  • Nice work Dave! I also have some djembe instruction videos for anyone looking for guidance.

  • perfect ryhthm

but if its for beginners why u dont record slower?

    :)

  • ass hole ! --'

  • David, you are perfect. In the young years i learned

to play drums but i never reeched this stile with my batterie like you with your Djembe. Thank you for your real nice videos. Greetings from germany

    Oliver Schoenefeld

  • need to know real handling.

  • Repinique is a way fuckin funner drum.

  • I love My Djembie! Its Soooooooo Adictive!

the only thing is im limited to play time due to my next door... a Djembie Drum is well worth it.

  • ooooow i can't do the double slap with my right hand because i usually doit with my left

  • If you're going to just play trap drum beats, then why play a djembe? They sound much better on a drum set anyway.

  • Can you sling a trap kit over your shoulder and take it on the bus?

  • Better is a matter of opinion. How many people play a drum kit in modern music? How many people play Djembe? It's a unique sound.

  • Give me notes i will learning this.

  • i´d like to have them too please ^^

  • This is great because this is the style I love to play too on my djembe! A lot of people think it sux playing like this for unknown reasons, but I think this style is awesome!

  • This is great!

  • moaaammmaaa super tare

  • Not traditional djembe playing but good to listen to.

  • this may not be traditional djembe technique, but it's very enjoyable and give me some new ideas about what's possible with the instrument. Impressive sound. Nice job.

  • U r crazy drummer. Yeah! It was incredible)

  • wow!:)

  • rock on my brother in christ

  • put on some shoes

  • i like your rhythm. djembe's are fun to come up with new rhythms because there is such a wide variety of sounds possible.

  • Sorry, that came out wrong: I meant to say "BUT so what". I use lots of 'fusion techniques' on the Arabic Tablah. I wasn't intending criticism.

IMO proper technique is essential, whether a "doumbek" or a djembe, as I do see a lot of people that THINK they are being creative and original, but in actuality, they are mumbling, babbling, hurting their hands - Doing anything and everything but making a concise statement. It's vitally important to learn how to articulate, so you can speak clearly.

  • Yep, good rhythm, but that sure isn't djembe technique... So what?

  • Yeah, because creativity and originality are useless, why try anything new?

  • Thank you!

  • Superb playing and sound. Thank you!

  • i like it very mutch

  • DRUM CIRCLE, BRAH

  • very smooth

  • that was great! Nice sound! thanks for sharing! :)

  • i like it :D

  • im pretty sure you can play the djembe how ever you want to.

  • there actually is a traditional technique, which is beautiful, but for purposes of people like barefootdave, and me non-traditional just works better :)

  • What are those quick little finger rolls called? You are very talented.

  • There is a difference between someone who thinks they are amazing and trys to teach people trash and someone like this who is honest and just wants to share some beats. This video has no need for negative comments.

  • I agree.

  • I would love to jam with you sometime, solid stuff indeed, jam on............

  • This is nothing near terrible, it's great really. I play djembe several years and I know that what he is doing isn't too simple to do.

  • I love this...tell me what you think of my video

  • Pfffftt... so what exactly is the point of you posting that comment? The guy has a cool drum beat going, and you just can't help yourself but knock SOMETHING. Stop whining.

  • nice!

  • wow your really really good. i've seen the other videos they are amazing too. Make some some more videos barefootdave!!!!!

  • Just stumbled in to this one while browsing, barefoot dave, but I'm glad I did...it may have more hard-rock influence than some of the other djembe videos I've seen, but it's probably the best-sounding djembe playing I've come across..gonna catch the rest of your instructions, bro'...

    Keep that beat goin'!

  • Wow, you weren't kidding about the hard rock influence. I prefer more african stuff, but that's just personal taste. Good job!

  • omg u rock. i want to be that good.

  • I love your playing. Actually it is the best I've heard in djembe playing so far.

  • nice style. what about djembe slap and tones? your fingering techn. reminds me more of dumbeck playing, keep it up!

  • Wow!! Very nice!!! I hope that i will play something cool like that in future :)

  • Wow, I love the double bass sound, is that with the fingers and thumb or are you rolling your hand forward? and what is that cupping motion you do towards the beginning? And also, God bless you for being a missionary!

  • Hey man , I do the cup with my left hand to tighten up the head to make it much higher. You can also do it with just the tips of either hand on the edge.

  • the beats sounded like a regular drum set, thats so crazy

  • Awesome, can't wait till I get my [Toca] djembe.

  • wish i had a webcam...

  • not bad. you should get together with 3 or 4 other djembes/dundun and jam it up, cause you got rythm flowing deep in your arteries. Keep up the good vibes!

  • ive got live music videos with my band with me on the djembe....check it out on my favorites

  • Youtube has messed it up ^^

  • Give me notes i will learning this.

  • yep to bad this site dont connect, I was looking forward to it. Friday im thinking about goin and getting my forst drum. Well im off to # 2, peace.

  • ООО

  • Barefootdave? cool handle. Wouldn't have anything to do with the bare foot diva Cesaria Evora would it?

  • i don't see what the problem is, the guy warned that he was a rock drummer. you're all so eager to demonstrate your knowlege.. who cares?

  • I agree, this is just what I do with them, there are many many drummers that go way past what I do. Barefootdave

  • Hello sir, actually, you are a very good drummer.BUT...your style would be better if you use it on congas...your tips/bass (on the left hand)is really close to the congas technique.well...keep up the good work.

  • Hey Joe, I have tried congas's but it takes much more hand technique and finess for me and they seem to have less tone variation so I prefer djembas, especially when miced well.

  • but u will have to wait a little bit ;) can get a cam...

  • cdr....i can latr make lot of videos with aftican rhytms :) even few brazil or whatever :D just need to get a web cam or anykind of cam to record...ya i learned those barefootdave rhytms...but my djembe is from africa..not like eiropian style...so i cant make those noise as he ;) coz it wont allow me..*not noob* :D Andrew.

  • Handey, if you tune your drum up tighter you will get all the tones I have and maybe more, BareFootDave

  • Wow ! You play like you're playing practically full drum set ! Thank you for the lessons, please make more vids. I just got my Djembe yesterday, but I can't find any rhythms on line specifically for Israeli music. Can you play any or do you know of any links? This will be for worship. Thank you !

  • yeah !! im like djambe player too ;) can u make more movies with playing? :0 and a little bit louder.. :D btw nice style~ something like that here too...but still i got more african rithms here... :)

anyway that was gr8 ) Thx for Lesson Master ;)

  • I still plan to put more on but am waiting for a place and a camera Barefootdave

  • astronzo

  • very nice
