The Editors are very different from Joy Division- technically The Editors are more efficient, and musically more accessible, but I can see why the gain comparisons, and with Interpol as well, and it's not all about the vocals, but I think it's because all three are examples of bands who have taken a darker and more atmostpheric approach to indie guitar music- the fact that they can all sound so different only proves that it is an area that has no yet been well explored.

I love Interpol, I have liked Interpol for years before I ever heard of Editors... but I'd pick Editors in a heartbeat... They have that similarity in the deep bizarre voice and the droning euphoric rhythms... definitely the same genre and very comparable... but only comparable to show how Editors are FAR FAR FAR superior. This from the girl who only had Turn on the Bright Lights in her CD player and nothing else for 4 months.

As far as the whole Coldplay vs Editors thing goes, I'd have to go with Coldplay. Then again, though, Coldplay and Editors have a totally different sound. Coldplay, for the most part, play low down soft songs, while these lads have a more powerful emotional sound.

I still like these boys though, don't get me wrong. I love their music, and this is one of my favourite songs.
