I loved this game. I remember going to a resort as a kid and they had a CV in the lodge lobby and I spent more time playing Cosmic Avenger than playing on our vacation :)
Its too bad colecovisions are so prone to technical problems today. They don't hold up as well, hardware wise, than other classic consoles :(
I don't know about the actual electronics, but the sticks are definitely not standing the test of time. I've been told that megadrive pads will work with this, so I should give it a try some time. Many of these games may turn out to be much more rewarding with a responsive constroller.
Faulty controller ports, faulty power switches and bad power supplies are all common Colecovision problems. There is a homebrew effort to make a colecovision 2 which will eliminate all these problems and be backwards compatible with all current CV games. :)
Any joystick that works on Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 should work on ColecoVision.
But since the Atari/C64 joysticks do not have a keypad, you would have to start off with the CV controller, and then when you are done with the keypad, quickly unplug the CV controller, and plug in the Atari/C64 controller.
Or just have both controllers (CV and Atari/C64) plugged into a single port at the same time, using a Y cable.
So thats the name of this game! This is the game that turned me into a gamer. I was 5 or 6, my dad was throwing a party and I had to stay in his room and so I was playing this over and over. When he came to check on me I had gotten through that part you were just about to go in, the cave, and he was shocked because he'd never made it that far. I was overly proud to have beaten my dad. I'm still a gamer today. I want to play this again but I bet I'm better off sticking with fond memories LOL
What is your problem? Its simple really that if you dont like him talking then dont watch the video! Not complicated is it. If you want to see this game without talking then just get the colecovision emulator and the game and play it yourself. Personally I like the commentry so keep up the good work Steve as I love your videos!
See... I can't get overly annoyed by comments like his, coz at the end of the day, the only opinions that matter to me are those of my regular viewers and commenters. And I know you guys like my stuff... so I'll always keep on doing it the way I do it, and not worry about the odd silly comment from people who don't matter.
The talking and the "oh dear" Steve does is half the fun of these vids... that and when you hear the cat show up in the background, or the dogs barking.
That brings back memories. I played it with a friend when we returned from kindergarten every day Thats 25 yrs. ago!

I had an old Colecovision I was given by an employer. It had belonged to his son.
I sold it, foolishly. It was uber-fun.

Memories may prove to be better.
Saying that, my opinion of this was coloured by the fact that the controller was so unresponsive. It may be much more fun with a decent pad.

LOL: "Scramble for people who are colourblind!" You were much less PC back when this video was made! XD
P.S. I like your talking in the videos, they make it a unique experience because, after all: "There's only one Stevey Benway, one Stevey Ben-way!" :D
Ultimately, if you enjoy doing it, then that's all that counts! :)
