@stiffeg actually, the problem is the RAM itself, your ram is too big, yea i know it sounds stupid, but its true, 4gb is the limit if you want to have smooth graphics, if you have 8gb ram you need to have i7 processor

i have the e4700 and its great

i overclocked it from 2.6 to 3.3 and 1200 fsb. no bottleneck now. If you can overclock, i would recommend it because it will be a unbelievable difference. i was about to get another cpu, but now ill wait another year or so because of the performance boost. i was getting 60 fps in call of duty, now i get around 120 average

unfortunately my mobo is an off-the-shelf pc (aspire SA90) so i am unable to overclock as the option on the bios doesnt show up, gonna get a new motherboard and a Q6600 then OC that so i should be good to go

well if you do get that, get a good cooler for the q6600. those things run HOT. maybe just get a mobo that supports quad core and just use that cpu as long as possible. i promise its worth squeezing all the juice out of.

I have an Intel Quad Core running at 3.6GHZ with 8Gb of OCZ HPC Dominator X memory with a Raid-0 config and GTX 275's OverClocked. Its the fastest gaming rig i have ever built and plays Crysis at 1920X1080 4X AA at 40fps average!

I was able to max out CoD4 with my 8600GTS on 1280x1024 res. With a system like this, you can max out Crysis. Why show off a game like CoD4?

@andrewthomasTAS thats because the 8800GT kicks ass and is basically an 8800GTX- when overclocked it matches and sometimes beats the 8800GTX in some scenarios. I used to own an 8800GT Superclocked and it ran Crysis at 1680X1050 everything on Very High at playable fps. I recently upgraded to a 40" 1080P display so i needed a new Graphics card to drive the higher resolution with AA so I purchased a GTX 275 OC.

more memory doesn't always mean more performance, the 9800gt is very slow compared to the gtx 260 so the extra memory doesn't make it better due to its to slow, no doubt get the gtx 260!

nope, not even noticable. the difference between 2 gigs and 8 gigs in XP is close to nothing, let alone 4 gigs. HD space is only capacity, it has nothing to do with speed unless its 10000 RPM, which this guy's probably is just 7200.
