  • THANKS FOR THE YOUTUBE COMMENTS POSTED IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS - I DIDN'T SEE THEM BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW THE NOTIFICATIONS WERE SENT TO ME ON G-MAIL - WHICH I NEVER LOOK AT. HOPE I DIDN'T APPEAR UNAPPRECIATIVE.. THEY ARE NOW "APPROVED" AND POSTED!

  • It's been a YIELD sign for years... The sign is either 'shopped' in or from the early 20th Century. I live a half mile from this intersection. And bad drivers are everywhere... try dealing with a 'box of Qtips' heading towards a Furr's Cafeteria at 22 mph in the fast lane on the main drag in Mesa,AZ. ))

  • @DMRouillon It was a STOP sign (as shown) at the time this video was shot. I know. I shot it. And edited it. And didn't photoshop.

  • I actually love Santa Fe, but I have to say New Mexican drivers are the worst. They don't know how to drive. They park all over the lines, in a disabled spot without a placard, or in a loading zone all crooked. 1 in 5 (or is it 1 in 4 now?) will either have a DUI on their record or will be drunk and behind the wheel by noon. Lot of uninsured & unlicensed drivers too. Thanks for the video!

  • Come on this is so funny, but it happens everywhere not just here. LOL

  • LOL! Every city must have one of those spots, you know, where a stop sign is only a suggestion! LOL.

  • well no one likes you guys. here in santa fe, we'd rather not stop.

  • just got back from there and the drivers are the worst I've ever seen.

  • @martyzsongs Marty - cool - congratulations on surviving.

  • @martyzsongs i have lived here a year now and never have i seen such horrible driving!!!

  • @martyzsongs true that true that...IDK why but it is like that

  • hahaha! I used to live right off the plaza and would have near misses every day!

  • lmao thats funny. only in santa fe will you see shit like that! haha its City Different

  • 505 at it's best hilarious!!!

  • So funny. I thought you were using Industrial Light and Magic to illustrate a point...then I realized...God, it's REAL. Great song too.

  • Animation not required in Santa Fe.

  • @memoircity

That particular intersection had a yield sign, and does so again.

  • in santa fe it's dog eat dog! haha jk but seriously.

  • they put the wrong sign there. It should've been a "give way" sign

  • i totally know where that place is but I've only seen it as a yield sign, there is no need for a stop sign there

  • The only reason for a stop sign was that it made a few people slow down enough to amount to a "yield." Now that it's a yield hardly anyone seems to slow down or even look. In Santa Fe you have to approach all things a little differently.

  • yeah ive lived in santa fe my whole life but not everyone here is an awful driver. Most people I know would definatley yield at a yield sign.

  • @hymiehymie So to make cars yield they use a stop sign. Bass Ackwards! :)

  • haha this is so true. i just moved to santa fe from florida, which has some bad driving, but nothing like here. I have a near accident with some stupid driver at least twice a week

  • That sign is probably in a useless place and that's why people are going through it. Glad it was actually changed to a yield like it probably should have been. Usually enough accidents will dictate what needs to be done in an area.

  • hey tell me if you have others videos like it

  • not sure - check my account and scroll through. I don't think so, though.

  • Love it Jim!! You do remember that that sign used to be a yield, not a stop, so those of us who've been around long enough still treat it as such. Are'nt we awful

  • I thought we New Mexicans were bad drivers until I moved to Chicago! The ratio of police to drivers is so low that it's a free-for-all! That's why the city is installing red-light cameras everywhere...

Let's see what's happened to me here: three road rage encounters, flipped off many times, passed on the shoulder repeatedly on the highway, no signals, stop signs are yields, and drivers will go into oncoming lanes to avoid the potholes!

  • Dear Mr. Magoo - respectfully suggest that your driving may be an issue - if you'll look again at the list of incidents above. On the other hand, thanks for the proper usage on "we New Mexicans" rather than "us New Mexicans". -Mr. Language Person

  • LOL... perhaps you did not understand I was speaking about the poor driving habits of Chicagoans and things that have "happened to me" not "done by me?" Sprechen zie English? Or am I to understand that your poor driving is the cause for the drivers in your video ignoring the stop sign?

  • I was suggesting perhaps that the large amount of flipped birds etc. may have something to do with your driving. I know it's a hard one to get, if you're not inclined.

  • You must not be from here, don't you? In the local parlance, Spanish and Anglo is the main distinction. Even Blacks are Anglos. And no, Spanish are not Anglos. People from England are, generally Anglos. (as in "Anglo-American relations").

  • worse place going...santa fe...mean,rude and lots of rascist whites...really a dismal, dead end place...locals lost out to this once nice, earthy artistic place...Now its a plastic adobe pseudoplace with herd mentality white phoney trendies.Really rude, ugly behavior.

  • Right on. Please stay away. Thanks.

  • toeln is actually very correct in that statement, i grew up close to there and have seen what the anglicanization has done to the royal city, the santa fe you know is not the real santa fe, but what it was forced to become, it is teh anglo who has distorted and destroyed the cultural identity of that once great city.

  • Hell, I guess you guys are right. I'll leave soon, and go back to where I came from (the gringo haven of Las Vegas, NM) and you guys can come on back to Santa Fe. A la chingada bro! Sorry to have kept you away.

  • all i can say is, if the worst thing you can say about NM or santa fe is this stop sign intersection or even the "bad drivers", well it says something about that place.

i'll give you x 100 worse intersections and far more worse drivers in our 'great' state of california- trust me, you got nothing to complain about in comparison.

i'll wage all the worst things about the greater l.a. area as compared with whatever you got in NM- anywhere.

i love NM and miss it dearly.

    -just my two-cents

  • Thank you. I got a real flavor for the city.

  • Ahh I miss home, lol.

  • ha. i never stop there..

  • I know that intersection i pass through there every day it should be a yield sign not a stop sign

  • It is now a yield sign, which is pretty much how people related to it when it was a stop sign.

  • I'm sorry you had such a bad time, and I wish you better luck in your new location.

  • Lots of people looking to move for a few reasons.Dangerous driving situation is just one.The people suck there big time unless they can screw you over in one way or another.

  • where is the police ? lol why live in santa fe?

  • Right on. I'm looking for a place with better traffic compliance, even if the climate, architecture and culture suck!

  • I'm going to SANTA FE this December. EXCITED!

  • santq fe is a dangerous place to drive..Crosses all over the sides of the roads as well as all over N.M. highways......... ...Lots of phoney politically correct spoiled types try to make a statement by driving cheap cars,...They call it anglo fe now, also, because that,s what it is now..as neighbors tell all new people, including us...can't believe we fell for the hype......

  • A little touch of attitude here, but in the interest of free speech, I'm including this comment, for whatever you-all can draw from it.

  • Almost all the drivers in New Mexico are like that. As a friend of a friend once said, "It's a good place to be from, far far away from!"

  • Jim, its Aneesh. I enjoyed this video. It shows what an understatement it is to drive in NM. LOL

  • Man, that's an UNDERSTATEMENT!

  • Should put a camera on any of those stupid stop signs on Zia Rd, i know i never make a full stop goin thru there lol

  • God bless you.

  • is that usa or mexico? wow... what cheap cars u have... are u so poor? oh my God... I`m from Romania, the poorest country from Europe, and you see a lot of mercedes and bmw and allmost all the cars are newer than 2003... i mean is that usa or mexico?

  • Give us a break, man! This was 1999, before "W" Bush had a chance to restore this country to happiness and economic prosperity, with a BMW in every garage!

  • You could get a similar video from Avenidas Torreon and Eldorado in, uh, Eldorado, and it's a 4-way stop.

  • I think the reason why is that it used to be a yield rather than a stop.

  • well it really should be a yield sign....its more of a merge...if you have driven on gallisteo, you probably ran it...lol

  • This puts "California" stops to shame. I lived in Santa Fe for 20 years and I never noticed. Hell, I know exactly where that intersection and I am probably guilty myself. Interesting.

  • hahahaha got to love the 1,2,3 stop...typical New Mexico thing to do.

  • I must admit I never stopped for that either.

  • gotta love it! living a santa fe you have to become a good defensive driver in order to drive with all these kooks!

  • i like this its funny good idea

  • i love living in santa fe.

  • Hahahaha I live a couple blocks away from that stop sign. Drivers here are completely insane.

  • Et les flics ils marquent ce stop ?

And Police car make a stop ?

  • Funny stuff. I worked security in Santa Fe for about four years while I lived there. Crazy drivers. No one ever used a blinker, either.

  • haha...sooo true. at least the dumptruck KINDOF stopped! it's the 3- and 4-way non-stoppers that drive me freakin' nuts... especially when they actually PASS you in the middle of one because they can't be bothered!

  • This sign has been replaced with a yield sign, not that it really matters.

  • Honestly, I think California drivers are worse. That could just be cause I grew up in NM and am used to its driving, though.

  • Part II - how to use your turn signal in Santa fe :0

    lol it is too true!

  • It's because of the sodomites and illegals...most Californians drive the same way...sodomites and illegal scum. They have no respect for others, and act like someone owes them something. Come to think of it, they drive like that in Mexico too.

  • Don't hold back on that anger, daddyj. And God bless you for your uncanny ability to see through those windows and discern that these were all sodomites and illegals. Have you thought of working for the Homeland Security Dept., or whatever it's called?

  • lol I love the tractor, one love for new mexico

  • Yeah, Santa Fe drivers are THE WORST! About half the population doesn't understand the rules of stop signs, nearly everybody thinks the first four seconds of a red light mean the same thing as yellow, and when you go the speed limit, aggressive drivers do really dangerous things to get around you (like passing on the right at 50 mph). Where are the cops when you need them?

  • i go through there all the time never even seen that stop sign before lol

  • This makes me laugh, I definently know one person who sped through! i really hate this intersection though!

  • Ha, New Mexico drivers aren't really the best . . .

  • In England they don't have stop signs, but what does the country with the world's safest roads know!!!!

  • They don't have stop signs? What do they have? (and don't say "common sense")

  • The very last time I saw Jim Terr he was buying some crunchy pork rinds in Ribera,New Mexico. Glad to know he's still alive and kicking.

  • This should also be filed as the visual definition of a "California Stop Sign" as well. Thanks for the video.

  • I live in Santa Fe and no one ever stops at this spot. There is realy no reason to stop there.

  • pisser, americans make me laugh! i met some people from NM in vegas Albuquerque they're from, i've always wanted to come and see NM as i love the cowboy thing and Nm is like somewhere we Brits only see in the movies! I'll make it someday. God Bless america.

  • Good, there's no reason to STOP unless there is traffic to stop for - and if everyone does it like this the cops can't really do much.

  • lol. I'm from Albuquerque, and when I lived there I took a lot of trips to Santa Fe. You can see this kind of driving ANYWHERE in NM though....

New Mexico is a great place to be from, far far away from.

  • thats a weird intersection though. there should just be a yield sign there. but im sure you could put a camera on almost any santa fe street and see the same thing

  • Funny! I was hoping that someONE might stop but NOOOOO! Maybe manana... ;)

  • Very Funny. I live in Santa Fe, and have to deal with these drivers.
