  • Americans still say trashed or hammered... not pissed haha. but buzzed DOES NOT mean you're drunk! It means you're tipsy.... which means you are slightly feeling the alcohol. I would say the most popular term for being drunk is wasted.

  • Haha thats gold! :P

I also hope that Americans now realize that we don't all speak like we're from the outback!

American movies make us look so bad haha

  • lol its interesting to see cultural differences.. i can imagine the lady being super confused when you were asking for thongs..

  • lol, thongs hahahaha

  • Magnum Ice Cream has made it to America recently I remember seeing it at my local Walmart in Texas.

  • @MacBookGuy91 yeah I noticed they made there here to, I found them at walmart too. There so god dam good.

  • @MacBookGuy91 My French teacher introduced my class to Magnums... but since magnum is also a condom every time she would say, "I really like dark chocolate magnums," I just about died. Call me immature, but that shit is hilarious. hahaha

  • Lol'd at the magnum!

  • We call prawns prawns and shrimp shrimp they aren't the same exact animal. When I was growing up it was most common to call flipflops thongs and fanny also meant rear. magnum XD

  • @bold12b Australia is da best

  • Biscuit means scone in America? WTF!!!

  • @mwhite4324 lol that would be funny over there ud be like can i plz have a bickie and then they give u a scone lol

  • Australia is better... even though im American

  • Where I'm from in the US buzzed means your tipsy, not drunk.

  • Born in the US moved to Australia when I was 2. I've got an Aussie accent lol

  • Its like Americans speak another language...

  • when im drunk i say im maggot O.o

  • So what is a thong called (the panties)

  • @LuckyKim133 G string! like he said in the video. :)

  • @philinator71 oh lol missed that part thanks!

  • Australian slang is cute!

  • Americans are still fairly insular compared to the rest of the world. We shouldnt have to explain ourselves, they should make some effort to learn about other cultures.

  • Funny video

    I am American

    and don't have any hard

    feelings towards Aussie's.

you guys are cool in my book.

    An Australia is interesting

  • Awesome :D Makes me want to visit the USA!

  • Why are Aussies such American wannabes I'm in Australia atm and I was shocked to find that Aussies are such Yank wannabes, you have the same style as LA people and it's weird. Copycat American Wannabes. I still like Aussies though, but that's annoying.

  • @cmchale19 You are a fool, same style (clothing etc) can not be confined as originating from America, Australians do not i repeat DO NOT want to be yank septic tank wannabe's.

  • @clarkespearo no your the fool am saying it how i see it! you aussies are american wannabes you dress like them you clearly have everything they have like ATM ffs so lame

  • @cmchale19 No your the fool, its called adapting to fashion and technology, you will find most other coutrys will run with the times also. Just because the USA thinks its the best thing since sliced bread dosnt mean everyone wants to act and aspire to be like self indulgient moronic Americans, nuff said end of story. Stop trolling this video and writing the same comments.

  • @clarkespearo I don't know any Americans that have the attitude of your negative stereotype. You obviously have never actually been here. Americans generally don't have any negative attitudes towards Aussies (why would we?) Just bickering with trolls and insulting a nation because you have an axe to grind just makes you sound like a troll too. It's very lowbrow and educated people just don't engage in that nonsense.

  • @clarkespearo Most educational studies (including the UN) rank the US at 4th for education. We rank higher than Great Britain in virtually ever reliable study. For you to stereotype Americans as moronic make you sound every bit as stupid as the troll you are bickering with.

  • @cmchale19 I don't know what your problem is, but please stop being stupid because it just enforces negative stereotypes about Americans. I don't know if you are uneducated or what, but most Americans do not criticize Australians, particularly over the trivial things you are saying. There was no need to insult people on this post and you just sound stupid.

  • @clarkespearo I read that guys STUPID post about Australia, but surely you must realize he's an obvious MORON. Don't lower yourself to bickering with trolls. Every country has their idiots, but I would never take Youtube posts that seriously. I'm American, and I think the guy sounds retarded. I've never met an American say the stupid things he's saying. Just ignore him.

  • @germanamericanable I agree mate, i dont hate americans or the USA i find quite interesting and will definitely travel there one day i suppose every country has its morons.

  • @cmchale19 To tell you the truth, in Australia we're pretty much surrounded by American influences so it's hard to find good clothes/ fashion / technology without having to buy American things. Did you expect us to be all wearing farm overalls and crocs lol ? But in the end the only difference between Aussies and Americans are where they're from. I don't see why people can't just get along...

  • Im Australian and don't get me wrong, Australia is awesome, but I love everything about America. I can't afford it now but I'm definately travelling there once I earn enough money. All the good shows, shops, food etc. are American !

  • @TViggy2389 I'm American and would love to visit Australia! I just can't afford to! There are many wonderful places in America. It is a good country to visit and we are friendly. That doesn't mean I think we are "the best country". Only stupid people think like that, but it's been my experience that people who come here like it much better than what their misconceptions had led them to think. Many Germans think we walk around with guns! HAHAHA. I hope you have a nice trip here!

  • @germanamericanable Thank you and likewise ! :D I have cousins in America and they think I ride to school on a kangaroo -_- so I know how you feel lol. I've heard nothing but good things about the people of America so hopefully we'll both have enough cash to visit each other's countries soon :)

  • I can't wait to go to American and confuse the hell out of people.

  • I'm American and I think Americans should be able to understand (but not have to necessarily use the word) a 'thong' can also mean a flipflop.

  • Bed, Bath ..and hold on, wait for it... ... table.

    How boring and anticlimactic! Lolz!

table.... Really?! Anything else would have been more interesting to sum up the things that describe the store!

  • A scone as a bacon egg muffin stuff that!

  • I can only imagine that if one of us went to America and said "Let's hit the piss!!!" Everyone would think we are retarded.

  • ROFL at the scone burger!

Haha I like the term verjayjay LOL.

  • hahha bed bath and table!!!

  • You forgot ketchup and tomato sauce :D

  • What about eating out and the entree is called a starter and the main is your entree? Sucks if you're on a diet ;)

  • 4:22 Vagija lol :-)

  • I have once been in LA ..and ordered a burger and the cook wanted to put,cat shit on it??

  • I like aussie cities that sound like wooloongooonooolooon

  • I'm australian but i've never heard of bed, bath and table lol good vid

  • Also Americans say aluminum and Aussies say aloominium.

  • @chale111111 Other way around :)

  • haha, the fanny = ass thing really got me once, i was reading a book by an american author and she mentioned a fanny and i was like "WTF!! THIS IS A CHILDRENS BOOK!!!" then I read some other book which explained and i was like, "oooh..."

  • Comment removed

  • @bold12b ive never met a melbournian on here *-* i usually go to the one on church st in brighton -.-

  • We use hammered and trashed as well. If you had used anything but pissed you would have been in good shape.

  • It's funny that the whole "thong-flip flop" thing is always brought up =)) Almost all Australians get in awkward situations with this when they come to the US=))

  • ya Im American and I think its so funny how different we talk even though we all speak English...

  • Listen to TREY SONGZ - BED BATH & BEYOND ahaha ! Great SONG!

  • Us Aussies Are Da BOMB!!! ;)

  • @PurpleIsDaSwag101 just ask ya

  • A fellow Gold Coaster on youtube! Who would have thunk it. Great vid

  • @karlos1008 Thanks man. Yes former Gold Coaster here. no longer though.

  • Most Americans should understand "Rubbish", right?

    Right?

  • @KeepUrDictionary surprisingly, no. :O

  • I was talking to an Aussi once and he was tellin me about fairy floss, it took the longest convo to discover he was talking about cotton candy it was hilarious.

  • @CdntTnkOfAUsrName Oh Yeah we call it fairy floss. sounds weird when i think about it. Cotton candy sounds much better. also we called corn dogs "Dagwood Dog or Pluto Pup" lol.

  • @bold12b It's not weird at all I thought it sounded strange and fun, so now I call it fairy floss too. Never heard of the pluto pup before, my goodness I'll be so mixed up over there I'll be seen as crazy lol

  • I was in a taxi talking to my mum about my thongs and that they are hurting and the taxi drivers face went white it was hilairious

  • I live in Melbourne & wtf is Bed, Bath & Table? Lmao!!

  • @misslilteine its a home ware store and linen. There Everywhere. I usually went to the one on Malvern Road in Prahran

  • @misslilteine

And Bed Bath & Beyond's where Adam Sandler found the click remote.

  • @Munstallstodes

Oh okay lol, I live in the South East suburbs so explains why I haven't heard of it :)

  • lol prongs and srimps are two different animals!

only the most proper formal people call butts phanies... but were the only country to use it in that context... even 'UK of GB and NI' (united kingdom) uses it in the way you say it.

i wish we called them rice bubbles.. i like the way you made the flag. they should change it.

i'm glad to be american, and culturly similar to australia

  • Hilarious!!

  • I've never heard of the Mangum thing. Thought he was a tv character. And the boot/trunk confuses me when I watch UK Top Gear.

  • hahahaha this is funny coming from an american teenager... haha magnum... BAHAHAHA

    and the thongs was classic

  • this is so lol, thong! however i have called my flip flops thongs before lol

  • SUBSCRIBED! AND FAVOURED! HAHAHAHA

  • No problem(;

  • Are you from Victoria???

  • @maccapickle was living there the past year, but from QLD. Gold Coast

  • Awesome video, Aussie born and bred here

  • @highihigh Aussies rule! :) thanks for watching

  • @bold12b No worries my friend :) awesome channel!!

  • xD i think he is so cute Lolz xD I like the fact that he is so honest! with his whole video! o_o

  • @Dakota1346 Thank you :)

  • @iiFlii we call your thongs, g-strings or if you really want the slang we sometimes call them g-bangers.

  • I love videos like this. I think our differences are so cool and deciphering the differences makes for fun interactions. Look how much fun he had explaining his culture to his friends it gave them something to laugh about together.

  • pissed vs pissed off. 2 diff things.

  • Buzzed is NOT drunk, it's like pre-drunk, tipsy.

  • lol bed bath n' table... sounds so serious...

  • So if thongs are flip flops then what do you call the actual thongs? And from my experience the only people that have a fanny pack are the white americans. And I just had a convo with my friend from australia because I had brought my favorite cookies and he was like i love those let me have some biscuits and I'm like what? like with gravy and chicken? He's like no I think americans call them cookies. We pretty much bickered back and forth for 10min about the importance of saying cookie in america

  • Make your bed! lol

  • @WorldByST0RM I know! I didn't think before i made the video, I'm not one to make my bed every day lol

  • @bold12b You're forgiven :-)

  • I'm American. I wish I was an Aussie

  • @InfamousAustinT0 yes u do

  • you have officially proven Aussies are British!!! I can't believe the similiarities...

  • Cheers, going to the states in February and needed some of these :P

  • eshayz

  • preety sure i just vomitted when that burger popped up

  • thank freakin god im australian

  • US AUSTRALIANS ARE SEXY.

  • Very useful... I'm from Brazil, but I've been living in Australia for 4 years and I went through the same things because I learned the "american English"... and when I got here, I realised I didn't know how to speak English :)

  • Australian slang makes absolutely zero sense to Americans. I am American living in melbourne and I all the time have to ask what something is and I have been here a year. In my opinion American english actually describes what your talking about so others can understand than Aussie english. I'll put it this way. Americans understand african american slang but most others do not and shake their head when listneing to them talk. It's the same for ameircans listneing to aussies

  • @SalafeeSpot The two hardest things to cope with for me being American living in Australia is the lack of common sense in how everything is performed down here. I asked for a bank statement once and ad a zero balance. They couldnt print me a reciept which I found silly. Second how small everything is. the road signs are way to small and you cant even see the road name signs let alone read them, the clothing you all wear is non existant and your parking spaces are made for bikes not cars.

  • @SalafeeSpot "lack of common sense" err bit rich lets be honest... And the only reason our car spaces are smaller than yours is because million tonne F-series Fords (the sole cause of global warming haha) don't plague our streets... you should go to europe man and see how small everything there is haha

  • @mdr279 Ford trucks get 40 highway mpgs, that's more than a lot of toyotas.

  • I have Aussie conditioner hahaha

  • aussie is hot

    american is cool

  • @ScanNinViDeo I can live with that :)

  • Have you heard the new slang for drunk in australia? Maggot ... its actually true

  • We DO say "thongs" here too, depending on where you live

  • I remember about having a heart attack laughing at the sight of my Australian friends stubby's in name and the how his junk was prominently on display in the shortest pair of shorts I've ever seen in my life.

  • i luv this video :) u should do more

  • Haha, I actually ran into similar situations while I was overseas. One time, I was telling my canadian friend my thong tan was slowly disappearing, she thought I meant my g-string tan so she gave me the weirdest look, like "wth, should you be telling me this?" And the other time, I mentioned "Maccas" but those americans didn't know what it meant, in the end, they corrected me with "Mickey D's". It's funny how our slangs are different.

  • Us Aussies are awesome :')

  • 5:31 .o.o...........pffttahahahaaHAAHAHAAA xD.....*ba dum tsh

  • im going to australia june 18th.

  • im american but i love australia :) <333333

  • @hifly1231

You mean Hungry Jacks is called Burger King

  • aussie slang is exactly the same as english except we have flipflops and rice krispies all the rest are the same

  • you forgot fairy floss

  • Thanks for warning I probably would have asked for some thongs and a magnum to eat on the beach when I go to America if I didn't watch this lol.

  • They're called fanny packs here, but I've never heard anyone actually use "fanny" to refer to their butt. We usually just say "butt" or "ass" as well (ass being a little bit more vulgar).

As for "buzzed", we usually use it to mean "a little bit drunk". It sounds like you were more than just buzzed :D

  • Well it's really funny....but in Singapore there's another differences...we use both American and Australian English...and also we do have our local English called Singlish it's a mixture of three languages English,Malay and Chinese...

  • Magnum, lol

  • HAHAHA, bum bag. Love it and i think i'll probably start to use it

  • @SelGomezSupport9 Yeah, go Australia!

  • God, you were unlucky.

  • @StoneandHoodie Yeah but I had lots of fun and it was an experience

  • I hate the fact that it takes 2 WHOLE MINUTES to get to the beach by train here in Perth Australia!!!

  • I LIVE IN BRISBANE MATE!!!

  • @chococaty24- Nope, out here in Chicago, not sure if it's everywhere lol, we tend to say Mickey D's, instead of Maccas. Oh, and I just saw the Magnum ice creams in my local Walgreens, and about laughed my ass off.

  • @hifly1231 guy with a small take-away shop already owned the name "Burger King".

  • Let's clear up the prawn and shrimp thingy.

A shrimp is what you use to catch a prawn.

Also, people do not cook their prawns. You eat them raw. DONE

  • why don't we have magnum ice cream?

they have magnum in europe AND australia apparently

why does the magnum ice cream not love us :(

  • I love prawn crackers!

Americans say candy, Aussie's say lollies. Same with cookies and biscuits. Same with icey poles and popsicles.

Also Americans say "peppers" instead of capsicum.

Here is some slang we use:

    Sunglasses-sunnies, Mosquito bites-mozzie bites, Football-footy, BBQ-barbie, McDonalds-Maccas, Australian-Aussie, Australia-Oz, Present-Prezzie, Kindergarten-Kinda, Good for you-Good on ya

    Idk there's so many :P

  • @ChrissyLuffsYooh

Also, Americans say how you doing where Aussies say how you going? It confuses Americans.

  • Actually, Americans do use the word "prawns". They are very similar to shrimp, though they aren't the same thing, and the two are often confused O_o. I've also heard "hammered" and "thongs" but i don't know if those terms originated from somewhere else :/

  • I love wearing two thongs, on my feet don't understand why my American friends think im wierd lol

  • Lol I luv Australia :) Proud to be Australian!!

  • OMG. i wanna go to australia sooo bad!

  • Im so proud to be Australian :D

  • I'm in America and we now have Magnum ice cream here. It's new. No matter what, I'll always think of condoms.

If you said hammered or trashed, I would know you meant drunk. Pissed is mad, though. Buzzed just means you've had a few drinks. Not many. I wouldn't use that word to say drunk.

  • I'm Australian and I prefer to say some words like "cookie" over "biscuit" and "ass" over "arse". I don't exactly know why but I just think it sounds better.

  • @goldacid15 You've been Americanized. It can happen to the best of us. My cousin as a child used to watch only sitcoms and ended up with an American accent. he's since lost it but it was there for a few years.

  • Aussies can't even agree what"football" is--AFL, NRL, A-league, Super 15-- see, in America we call them, respectively, Aussie rules, rugby league, soccer, rugby union. We mean Gridiron when we say football, and not that half-assed gridiron used in NRL, a real gridiron with marks all the way down the field! I'll say this for Oz: I could learn to love a place where Summer starts on Christmas.

  • @therealjoebloggs Football is footy - AFL - kicking the ball through posts and with less body contact. NRL is rugby - it fucks players up due to high contact. Soccer is soccer - black and white round ball, no hands. No confusion here.

  • @7thlittleleopard no unfortuantly he is right u may say AFL is footy but not every one in Australia does u must come from melbourn? any ways it really comes down to the person and what football they like the most. thus if ur a bogan and come from Queensland then rugby is footy (such as my self) if ur a bogan from Melbourn then u will call AFL foot ball, but if ur a swanky hipster (dick head in other words lol) from any where in Aus then u say soccer is football

  • I'm American & went to Australia last month! One thing is in Australia the book is called "Where's Wally?" instead of "Where's Waldo?" LOL. Other words: rockmelon(Aus.)/cantaloupe(USA), pram/stroller, dummy/binky or pacifier, dressing gown/bath robe, skivvy/turtle neck, biscuit "bikkie"/cookie, four-wheel-drive/SUV, nappy/diaper, lollies/candy and so many more! I love Australia I had a great time! :D

  • @Nicole3900 Its so strange how we have different words for some things. I find it entertaining, especially if you rout at a bar or club & talking about it. Glad you had a great time down under Nicole

  • @gionnv01 I know, it's so interesting! I love learning the different words/slang! It's so fun. My Australian friend said it was interesting/cute how when we were outside I would say, "It's hot out." She said they'd never say that, only "It's hot outSIDE." I'm just glad we both speak English :P Thanks so much, I really did have a wonderful time. I'm looking forward to hopefully go back as a foreign exchange student for a couple months in a little over a year :D Australia is a great country.

  • lol

  • No, buzzed is like slightly drunk.

  • Comment removed

  • eshay adlay! adisas bumbag!

  • @hifly1231 Not true. We don't havhe AT&T or Verizon or T-mobile, We have Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

  • My friend in Australia once told me she was going to get maccas after fighting off the mozzies. I was just confounded as all get out. Apparently, maccas=McDonalds and mozzies=mosquitos. Who knew? So cool! And I hattte fanny packs. So damn embarrassing to wear...

  • @arsenicqueen69 you dont say maccas in america!?! wow.

  • Lmao @ thong XD

  • Do you guys have different slang in different parts of your country? In the Southern U.S. we have slang like "put that up"= put that away (Northern U,S.).

  • @hifly1231 its great to see an american that doesnt diss us, aha. people need to understand that we arent what the movies make us out to be. :)

  • Aussies are soooo funny when you think about it. I'm Canadian, and in the summer, I wear crocs, they call them alligators in Australia. So funny, indeed. I do wonder sometimes, what they'd call Raisin Bran cereal.

  • @bubblegibubblegirl13 you mean like the shoes with holes in them? lol, we call them crocs aswell?

  • @bubblegibubblegirl13 We call it Sultana Bran

  • Did you get to a Wal Mart or a BJ's wholesale club? Did you get any peanut butter cups? I know heaps of aussies who love them and I know they are really expensive there and hard to find. I don't eat them but I know that I have been told that the peanut butter is way different in the cups that are from here. I have had peanut butter in Australia so I can imagine how much better our pb cups are. Yes, we call scones biscuits but they are not the exact same thing.
