion that you probably have.
I read your book in one sitting last night. I like the writing style the most. I don't really buy the one consciousness / holographic universe paradigm, but neither am I totally against it either (the part about staying open, yeah). If you like Oblivion, you'll love Skyrim. But I don't game much anymore. Reading, writing, and actually living life are much, much more interesting than gaming.
@H1X1H Thanks for reading. Keep an eye out for "The Dark Wheel," which is a revised version of "Reality Check." I'm planning to make it a free download before too long.
The belief that hell is a place people go to burn in fire forever. To me is just flat out short sighted and simple minded---"primitive" to say in one word. I myself am not sure what it is really. All I know that is if exist, whether an actual place or state of consciousness, it is something I would want to avoid. But, if you read all of the contradicting descriptions of what hell is you can only come to one sure conclusion, that it is something very negative.
I like how give the time to sit down and explain all of your facts, theories and conspiracies. Fair enough you give the odd joke that some snobby christian would gain the impression that you are poking fun at them in some cases you are but then again they are the ones making a fool of themselves by believing in some ancient fairytale that contradicts and has been altered by different kings many a times. Wait til you see some of the jip I might get for writing this Darryl lol.
@667766667 Cheers. Just a small correction, if I may. The New Testament we have today is likely fairly close to the one that was originally written down. We have a lot of manuscripts from as early as the 4th century. Doesn't make it true, of course.
20 + years for me as a Christian. I too sometimes feel my vids maybe to "anti" christian but as others have done for my deconversion and freedom, I hope I may give someone something to think about. We do need to be tactful and not antagonistic if we want those seeds of reason to be fertile in the minds of theists. Love your vids. keep up the good work. May reasom be supreme.
Yes Darryl, it is a positive thing trying to cure people of insane religious beliefs, but I don't think science holds all the answers either. It's good at what it does, but it just doesn't do enough. Watching some scientific documentaries makes me cringe with embarrassment at some of the "logic" they put forward. Almost as much as some of the laughable religious beliefs I hear of.
I think being spiritual is very important. And philosophy is light years ahead of science in many ways.
@dairniel I pretty much agree. Although I would clarify that it's "material minimalism" that is the problem, not "science." It just so happens that most scientists are material minimalists, which is a pity. Philosophy is where it's at, as you say.
@darrylsloan My take on this is, that actually science can explain everything in time. The problem is, it just takes time. Until then, we have to go with what feels right.
@dairniel Scientific "documentaries" are really just scientists putting forward the craziest theories that are plausible for sensationalism. If you want real scientific information, stick to peer reviewed journals.
@darrylsloan Thats why Im a Jehovah witness. We dont believe in the whole notion of hell. We believe that when we die, its over and some day, god will bring you back and your sins shall be forgiven. If god sent people to hell, then hes not a loving god if he would send you to a terrible place. Careful though. Because your "anti christian" some might think you worship the anti Christ. You know anti christian anti Christ? lol
You’ve been wounded in battle and I can feel your pain because I’ve been wounded too. I’m not sure why so many Christians seek to kill their wounded because that’s not what the Bible teaches. My hope is that you can heal from this point on and return to your childhood beliefs. I’ve searched all my life and the God of the Bible is the only one that proves to be real and can give us hope, weather we agree with His methods or not. Most of us Christians are not good examples of the God we worship.
@MerozCurse Kindly do not paint me as a victim. You're inventing a fictitious version of me that's not remotely real. I removed Christianity from my life because it was the right thing to do. My anti-Christian stance has nothing to with me being hurt by unkind friends. You would like me to be that pathetic, but I'm not.
HAd to laugh at the religion is on the decline part. YOu need to get a grasp on whats happening right now in the middle east. The world wide stats show that religion is growing.
@TheWomblemaster Laugh all you want. You're the clown who was certain he was going to be raptured in 2011 (I'm NEVER going to let you live that one down). It doesn't surprise me that you have no perspective on the secularisation of the world.
I'm the most Anti Christian in the US because here it is the one that fucks with my rights the most, if it was another religion that had the majority I'd be more strongly against them. I rate things on a fucking with me the most scale and target (give them a verbal bitch slapping they will not recover from.) them, which is why I will never target Pagans or Wiccans because I've never seen them trying to take away my rights. They are on my very short cool list.
@ProfessorBlitz Something I've never researched, I'm afraid, nor am I likely to. The logical problems in one monotheistic religion are inherent in all of them.
It seems safe to say that your position is that Christianity, (in all its versions), is in the way of actual knowledge. I have only viewed some of your videos and not read your book so this question may have already been answered. Do you think there is a conscious creator of the Universe ? I mean this in a quest for knowledge kind of sense with no religious attachment whatsoever. I also mean this in the widest sense possible, with no pre compiled set of characteristics for the creator.
@A1Sirius My own quest for truth led me to non-dualism and pantheism, rather than the strict material (and metaphysical) minimalism adhered to by most altheists. God, the universe, man - under the surface it's all one. Big topic. See some of my videos from a couple of years back.
@darrylsloan Thank you for your answer. I think I have better understanding of your view of existense after listening to the time and eternity videos. To be able to hear other peoples views of the world via YouTube is quite interesting. Regardless of our beliefs and opinions the ability to speak freely (or almost freely) is something to be treasured.
I respect your opinion's and the information you share 100% I get it. I have rebelled agianst God but it got me no where it made things worse. Slowly but surely building my relationship with him starting to feel stronger again. I am a Christian and go out and drink etc I am saved by the Grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and that alone nothing else. But I understand were your coming from Darryll I have been were you have been
@TheWomblemaster It's not that picky to ask, it is basic English from school. And my facts are correct. Christianity has started holy wars, murdered scientists, suppressed those that suggest SCIENCE that contradicts their dogma, and makes otherwise normal people harbour hateful views about people based on their sexuality, for example.
I think that many Christians are intellectually lazy, & depend too much on the validation of others for what they supposedly have conviction in. I think as you say; there are a lot of people on the fence, & dropping fears can be a gradual process.
I do enjoy your videos about other topics though:)
@BespokeGroupUK I know you've always taken a more tolerant attitude to religion, Nick, and I think I understand the direction you're coming from. But that's liberal Christianity. In my experience, the more seriously religion is taken, the more that it hijacks your mind and prevents real learning.
@darrylsloan I would agree. But there are also people who deliberately try and exploit that aspect of thought control and use religion as their method to control people.
Dear darrysloan, I am not trying to dodge your request for a debate, I am trying to get you to understand the nature of your misperception.

When you do that The bible will make sense to you.
jacosoft666 10 hours ago
@jacosoft666 I know this won't affect you, but your God is a lie, and the things you believe are spiritual pipedreams that have no basis in reality. You have no idea the level of past experience as a Christian that I am bringing to that statement. Good luck to you, but you are so utterly divorced from reality that I'm not even going to begin trying to convince.

However when you deal with spiritual matters you need faith.
excusia 13 hours ago
@darrylsloan Most present "Crosstians" will fanatically deny they are nothing more than African Cultists who worship Egyptian Pagan gods. And that historically they are all 100% ANTICHRISTIANS themselves, both by faith and religion.
Blame cultists for being Pagan savages and barbarians, all you wish. But don't brand them "Christians" by either Faith or Religion, when they are as antichristian as it gets.
Blame the religious cultists for Pagan Fanaticism, because they are not Christians.
Gelimarduk 1 day ago
@darrylsloan Is it possible you're anti-pagan? The mainstream religions are Pagan ones. Christianity with it's first religion of "Chrestians", were persecuted by the Pagans of Rome and Latino Peoples of Mediteranean, just as you say normal people are persecuted now.
Christianity wasn't a mainstream Faith. Even in Europe they were branded "heretics" by the Latino-Greek pagans of Constantinople or Rome, and loathed by Egyptian cultists from Africa to Asia to Europe.
Gelimarduk 1 day ago
@darrylsloan
Gelimarduk 1 day ago
@darrylsloan If you look in Esther's book, old testament, you'll find Amun of the house of Hamadata the Macedonian, high courtesan and diplomat in the Persian Reich, plotted to kill all the Semites, and purify the Persian and other lands of all Israelites, Ishmaelites and all non-whites or non-europeans.
This is what the Christian Faith was about. Demonizating of Hebrews, who were considered subhuman by Christian morality and principles.
Gelimarduk 1 day ago
@darrylsloan Are you anti-religion or "anti-religious" or just anti-christian?
Gelimarduk 1 day ago
The knowledge of God is written on all hearts. Where is the mass movement to oppose santa clause, the tooth fairy, aliens, lockness, or bigfoot. Most people are content to leave people have their flights of fancy, so hey what's one more? No, christianity is opposed with venom and vitriol, why? I mean it's fake isn't it? There is nothing in the imagination of man that is not real. Sure you can arrange elements of truth in decietful way. Having said that, if you can ponder it, it is so.
excusia 2 days ago
@excusia Santa Claus and Bigfoot aren't telling children that they will go to hell if they don't sacrifice their minds and lives to a life-denying ideology. THAT's why Christianity is opposed with such venom - and rightly so. It has nothing to do with man's sinful rebellion against the truth. That's what Christians tell themselves, but it isn't true. It's because Christianity is a despicable brainwashing force against real truth.
darrylsloan 1 day ago
@darrylsloan Did you know that much of what passes for Christianity is not biblical Christianity? To enter into the kingdom of God all you must believe is that Jesus is the son of God, you are a sinner, and believe he paid your sin debt with is sacrifical death. That's it. Once you do that you can not lose your salvation ever! People become angry at God because they think they have to do more than that to save their soul. Believe and live. Call on the name of the Lord and live forever.

@excusia How does one believe in something that he is rationally convinced is wrong?
darrylsloan 1 day ago
@darrylsloan If love is real what is the size, shape, color, extension, and displacement? What is it's cause or origion? Does it degrage? Rationality can be used to prove two diametrically opposite points. Rationality is for court jestures and acedemics. Once you are conviced of something there is a tailor made rational for it.
1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
excusia 18 hours ago
@excusia Rationality (reason) aids us in getting to the truth. If it were not so, you would not be attempting to reason with me, now would you? What's your alternative to reason? Mystical "feeling" or blind trust?
darrylsloan 16 hours ago
@darrylsloan The real root of reason is intuition. Most renown philosophers have discovered this. Hume decimated certain knowledge via reason with the problem of induction. Nietzche hooted at the concept of logic as clever sematics. All knowlegde is really faith based. Utility plays a large role in how we rationalize. If we have a purpose for somethinge we employ elaborate and layered justifications for it regardless of its true validity.
excusia 15 hours ago
@excusia I am known for hyperbole, reason is not usless but it is not certain. True knowledge involves trust and expectation. God is real, he is the father of absolutes without which no argument can even be had or attempted.
excusia 14 hours ago
@excusia You haven't even been willing to tackle one single objection I've made, but instead are leading me on a wild goose chase to nowhere. The hypcrisy in what you say is that you'll happily embrace all the wonderful science and technology that benefits your life every day, which was created by reason and logic - while you spit upon the same.
darrylsloan 14 hours ago
@darrylsloan My main objection to your reasoning is that your are trying to discern a spiritual problem with material means. Man will never see the God as man endevors to see the stars with more and more powerful telescopes. You need a different tool altogether
excusia 13 hours ago
@excusia You're defining spiritual as non-rational, as if the two are opposed. Whereas Christian apologists have long been fighting to present Christianity as a rational faith, defending it with tangible evidence where possible. You use feebles excuses, so that you can avoid engaging in debate - because you know you would lose.
darrylsloan 11 hours ago
@excusia There is a huge difference between warning a child of a real threat, and using one that is absolutely hypothetical and unknowable in order to force him to believe something. For instance, would it be ethical to tell a child that there's a monster under his bed, and if he sneaks out at night, it will grab him and eat him? That's what hell is for both children and adults. It's the boogeyman repackaged.
darrylsloan 1 day ago 2
Men fight and strive against the truth. If Christianity were really false, men would be content to allow the adherents to indulge. Where is the protest with fans of "reality" shows, science fiction that is not looked at the same way as other fantasy such as starwars, or the greatest con job ever, salvation through politics. Does anyone dare challenge these? The challenge comes against the true light that reveals our unflattering depraved state of being.
excusia 3 days ago
@excusia That's a poor argumenet for Christianity. People are so against it because of childhood indoctrination, persuasion through fear, bigotry, and the poisonous life-denying worldview it represents. People who fight against Christianity are fighting FOR the truth.
darrylsloan 2 days ago
@darrylsloan What I wrote was far from an argument. I was making the observation that people rally against truth because it operates in a way that is indefferent to them and their agenda. God is real everyone know that. The only argument to be had is who is he exactly and what does he want. Everyone believes in childhood indoctrination, don't let the negative connotation fool you, it's called values. Everyone believes in persuation through fear, talk to any doctor, law maker, or teacher?
excusia 2 days ago
@excusia So you put the stamp of approval on indoctination and persuasion through fear? You believe it's good to condition children to believe fantasies in the absence of evidence, especially fantasies about a terrible place that no one could possible know is real - so long as the child is sufficiently scared to believe and not to question? If there's any nobility to be had in life, it's in bold resistance to this nonsense.
darrylsloan 2 days ago

@Jrod2331 You are quite wrong to make such a sweeping generalisation about the quality of my previous Christian life, since you know little about it.

@667766667 Cheers. Just a small correction, if I may. The New Testament we have today is likely fairly close to the one that was originally written down. We have a lot of manuscripts from as early as the 4th century. Doesn't make it true, of course.

And philosophy is light years ahead of science in many ways.
dairniel 1 month ago 5
@dairniel I pretty much agree. Although I would clarify that it's "material minimalism" that is the problem, not "science." It just so happens that most scientists are material minimalists, which is a pity. Philosophy is where it's at, as you say.
darrylsloan 1 month ago 4
@darrylsloan My take on this is, that actually science can explain everything in time. The problem is, it just takes time. Until then, we have to go with what feels right.

A1Sirius 1 month ago
@A1Sirius My own quest for truth led me to non-dualism and pantheism, rather than the strict material (and metaphysical) minimalism adhered to by most altheists. God, the universe, man - under the surface it's all one. Big topic. See some of my videos from a couple of years back.
