'Tis pity Burton never lived to play King Lear. But given his great raconteurial acting in this interview (that belies Montgomery Clift's withering remark to Liz Taylor that Burton "doesn't act, he just recites"; here he does both, in his great, miraculously uniquely resonant voice born to recite) this whets my desire to see his film Hamlet. Given Burton's gift for expressing deeply inward, tortured melancholy, his restive sexuality and keen intellect and wit, likely a great Hamlet.
