  • Orson Welles told the same type of stories.

  • @RichardElden Fuck off.

  • Orson Wells tells the same story!

  • @kevinastraw you're right! based on the dates of the show, I presume the great orson copied it.

  • he is soooo hot!

  • Reportedly, when Edwin Booth performed Shakespeare in "Wild West" theaters, the same thing happened. Many western toughs knew the lines and mumbled along.

  • @RichardElden My goodness, you are all over the place aren't you? Quite jealous of Mr. Burton I see : )

  • @silvertongue111 Yes, you've got this character figured out. "RichardElden" seems to be the latest pseudonym of someone who has made a fetish of getting banned from YouTube. Same bizarre statements, same frothing at the mouth. Ho hum. It doesn't take a lot of sleuthing to notice the same brand of rabid goofiness posted to anything involving Richard Burton. The entertainment value is thrilling. You can't invent people like "RichardElden" - they just show up and perform for free!

  • fuck off judy dench is over rated

  • 'Tis pity Burton never lived to play King Lear. But given his great raconteurial acting in this interview (that belies Montgomery Clift's withering remark to Liz Taylor that Burton "doesn't act, he just recites"; here he does both, in his great, miraculously uniquely resonant voice born to recite) this whets my desire to see his film Hamlet. Given Burton's gift for expressing deeply inward, tortured melancholy, his restive sexuality and keen intellect and wit, likely a great Hamlet.

  • @JudgeJulieLit Why do people insist on getting wierd on Youtube by saying words like 'Tis? I mean really. Get over yourself.

  • Richard Burton is an marvelous actor, who improved with age and will prove to be one of history's best thespians. Such a pity he died young. At least he lived intensely while on earth.

  • Judy Dench is much better than that ridiculous Richard Burton was

  • @92af what rubbish.

  • @92af, oh how wrong you are.

  • @RichardElden What attack? Get a sense of humour.

  • What simpleton would think this is an attack on Churchill? This is simply a funny story. Mr. Elden needs to be banned from Youtube for making that kind of remark about Burton's death.

  • Smoking on TV needs to be brought back. I speak purely from logic on this point.

  • @GordonMorrice whats logical about smoking, mate?

  • this is great! he's just incredible, and very funny.

  • nooooooooooooooooooo please god i cant escape macready vomiting all over you tube.....

  • Robert De Niro is much better than Richard Burton was

  • @92af Robert de Niro is shit. Burton was great, if not the greatest.

  • Amazing!! - apparently Winston also "used the bathroom" in the River Rhine around March 1945 - just to show his contempt for the Nazis!!!

  • If any one has a better speaking voice than Richard Burton I'd be suprised.

  • @greenroadster Burton had a horrid chain smoker's voice. Olivier and Gielgud had much better voices anyway.

  • @JuanMacready John Gielgud was a chain smoker for most of his life and Olivier smoked for over 20 years, so i'm afraid I dont follow your reasoning.

  • @greenroadster Sir Basil Rathbone also had a much better voice than the wooden film actor Burton.

  • @JuanMacready Rathbone doesn't even compare to Burton.

  • Richard Burton was a bad actor

  • @92af Shush.

  • Actually he said "lavatory" but Burton was translating to the American audience.

  • The incident never happened anyway according to Robert Hardy.

  • @JuanMacready Burton told the (false?) story years later to David Frost with Liz Taylor..

  • So?

  • @JuanMacready You're a sixteen year old according to your profile. Any idea what Burton had achieved by your age? Your ill-informed comments are all over these clips. Live a little, get some experience and then comment.

  • @mharding2007 Well, he'd had sex with Philip Burton many times.

  • Comment removed

  • @JuanMacready There must be something going on in the life of this young lad that explains the bile, the flippant lashing out, the groundless, snarly claims. The comments aren't inspired by knowledge and don't present intelligent cultural commentary or argument so there must be something else behind it all. I wonder what?

I won't be posting here again. The standard of the boy's comments make me feel that if I went further I'd be bullying rather than sparring.

  • @mharding2007 This guy Juan has been posthumously stalking Burton. If you notice, on anything to do with Burton on Youtube, he has a shocking, nasty comment about him. He's a weirdo with a lot of time on his hands who is nurturing some sort of hatred for Burton.

  • Oh. I thought you were referring to the actual Youtube clip we were watching. Context is everything.

  • His attack on Churchill was disgusting.

  • What attack?

  • His two articles about Churchill in 1974. One was called "To Know Him is to Hate Him".

  • "and he did, he did"

    LOL

  • would have loved to have met orson welles and churchill.

  • I hope i can get a man like him in this life!! ohhh god! he was sooooo handsome!

  • Orson Welles tells a similar story.

  • Great stuff! We don't have actors like that any more.

  • Gosh, I'm thinking of Russell Crowe, Leo Di Caprio and Matthew Macfadyen all rolled up into one person...Richard Burton!

  • You left out Christopher HItchens. That's whom I'm reminded of; a natural raconteur. Even resembles Hitch a little.

  • "My Lord Hamlet, my I use your bath room?" lol

  • Excellent!

  • Thank you for posting. Richard was gorgeous!

  • You got that right! They don't make handsome men like him any more!
