  • what size of the front steer tires euro trucks have , what size of drives , and trailer. anyone

  • @bykashka75 There are many sizes but to make things shorter. For heavy trucks they are all fitted on 22,5 (R22,5) inch rims. Most common for long distance use nowadays are 315/70 for trucks and 385/65 for trailers, for steering wheels are also used (mainly for image purposes) super single tires which are 385/55. More and more common are also so called volume or mega trucks with 3 meters loading height. Now those use 315/60 or even 295/60 on trucks and 495/45 on trailers.

  • @truck3rider what about drive dual tires? what common size do they have? if you put 385 on steer, don't you think it might slide during winter? what the max weight you can put on the steer axle?

  • @bykashka75 Well you can put any tire to dual drive axle except super singles which are steer or single tag axle and you can only fit trailer single tires to trailer. Otherwise any tire from 295 up to 315 mm wide can be fitted as dual. As for snow due to big weight of the trucks the super single is not worse in snow than any other tire, all you need is enough tread. Otherwise the heavy truck standard for axle load is 7,5 tons on steer axle and 11,5 tons on drive air suspended axle.

  • @bykashka75 do you know why did they switch from 295 to 315 on steer axle. i know that you can carry more on 315, is that the case?

  • @bykashka75 sorry I didn't notice this question before. The main reason for wider tires is that they damage the road less otherwise the max.axle load for on-road going trucks is 7.5t on steer axle and 11.5t on air suspended drive axle. There are some different limitations on dual or triple axle sets.

  • @bykashka75

some special purpose trucks like construction or forest etc. trucks use 295/80 or 315/80 tires. 295/80 were actually standard on all trucks about 15 years ago.

Oh and just in case: first number is width of the tire in millimeters and the second is height (outer ring to rim edge) of the tire in percent of the width. So for instance 315/70 R22,5 means the tire is 315 mm wide (1 inch = 25,5mm); the wall of the tire is 70% of 315 (about 220 mm) on 22,5 inch rim :)
