you people are terrible! putting these fish in a such a small area and obviously your gonna hook them you morons. atleast use some skill go actual fishing. Thats like if i took my fishing rod and went fishing in my 40 gal. fish tank.... smh...,
not bad....id still rather take my kid out somewhere we could enjoy some fishn without bumping elbows with people. they need to learn that fish arent going to be schooled up in a little pool all the time. patience is a valuable lesson to take from fishing.
Ah, trout fishing with a bobber. I have fond memories of experiences like this as a kid. It was probably what spawned my life long passion for fishing. For those of you knocking this type of fishing, I feel sorry that you are bitter because you missed out on such an enjoyable experience as a kid, and that you feel it necessary to make fun of something that children enjoy so much.
thats no way to fish... ur fishing out of a little kids swimming pool.... i mean come on. if you want to teach your kids to fish go to a river or a lake....
I feel bad for those fish stuck in that pool and being fished out. They have no other source of natural food, so they HAVE to bite sooner or later. Plus, they have no coverage or space to spread out, so they are easily targeted.
@TOohigh2C There are many aspects of fishing that cannot be taught until you have a fish hooked, such as adjusting drag, applying steady pressure, controlling the fish, landing or netting, etc. Given the short attention span of children, having them learn these basics on an easier medium such as this event is much better than having them get bored fishing in the wild because they get skunked and never want to fish again.
this is just so little kids can go out and have fun and hopefully get hooked on fishing there not there to become the best fishermen or women in the world
@salemhodson Actually, when these trout are stocked into our lakes around Vancouver, fishing is just as easy. Take a look at our video "Spooning stocked rainbow trout" as an example. Cheers.
yea but it seems like they only do once a yr and its for the kids so they get into the sport of fishing, little kids arnt patient they go out once and dont catch anything they wont wanna fish agien for months
Most lakes in BC have a daily quota of trout that anglers are allowed to keep, but catch and release is also fine if anglers choose to do that. If you have questions on a specific lake or regulations, please feel free to send me an email at info @ fishingwithrod . com.
Great fun! I wished I'd have had a pond full with trouts like that for fishing when I was a kid/teen ;-)) A dream come true for youngsters. Keep on the good work to make some young fishermen and fisherwomen happy :-))
The kids didn't really get to fight the fish. For then it was "hook em", "lift em", and "admire them". The other ponds were proably better. Thanks for posting the vid though!
No animal including this man leaves life without pain. Trout are often eaten by other fish, bears, raccoons, etc. Cruel? Life is cruel, death is cruel get over yourself. If you do not want to fish fine, but stop putting your values on others.
dude, ease up pal, its to get kids introduced to the fun of the catch....of course its easy ...and the cerebral cortex of a fish doesnt reach its brain like in humans...they feel no pain and are simply trying to get away...go get a life
I hope this kids were made aware that once the fishing bug bites you, it's a lifelong sentence with no chance to ever quit fishing. Once it's in your blood, you have to forget about ever being able to quit!
Nice vid of a family-oriented fishing event. Were they using barbless hooks for catch and release? What kind of baits? I don't trout fish a lot but I know you can catch them with artificial flies, salmon eggs, mealy worms and stuff like that. W.Doodles
Yes, barbless hooks are used as they are in fact mandatory when fishing in rivers over here. In lakes, barbed hooks can be used but many lakes have a specific barbless hook regulation as well. On this day, the hatchery allowed kids to decide whether they wanted to keep a fish or release them.
I have always thought that the easiest way to make someone an environmentalist (or just give a hoot) is to teach them how to fish. especially catch and release. great video. reminds my that i have to take my little one fishing as soon as the weather gets warmer (suffering though winter in Oz)
I just discussed the weather with a friend from Melbourne last week and it has (at least last week) actually been colder in Melbourne than Vancouver Canada even though we are in the last week of our spring now. It has been a very cold spring (below 15C during the day) and only this week it is warming up, slightly.
Great video! There needs to be a lot more programs and events like that around the country to get kids involved in fishing. Looks like they were having a blast.
Absolutely. This event was just one of over 50 that took place across British Columbia, Canada during the Fathers Day weekend. It has been happening since 2003 as an initiative to create more anglers in this province.
