I assume as an evangelical Christian that Franklin believes the Old Testament is the word of God. Jesus might not have started any wars or killed anyone, but the God of the OT did -- including children: the slaying of the Canaanites and Amorites, the enslavement of the Amorite female virgins, the burning of the children of Sodom and Gamorrah, the drowning of children in the flood. America is the "Baskin-Robbins" of religion. The denominations are just different flavours of the same nutty ice cream. Take your pick, try it and if you don't like the taste or the texture, try another. The problem is that these ice cream vendors weasel their way into politics, positions of leadership and onto TV. Isn’t it interesting that the US consults with religious leaders for an opinion on the problems of Islam in America? How come they don’t ask rationalists and anti-theists like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens or Ellen Johnson? I think it is because it would expose America’s own “religious alcoholism”. News media and politicians would recognise fundamental Christianity, Mormonism and the fact that gods are only conceptual in nature. They don’t really exist and are not worth fighting over.

Ethics boards in hospitals are made up of religious folk. I assume as an evangelical Christian that Franklin believes the Old Testament is the word of God. Jesus might not have started any wars or killed anyone, but the God of the OT did -- including children: the slaying of the Canaanites and Amorites, the enslavement of the Amorite female virgins, the burning of the children of Sodom and Gamorrah, the drowning of children in the flood. Franklin has a lot of nerve posturing as a moral authority when he worships a deity who would do such things.

@Locrian08 He also doesn't seem to assume that Judaism must still be practiced today as it is instructed to be practiced in the Bible (a view shared, of course, by contemporary Jews of all stripes), but why would he not use this same perverse logic--that a religion cannot define the way it expresses and practices its own ancient tradition--to argue that not only Islam, but also 'true' Judaism "cannot be practiced here in this country"?

Love the way Rev. Franklin Graham stays on topic and answers every "challenging question" by the interviewer with dignity, grace & true Christian faith. It is appalling that so many posts in this section of youtube see "nothing wrong" with a so-called religion that would approve of (actually, require) stoning women to death or cutting off her nose or chopping off someone's arm because he stole a loaf of bread or putting out someone's eye because he looked at you askance. Why must the president proclaim his religion? The first amendment is against this. If it was important, the founding fathers would write the first amendment as "Congress to establish a Christian nation".
