Sorry but you can not compare the souvereign "Paul Carrack whitling" with "you can whitle if you want too". That's what I miss. Anyway I won't buy any tickets for M& The M today, but I still buy Paul Carrack Cds. It's a matter of taste and you may say "PC was great but at no point..." but he wrote the song together with MR = 50%
@ichill69 That's a shame, to turn your back on the whole experience, but I respect your choice to do that. We can only speak as we find. I never saw the early concerts. But I respect your opinion, and wish I had experienced them too!
@LWhitebass What a Fat man now at 51 LOL, How do you manage it in 2011 with a TIE**** But OK, no problem at 51 just send us over 1 song****When will Level 42 come together? They should be more than the Beatles***Fantastic M+M........Always being great fan, Ok that was in 1985 and I surely was following Genesis!!!
In Fact The Genesis after Peter Gabriel was Longing much more far!
I was at the Plymouth Gig....I wondered how this would compare to the iconic Young and Carrack, I was blown away. Tim Howar was amazing. Paul Young would be proud. Andrew Roachford added his own touch to the so familliar hits...and as for Mike...well the years may be showing on his face but he has not lost his touch. I will definately be there the next time Mike and his Mechanics pass through anywhere near Plymouth.
Enjoy the band for what it is now , i love paul carrack and god rest his soul paul young , but ive just got back from seeing these guys in Manchester and they were awesome loved Roachfords voice and tim sounded really like paul young fantastic performance .
Paul Carrack was ACE, agreed! But- this is Mike's band. They've always been 'the mechanics' and that's the point, surely? My mate was at this first gig. I'll be there at another in the next few weeks. We can't wait. It's not like they're claiming to be anything they are not! Paul Carrack was great but at no point was he the headliner for ticket sales. It is what it says on the tin. MIKE and the Mechanics. And what a great choice of musicians!
@ichill69 OK- I misunderstood you, thinking you meant Carrack said that right after Young passed away, which "Rewired" would obviously disprove. Gotcha. I guess if this were called the Mike Rutherford Band it would be easier to ignore? I'll probably ignore it anyway, but must admit I'm not too bothered by it. And, yes, Carrack is a very gifted man.
@ichill69 Not quite true, as he recorded an entire album with the Mechanics (Rewired), and got full name billing on it as well...but I agree he is impossible to "replace". It is Mike's music, and I guess if he wants to tour with a group to present the songs, why not? It isn't a proper band any longer anyway...
Paul Carrack had a unique voice with feeling........this performance has no weight to it and it just sounds like a tribute band! Paul Young and Paul Carrack were 'THE ' voices of Mike and the Mechanics
Sorry...I know we shouldn't really compare but to me this isn't a patch on Paul Carrack's version! I also love his solo version of this song much better too!
@JRFMRADIO Yeah - this is a good rendition, but Paul Carrack's voice is veey difficult to beat. This is a very hard song to sing - I don't think I have heard anyone on X Factor attempt it. SO it needs a very full, powerful voice with a good vocal range,
And.... I am sad that the group has reformed without Paul Carrack! Even though I believe Paul did not want to rejoin it anyway.
Prefiero a Paul Carrack

これを観て、彼らには、これからもずっと活躍し続けて欲しいと思った。マイクラザフォードにはジェネシスの事も少し気にかけてくれないかなぁ、と思う。

Errr..were you there? Or are you just an armchair plonker, who doesn't pay for a ticket and take the time to go, but judge from behind a keyboard?
