  • Bil Wallace has an incredible upper body , nice muscular lats. Love how he can throw that 70 mile an hour kick

  • if you listen real closely @ 1:06, you can hear somebody (1 of the announcers I think) talking about Chuck Norris & the movie...."A Force of One".

  • no se si estes de acuerdo pero te falto mencionar a dai wom mon y chuck norris que fue un autentico campeon

  • @1:26 he does the unbalanced roundhouse to a counter hook kick just like he described in a tutorial I watched of his recently on it. Amazing how he took three basic kicks and made them into something spectacular

  • KARATE IS SO MUCH BETTER AND EFFECTIVE

  • The thing I enjoy the most about this video is to know how much Mr. McCarthy would grow in Bujutsu, explore the Martial Arts beyond just the physical. I have a couple of Mr. McCarthy's books. Watashi ha Nihon no bujutsu, bunka, rekishi no benyo o shimashita mata Okinawa no bujutsu, bunka, rekishi no benkyo mo shimashita. McCarthysensei domo arigato gozaimashita.

  • What did this show?

  • not enough kick in this vid, but, any Bill Wallace are nice fights.

  • So you're the actual guy in the video? That's crazy and cool if you are, you got to fight Bill and now you're on Youtube.

  • WALLACE IS SIMPLY THE BEST OF THE BEST

  • Kickboxing was definitely different back then.

  • Man, this makes me so nostalgic. I remember watching these fights on ESPN back in the '80s and while experience has taught me better, I still love the grace of their high kicking.

  • good

  • You know, all, Bill could've been one tough MMA fighter too, if he had some time to train low kicks, and if he could kick w/ his right leg as well (Unfortunately, he couldn't use his right leg for kicking due to injury.)

  • AAHH! Looks more like light sparring to me.

  • Well, by Jimmy Miyagi's standards it would be :-)

  • OSU!! Sensei McCarthy. No disrespect to you. I know this was only an exhibition. Still, you had a few bouts with Mr. Wallace.

  • None taken my friend ... it's all good :-) My best to Miyaji sensei

  • @KenShuKanHawaii I would love to see you in the ring with Mr. Wallace, even at his age now.

  • Well, if they could get my wheelchair in there I'd be ready in an instant!

  • Very good, professional, and respectful bout. It is refreshing to see this. You can tell that these men are true martial artists.

  • I would like to hear what Bill Wallace thinks of todays UFC compared to the old full contact karate leauge of the early 1970,s.I am trying to watch these UFC matches and see what all the fuss is about before i judge it.The UFC fighter from Montreal is a well respected, friendly guy who i seen on television interviews but i never seen him fight, yet.UFC fighters look in great shape, have flashy intros to the ring, and they look like they mean business but how would they do against a Chuck Norris

  • Did you know that Bill used to commentate for the early UFC's dude? Check em out, he's got some vids of those days on here.

  • Take a look at Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida if you want a look at a few really good MMA standup fighters.

  • No!

  • Bill Wallace was the reason i joined Karate school in 1974. I used to love watching his matches and studying his style. It takes a long time to learn his spinning reverse kick but its so awesome when you can actually do the move.I seen Bill Wallace matches that didn,t last very long when his foot slammed into the side of his opponants head with that spinning kick.Bill Wallace would take out any UFC fighter today, without a doubt. Even Brock Lesner.Anybody agree?

  • mma rules or kickboxing rules?

  • BOTH

  • I love Wallace too man, but I dont think he ever fought over 170lbs. As you can see in the Wallace/Lewis match on youtube, if the kids are absorbed or deflected, the fighter can move in on wallace and remove the threat of the leg. Once someone like Lesner had his hands on him...so long Billy.

  • Come on ... what a naive thing to say! I liked Muhammad Ali, too...but he'd stand little chance against most MMA fighters. Apples and oranges pal! Wake up!

FYI, Bill was also a collegiate wrestler!

  • That is true Sensei, I met Bill Superfoot Wallace at two seminars hosted by Michael Campos. Bill does have a good wrestling and some judo (hence his knee injury), he is a great guy

  • @calibansfury

Brock Lesnar is simply a big ass side of beef. Superfoot Wallace was a great fighter in his day and defined the state of the art as the rules stipulated back then.

Furthermore most MMA fighters are merely cuts of meat that are fed into the UFC sausage machine. Dana White is an exploitative controlling bitch, and once the crowd loses interest the MMA fighter fades to nothingness and that's it.

Bill Wallace continues to be a gentleman decades later.

  • please tell me you're joking....

  • Sensei pat dont give these youtube monkeys the grace of answering there disrespectful attacks

  • Video Time frame 0:17... That warmup kick was very very fast!

  • LOL @ 1:26: "C'mon, he's tiring, get him!" As if "Superfoot" ever got tired. He still is in superb condition in his 60's. Hats off to both fighters in this exhibition fight tho!

  • I never knew that Sensei McCarthy sparred against The Superfoot!

  • Great :)

    Warm regards Sensei..

    -Indishe (Sri Lanka)

  • McCarthy sensei was this recorded at the Alantic City Convention Center on the boardwalk during the summer of 1975? Would have been the same night Joe Lewis fought Ross Scott.

  • Hehe, I've met Superfoot. Great guy, at least until your black belt test. Then it's not so fun.

  • Of course this was such a well kept secret no one ever heard of it!!!!!!!!how long do you think such an event could have been kept out of such mags as BLACL BELT etc. an hour 2 maybe?HI SENSEI PAT long time no see since AIKI KEMPO days and SENSEI HAYASHI and BOB DALGLEISH

  • The other guy is Pat McCarthy

  • Who is the other guy? He is really good too!

  • Wallace rules!

  • It ia amazing what Wallace was able to do with just a front leg roundhouse, hook and side kick. Along with a jab and left hook punch. He is truly one of a kind.

  • Bill Wallace was and still is an excellent martial artist and person.his techniques are great and can easily fit into most kickboxers repoitoire,as don the dragon demonstrates..

  • Budo? It's the modern interpretation of Japan's old fighting arts. Judo, Kendo, and Karate, etc., have all established their places in the competitive arena.

  • Damn Wallace had some Sick Kicks, and McCarthy was no slouch either; pioneers both of them and both still in the game, nice.

  • Sure don't make em like this anymore. Now it's all tatoos, roids, and tight shorts. Where is true budo? And before you blister me with nonsense..I compete and train and I'm telling you we are missing something.

  • I agree. There may be more really skilled competitive martial artists out there in the ring today, but there are fewer I think I can really respect as people. Maybe I'm idealizing the past, but I can't help but think something of the spirit has been lost.

  • You just have to watch interviews. I've seen many a fighter's personality come out during an interview. Like Remy Bonjasky, or Kevin Randleman.

  • Sir, I admire your all-round ability...you've done it all. I guess success also generates your fair share of envious losers, too. Ignore them and focus on what you're doing...so well.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this!

  • Tyson,Mark Hunt,Sugar Ray Leonard,John De Silva,Ray Sefo,Peter Maivia and Bruce Lee ..the list goes on!

  • I have to watch this a few more times to catch that great jump spin kick you hit Bill with.

Lots of fun we had that night! What a great job you did.

    Bruce Currie Sifu

  • both are great fighters

  • did you know he was the commentator at ufc#1,wallace that is

  • superfoot wallace,joe lewis,rob kaman,ramon dekkers,benny urquidez,fedor emelianenko,ernesto hoost,andy hug the greatest martial artists of al time.

  • Don't forget Ali and Roy Jones Jr.

  • he was in a jackie chan film

  • el gran bill wallace ...una leyenda ....

  • Sensei McCarthy! Your book on karate Katas was one of the first books I bought 18 years ago when I first started karate! I still have it, it's great to see you in action!!

  • This is a classic with two amazing fighters. Wow, a true classic.

  • Wow, you got in the ring with Superfoot Wallace! Many respects to you sir.

  • Great stuff, I have met and trained with Bill, great guy and top Martial Artist, unfortunately (or luckily) I missed out on a demo fight with him, we both suffered injuries in the lead up.

  • Damn, that was you?? Respect big time!

  • Hey Kyoshi, miss the training. Grant ,Sydney

  • You fought SUPERFOOT. Respect. Osu.

  • McCarthy Sensei, you got in the ring with Bill Wallace. That's very cool.

  • Actually, Bill was "da man," I was just the punching bag :-)

  • Dude...you da man :-)
