  • Aww she very cute wear her diaper nice little baby girl you have :)

  • Me as a tax payer, an American Citizen, born & raised here.. I have never received 1 penny from the government. Everything came out of pocket. She is now in a regular ed class. But it's with great effort & dedication. She still has a hard time getting the words out in the right order. What would you do if your child was almost 3 and still didn't know how to speak with an older brother that is 100% Autistic? I wasn't going to sit there & do nothing.

  • I read some comemnts here on the difference between apsergers and PDD-NOS. There isnt a huge difference no. Neither between two blond persons. Its a bit more subtle. I'd say the Apserger types are more professorial , bookworm types. PDD-NOS is more obsessed and via that obsession knowledgeable about their intrest. Less bookwormy but more superintrested etc. subtle differences. PDD-NOS i dont see as an university student, Asperger, yes. PDD-NOS dedicated if they can do their thing 4 a living

  • do we all realise this is a child not an object .

parent of child on the spectrum.

  • OK I have a child/who was dx'ed with AUTISM spec disorder...the facility we brought her to claims there is no ASPERGERS there is no PDDNOS there is no DIFFERENTIATION between these "types" and that all dx's fall under the umbrella of AUTISM SPECTRUM. Parents who claim their child has only a "touch" of autism or "severe" autism don't understand, you either have it or don't. It's kind of like being pregnant. You can't be mildly pregnant or "a Little" pregnant. Get it folks? Problem? STIGMA.

  • How can you diagnose such an mental disease as PDD-NOS in that early stage? In avarage , it's mostly around the age of 10 tot 12 i thought. Can you tell me who diagnosed it, and how they did it?

    Kind Regards

  • @Jeur18 uhm, please do some reading on this topic. Most children are diagnosed around the age of 3, usually because they aren't talking and aren't able to understand things that are said to them.

  • @gemmalover

Exactly. She would look at me like I was speaking to her in Chines.

  • i hate peopol that says i is not jou dut de pdd nos thats talking i am serius F*ck you

  • @multisnootyundead : get a girlfriend and lay off the cocaine.

  • she is beautiful! my daughter is very similar and i got her therapy. the key is having great therapists and just being a good parent and working with the therapists. i've seen a lot of improvement. at first my mom was very anti-therapy because she thought my daughter was "normal" but now she sees how much it has helped my daughter understand the world around her.

  • I noticed the therapist wasn't attempting to make any eye contact, that kinda surprised me bc I was always taught that was an essential part of dealing with PDD-NOS kids to 'teach' them that, but she was just diagnosed so might not be ready for all that yet?? I'm not an expert anyway, just had an internship once doing the same types of things the therapist is doing, which is btw surprisingly fun and really rewarding to do. Hope your daughter is gonna do great in special ed and in life!!

  • What a great video, she's doing so well! :-)

My nephew has PDD-NOS, and I'm telling you, we're near the end of our rope with his behavioral issues...if anyone has any ideas of where I can search for some sort of specialist or SOMETHING..anything, PLEASE let me know... thank you..

  • My son also has PDD-NOS. I wish he had gotten this kind of therapy before 3. :( I wish he could get this now. All we had was a "behavioral specialist" who's answer to everything was to put my son in time out. What the heck??

  • Thank you for sharing this video. I have two children with PDD NOS and have worked with autism. Get all the care and services you can get and do what you alone feel is right as only a parent can. My oldest is now popular and successful. As hard as it has been at times, I feel blessed and fortunate. As a parent and an educator, we make decisions not because we feel autism is wrong or bad but because those we love suffer. We wish only to alleviate that and bring greater understanding.

  • I have this, i only got diagnosed like 3 or months ago, this actually reminds me alot of myself as a child.

  • I have PDD-NOS as well. I go to a place in Edinburgh called Number 6. Unfortunately, I may have to stop it, before there are hidden charges. I'm supposed to be paying about a hundred pounds per week, as worked out by the social. If that is the case, I'd have to stop going out with my support worker, who has been a big help. I could still use their drop-in services, though.

  • For negative people, you do not put your child in special education, there are special tests to determine. It is a hard decision for a mother to do but we mother's do what is best for our children.

This is a sweet, precious little girl, how can anyone be negative.

Sometimes I wonder what is worst, Autism or ignorant people.

  • ignorant people

  • You have a very beautiful family. Thank you for sharing!

Our daughter began special education preschool last August and she loves it.

We wish your daughter all of the love and happiness in the world!

  • PDD NOS

    sigh this is sad

  • why is it sad.

it is their own individuality, and love them for who they are.

who set up the normal standard anyway?

who are you to judge if it is sad or not

  • To forget3:

You are an ignorant, judgmental individual. You have no right to tell other people how to best care for their children. My son is three years old and barely talks at all, his therapy is EXTREMELY helpful to him because now he can say what he wants instead of throwing awful tantrums.

Also, it's "you" noy "U", you need to brush up on your own language skills before you disrespect anyone else's. Moron.

  • @balamuthia actually....I'm pretty sure that person has a really bad case of dyslexia so that was unnecessary, plus, you don't know what issues that person is dealing with to make them say that either. It's pretty clear to me that there's more behind that comment and I would expect a parent of a kid with special needs to be a little less judgmental...kinda disappointing

  • i know right??

man i have to go to boring therapy every week and guess what? they out me on drugs(meds)! cant they understand that i dont have PDD and this is just a teenage angst?

    DAMN THERAPY!

wtf i read the description and this bitch is putting Vanessa into special ed. OMG

  • Yes, she IS beautiful and yes, she HAS a diagnosis of PDD-NOS! So what???? This will get her services that she needs so that she can be the best she can be. Is that a crime?? Why should that dr feel sorry for themself?? Because she's getting services or is it because ignorant people like yourself can judge them because of a label. All people are beautiful including those who have been diagnosed with forms of autism. Get a life and quit writing disrespectful comments of people's children.

  • forget3 can write any comment s/he wnats

  • @sherilynnsk

You have spoken the right words.

I speek from the heart because i have the same experiance.

  • PDDNOS is a 'quaint, unneeded, madeup syndrome'? Did you post the same thing about ADHD, or do you still believe that is also made up (many people did only five years ago). Thats before the studies came out which showed that kids with ADHD had different sleep patterns and that there was biological confirmation about their differences. Now its pretty well accepted.

  • I swear to God sometimes I feel that this PDDnos thing is madeup. I can swear that so many of my friends growing up in Europe were the same way and now are doctors and engineers. Sometimes I get scared thinking that maybe we are becoming a flock of sheep and turning our children int o machines. My uncle did not talk till he was 3 and a half and my nana tells me he used to band his head when angry and today he is a certified accountant.MayGod spear us for our lack of patience.

  • I'm emailing from my ten year old's account. He has PDDNOS. We didnt want to diagnose him at the time cos he has an older autistic sibling who we didnt diagnose, and that turned out all right. However, his needs mean that with a dx he gets aid time in school. His speech is fine but his attention span isnt great. His IQ is enormous. Of course there is nothing to stop kids with PDDNOS becoming doctors or engineers - its about addressing kids needs, not labels.

  • WOW!! great respond, I agree with you, PDDNS and mild autism has been ALWAYS around!! There is nothing wrong with it. It's just that we live in a society that loves labeing and getting money. Leave that little girl alone, she looks perfect and so precious

  • PDD-NOS stands for pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified you can't say its a mild autism because everyone who has it has different symptomes. I have it "mild" like you say but some people might have a lot more symptomes or different ones but in most cases its mild :)

  • i have autism i use to get rewad with treats but when you get older sometimes you start to feel like a puppy dog doing what your ask to do

  • Hi Ranchobaja! I have a 3-year old daughter with PDD-NOS, and she reminds me so much of your daughter! It is just amazing to see the very same tone of voice, the same intonation in speech, the same need to be directed to pay attention.. all of it is soooo similar. Thank you for posting this. It really is comforting to see another little girl just like mine.

  • In response to will97herbst,

I don't think that it is really appropriate for you to say that you are "sorry" to hear about this little girl. You heart is in the right place but I think that her mom probably feels blessed to have this bright, loving, and exceptional child. Anna seems to be on a higher functioning end of the spectrum and her mother should be very proud of how exceptional that she is. What a gorgeous child with a gorgeous brain!

  • What a cutie pie! = ) My son with PDD-NOS has been attending special ed kindergarten, just for 6 months, and it has helped him so much! He is most severe in his speech, but he can now put together sentences! Update us on how she is doing!

  • Keep in mind that your desire is language training and that is accomplished through conditioning like this tool you are using here. If you desire language to be completely typical then the focus must be on programming that will get you there.

    MORE

  • 1st step: Mand (motivation for frequency)

2nd step: Tact (concrete for topic speech)

    3rd step: Intraverbal (reciprocal speech)

Step 1 must sell language to child

Step 2 might need to be interspersed into manding gradually

Step 3 might need book with each page a aspect of an item to encourage back and forth speech.

  • im very sorry to here about your daughter i hope you'll be able to get through it tell her i said hi =)
