Nice~!3 more weeks until my 65 Gto is done. It was in my fam.since 1974... memories. Has 389, 4 speed, trips, etc... Had motor stroked. Didn't want monster power... Just a bit more than stock. Dynoed it at: 391 Hp. and 485 torque. Not bad. WHen i think back when my cousin owned it I was a little kid. He was always trying to fix it up.Rusted like crazy. He put house insulation in the floor boards!! LOL Drove around with lawn chairs!! Cmpletely restored now!! Candy apple red with white int.
I'f I had it I'd have to put a 4 speed transmission in it. It would be worth the cost of doing it. A 2 speed automatic just doesn't cut it in a great car like this but otherwise it is really awesome.
I bought a 1965 GTO in 1965 off the show room floor. Convertible, 3 2's, 360 hp, Hurst 4 speed, white interior, and Tiger gold paint. Wish I could find that one, but I am looking for all of the above and I will re-paint my Tiger gold color. Anyone out there selling? I am buying. mgk731@gmail.com
my first car ( in 1971 ) was a 65 GTO..black over black...same engine as yours..4 speed...I paid $600 for it..drove it 2 years and sold it for $900..siighhhhhh....who knew??
That's a great looking and sounding GTO. If you get a 67 let me know.

What's the name and size of the rims you got there? They suit the car perfectly. I want to get them for my 65 Catalina.
