In Iceland we have a similar chorus from our vikivakar (plural of "vikivaki"): "Hér er gott að dansa / hér er stofan ný /hún er öll tjörguð og þakin með blý". I recommend the Icelandic band Þursaflokkurinn in this respect ,which also draws on traditional music,case in point being the song "Sigtryggur vann" which indeed has the aformentioned chorus. All hail Týr and Þursaflokkurinn! :)
If they weren't chased by the Indians, we'd have Vikings in Canada! (Vikings... beaten up by Indians.... I can,t believed it really happened, I mean... tomahawk vs. swords...)
@Bastieneitsab Last I heard, the vikings of Vinland were wiped out by disease and starvation. I have a hard time believing native Americans vs. Vikings would end very well for the Americans... Unless of course they were shooting them with arrows from the woods while the vikings were sick and hungry...
hey, since you're from Iceland, do you understand Faeroese? Or any of the other Scandinavian languages? But I'm more interested in how close Icelandic is to Faeroese.
@taxi911 Icelandic people can understand most of the Faeroese. and i understand some Norwegian and Swedish. We have to learn Danish at school, but i can´t understand it, just some words. The Danish people speak like they have a hot potato in the throat......... where in Canada are you from?
@taxi911 I did like it, i was only in Victoria for one day, i was most of the time (3 weeks) in Comox. hoping to go back soon in July or August and then spend more time in Victoria.
@rovku hehehehe well they do speak like that heheh.
We have a joke that says, When god was giving all the nations and the animals their language, and when god had finish giving every one their language except the Danish and the chimpanzees, but the chimpanzees did have the first choice

@Bastieneitsab the Indians had numbers
Metalaseylypse 5 months ago
@Bastieneitsab 100 indians vs 10 vikings who are starved after a long yourney
maarhoefe 4 months ago
@Bastieneitsab
Firstly, in wasnt about tomahawk, but about 'long ranged' weapons, mostly bows on indian side, while vkings had only med. ranged spears
the other fact is, it was about 8 vs 1, what we all have to admit, is too much even for elite berserks...
and as you said, vikings were after long journey... they had no chance...
what sads me much more is extinction of vikings in europe...but its totally different story...
