Only geared half as low as Marlin's truck but this is a cleaner video IMO Both trucks are awesome though. Your truck is 2.28, 2.28, and 4.7 where Marlin's is 2.28, 4.7 and 4.7 right?
@blakeiskra22 Thanks for the comment! That is correct, Marlin has an additional 4.70:1 gear set (as well as a non-domestic Fire Engine transmission). I chose to run my setup because I can demonstrate all our products: single 4.70, Dual 2.28x2.28, and Dual Ultimate 2.28 x 4.70. Marlin cannot demonstrate a 2.28x2.28. Sure a single 4.70:1 is close (within 10%), but I wanted to showcase all our products :-) Take that Marlin! lol His truck is really really awesome! *bows*
Driving at 78 MPH, my OBD-II scanner reads 20 MPG. As soon as I roll more on the throttle, the ECU kicks into Open Loop, air/fuel meter reads full rich, and the mileage drops to 12 or 13 MPG!
So what I do is make sure that I am operating with the air/fuel mixture gauge bouncing back and forth (hunting for the leanest burn possible). Sometimes there is head wind or a slight grade, and the meter will suddenly change to full rich. I then let up slightly to keep it in the efficiency range. Love it!
Damn I'm so jelous... Once I pay off my Tacoma in a few mounths I'm going to buy another first gen Hilux, cant wait but until then all I got for a fix is vids like yours so thanks for posting:)
