  • i bet neil wishes he didn't have that barbecue before the show

  • Comment removed

  • So much excellent stuff came out of Canada - including my old Dad :D.

  • He's saying some nice open minded stuff there really. Good on in.

  • He really is one of the big ones, in my opinion. A great musician.

  • People who dislike Neil Young are pro-war liberal idiots who support Obama and Bush's wars in the middle east where the U.S. spends billions to invade and brutally occupy sovereign nations where we force them to accept democracy as a form of government at the expense of our taxpayers and the cost of countless lives of innocent U.S. soldiers and civilians. Real conservatives know the U.S. should spend that money to create new jobs! NEIL YOUNG FANS FOR RON PAUL 2012!

  • @hectorsalinasisback Alright, Drunkie.

  • Art is holy. Creativity is sacred. It's the artists, poets, mystics and prophets who can see the whole pattern. The rest of us are like ants crawling across an oil painting.

  • Just say ur agnostic Neil lol.

  • Canada's Bob Dylan. Proud to be a Canadian!!

  • what went wrong with that dude?

  • "My church is my forest" Epic.....

  • I love Neil. Love every album he has ever made.

  • Love you so much! You are great, live forever Neil.

  • Is that some kind of sauce on Neil's shirt?

  • @dcnicholas

lol. Looks like it but there is blue near the pocket. I think it's a pattern? :-)

  • @deanaf

LOL he had a Bic pen in his pocket from signing autographs and ate some ribs in the green room!

  • @thekeifernet lol. Anything is possible.

  • @dcnicholas that's not sauce, his heart is bleeding.

  • @kingjojothegreat could be another man's blood o.o

  • @dcnicholas ITS A GIFT

  • @dcnicholas he had the same shirt on a david letterman show, with that same weird spot. so i guess he bought it like that. make of that what you will.

  • @dcnicholas Jelly Donut

  • Good man.

  • @burtonchaimers.....Talent of any kind..is God given...whether he acknowledges that God is the source directly. He is a good family man he loves nature, it's beauty....natures beauty is God's paintbrush! Divinity is present in all religions that worship God and Mr.Young has my vote! He was one of my late husband's favorite artists.Critical statements about what he believes are pointless. In the end..we are ALL God's own...we all belong to him:Christian, Muslim,Jew, Buddhist, Hindu...we are His!

  • He's looking more and more like Sheriff Chambers in 'Psycho'.

  • This interview sums up about everything about music, writing and culture. That is what puts Neil, Dylan and Vic Chesnutt on a plane that can't be touched. They understood something outside of pop music and fame and reached a maturity worthy of special attention. They get it I think-but they are old people. If Hendrix had lived another couple of years he might have reached the pantheon. I would be interested in other contributions to this pantheon.

  • One day Mr Young, the book shall find you, it's a matter of time.

  • Your not listening!

  • I like your Church Neil. God's Church is You.

  • "She has taught me the beauty of the family"

    I love you Neil -

If more people could use the forest as their church - we would be a more peaceful world - the trees can only reflect themselves

  • my bible is the forest. thats exactly how i feel. dont have to feel obliged to follow a book to reach heaven when you die. and you dont have to hate muslims or jews or catholics because theyre just the same as you are with faith. i respect young more after hearing this more people should be so open minded

  • "its a gift charlie.... its a gift"

  • the last line hits it on the head: "we need something". that's human nature. because humans "need something" doesn't mean that "something" is a benevolent, yet incredibly violent invisible man in the sky.

  • I totally agree with Neil. I mean, I study the Catholic faith, but I believe in everything just the same. I think all of the religions have rules that go together with the several faiths. I believe with Christianity, Catholic is the one "true" church. And, it doesn't matter to me with other religions. Although, Nature is most likely the most prominant.

  • masajay1 It was very nice of you to post your message a few times, thanks. Didn't realize you stuttered. I doubt you would know me. I don't live in a trailer park or have a baseball cap or a beat up half ton without insurance.

Really when it comes down to it and it is sad to say you would not be allowed in my neighbourhood. If you are in fact from Spain we don't let people from bankrupt countries into ours.

Perhaps you are a security guard on one of our gates or kitchen staff.

    thanks!

  • i thought the burger thing was funny, obviously, reecy45 YOUR the fucking idiot, stay off youtube, thanks!

  • i thought the burger thing was funny, obviously, reecy45 YOUR the fucking idiot, stay off youtube, thanks!

  • A pen on his shirt or burger, you fucking idiot. Listen to the interview.

The man is a genius. An icon..............

  • @reece45 the burger thing was funny, reecy! I don`t know you, but YOU seem the fucking idiot.Kingalow wears the shirt out of respect. You should stay off youtube, thanks!

  • A Canadian original.Got to love him.

  • So true what he says, no labels needed, just have faith and let nature run its course. It's all about feeling something, I think that's why he's been so successful, he did what he felt and didn't give a shit about the rest.

  • must of been Carl's Jr. ioi

  • Neil's the best.

  • NEIL YOUNG FOR PRESIDENT! HE'S CANADIAN!

  • I am always relieved to hear famous folks come out and speak openly about alternatives to religion - thanks neil

  • I like Neil's thought's on Religion.

You don't need to got to church to be religious.

Perhaps we all have a spiritual side. We just need to choose if we want to paractice the "Faith,' that Neil speaks of.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • This guy is so real, so much the authentic man.....he's beyond brilliant. It's amazing to watch someone be in the world in a completely authentic way. Love his sense of faith.

  • Ketchup stains. Exploded pens. It's all happening.

  • One of the best!! Much respect for Neil as a human being!!

  • Love this guy. Love his views on faith....

  • LEGEND

  • Neil Young is a legend for a reason--the power of his best music. He's had an erratic career in output, and let too much mediocre or cringe-inducing music out to conflict with his exceptional work. No self-editing through much of it. But those of you who are throwing negative, half-ass comments probably have nothing to show for your life except such deflating remarks on youtube. Do something worth a fraction of one great NY song, and the world will be better for it. Otherwise, pipe down.

  • Niel Young is the quintessential Moral relativist

  • @ejgiv Name someone greater turd.

  • @SMMHonda1 How about Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Neil's generation the far less recognized Townes von Zandt? I think Pete Townshend is miles beyond Neil Young as an artist. As far as lyrics go Bob Dylan who probably laughs his head off at Neil's lyrics.

  • @ejgiv Pete Townshend????????? I think I'm beginning to understand your perspective. In that vein I would also nominate Katy Perry, she's brilliant. Dylan rode on the back of people like Woody Guthrie but could never get it right because there's nothing to him. A snide observer of the efforts of others. By the way, it was Charlie Rose who said Neil was a genius, not Neil.

  • @SMMHonda1 What have you got against Pete Townshend? His best rock songs, such as Can't Explain, Pinball Wizard, Baba O'reilly, Let My Love Open the Door, and many more are better than most if not all of Neil's rock songs, Does Neil have a single ballad that can match Behind Blue Eyes? Pete has more bite and more depth, is also less maudlin than Neil.

  • Neil,im praying for you and your faith. You were such a inspiration to me when i first started playing the guitar."Only love could break your heart"was the first song i ever played.

My faith in God helps me through everyday of my life.Iam so thankful for his provisions in this life.So thankful that the affairs of this life our in his hands.Thank you for so many memories. My prayers for you and your family.

    Rosemary

  • If you don't like a hand painted shirt, fine. Just don't go on so disrespectfully like you know better than Neil does.

  • une leçon d'humilité, de sincèrité, de respect....Je comprends mieux pourquoi j'admire ce grand Monsieur depuis si longtemps. Merci à ceux qui ont posté cet interview, vraiment...

  • Hes a good singer and his guitar's raw but needs improvement apart from that hes ok and he's still a hippie

  • That's why he's succesful, no polishing. True artist, honest and loving what he does.

  • Just saw him last night in Winnipeg EPIC Show he is a living legend

  • @haus05 Hometown hero!

  • 24 and soo much more, love his guy

  • This man has always been a hero to me. Easy to undertand why.

  • What an awesome dude.

  • I think Neil Young has been communing with the Creator God through His first book which is, Nature.

  • One of our very greatest poets.

  • Man I love this guy. As you lunatics who are "anti-religous fanatics/fundamentalists" can see, he "respects" peoples religions. LOL

  • Wow, "my church is my Forest!", this is why he has been our most prolific songwriter for over 30 years.

  • Thank You for this.

    Most Appreciated.

    Dawn/4Pequeno

  • I've always had the deepest respect for Neil just like for Michael Stipe. They're smart people. Bono could just wish beeing in their leauge.

  • neils book is the book of life.

  • He betrayed the Buffalo Springfield members from what Bruce and Dewey told me.

  • @HollywoodSoundtracks--- From what I read stephen stills was always bullying Neil in that band , and would yell at him and tell him this is my band and smack him around , I really cant believe Neil played with stills again

  • @mikehanoo33 ... Niel was the main problem of Buffalo Springfield from what I heard. I ma sure Stephen was to because he was the first frontman. I know because i knew the band personally .. Bruce and Dewey were my close friends ...

  • @HollywoodSoundtracks OK ,this was in a book I read recently , and Nash and Croz are kinda saying the same thing , I worked with guy that was neighbors with Stills , he said he was cool and they partied sometimes , so who knows , we all have are bad side , and you need a big ego to succed in the music business

  • O M G I LOVE him!!!! I love his music, but omg, what an amazingly beautiful magical spirit. thank you so much for this. thank you. peace. on you.

  • Well Neil, you shouldn't see the forests for the trees in the way you see religion. It's not about the people, it's about who they are following.

  • @SantaBarbaraDianne , true that, makes cool music, but prob hugs his trees a bit much

  • @SantaBarbaraDianne

If it works for you (SantaBarbaraDianne), meaning if it makes you happier, then more power to you.

You are losing it when you are trying to impose your belief on others.

  • @thepawn2010 I think you missed my point completely.

  • haha Davy cant debate so throws it backwards. typical liberal, nothing new here haha

  • Long hair mullet + baldspot?

Only Neil Young is allowed to do such, no one else.

  • "Selling" was success Neil? Hmmmm.

  • Pray Bret Michaels pulls through his brain anurysm as well - yes I know, Can't compare him to Neil!

  • Neil, what was that about walking in trees, here is your book you asked for.

Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

  • @hemet92544 the man is talking is what is about his faith and true to him so stop trying to impose you faith on him with some subjective little quote

  • @TomRAFC , to each his own, not. there can only be one God, the rest is lies. its simple, all of us the world over are built the same inside, organs, bones, etc. thus, one God who made all, the rest is lies

  • @hemet92544 We are not all built on the same bull shit, if we were, then you certainly would not be in charge. They way you insist that there can only be one God, leads me to believe that you have none. Just Dogma, it wont bite, just give you headache.

  • @davidoffon okay David tell us how we are built dif, is there some humans that I dont know about with eyes on side of head? ears on top of head? mouth down near the belly? penis growing out of ass? come on now Davy, tell us where some humans are built dif. be a good smart liberal and educate us as to where these dif people live...........

  • @hemet92544 . To save on time, why don't you just fuck off Mr Dick Head.Good

  • @hemet92544 Sorry, I should elaborate, arse holes are for wiping, so I'm not inclined to spend time talking to yours.

  • sure he has a gift and so does Dylan. The only difference is that Dylan bottled it!!

  • epic stain lol, i love neil young

  • no religion, just faith (Y)

  • I know Peggy, his wife. What a great thumbs up for her.

  • Did Neil explode a pen and spill a goddam burger on his shirt before going on TV? Jesus Christ!

  • Fucking LEGEND

  • @kingalow1 Oh dear lord, I think he did! Man, that is too funny! He either didn't know or didn't care, neither answer would surprise me. I will say this though- few others can pull off the rumpled/stained shirt look like Neil Young can :D

  • @kingalow1 ? me no understand? He seems so graceful to me.

  • @kingalow1 he's neil young - so we'll cut him some leeway ;)

  • @kingalow1

I'm not even a fan of the guy, but I can tell that's what makes Neil Young so great; he doesn't care about those things. He does not care about that which truly doesn't matter.

Think about it. Who in their right mind gets worked up because they have stains on their shirt? Is that something that really matters in life? Sure, it matters to people who value outward appearances more than inward character.

That's not Neil Young. He is someone who comes straight from the heart.

  • @kingalow1

Sorry for the sarcasm guys - I know his clothes are part of his 09-10 painter "look" that he wears on stage - it's part of the show. Charlie Rose probably just caught him before a show that night. I don't need any more lessons on NY - he's like my dad. :P

  • @kingalow1

There are some people who are serious about judging a person by his or her clothes. If you deliberately put paint on your shirt to a formal interview, some people will not be able to accept your appearance. Don't worry though. It is not possible to know if you are one of these judgmental people or not until you indicate how formal your words are.

  • @TheCultivatedMind

Right now I've got a shirt on with a burger all over it - because of Neil. ;P

  • @kingalow1 LOL

  • @kingalow1 Wow - you nailed it. What an eye for the key points. The best part is those other 14 people that appreciated your eagle eye.

  • @Sointula2 where's your sense of humour, Jacko?

  • @kingalow1 Ha! Actually, I've seen him wearing that shirt on stage. It has splotches of abstract colour all over it. It looks kind of funky when you see the whole shirt, but admittedly, it doesn't work so well seeing just a bit of it under a blazer. I'd bet that they added the blazer for television just because the shirt glared too much under the studio lights.

  • @walkerc585 I agree - should've given him a hat for his gleaming forehead too. ;P

  • @kingalow1 BURGERSPLOSION!!

  • @kingalow1 rofl it makes him look like a hobo

  • @kingalow1 Does it bleeping matter??

  • @coyotesong nope - just means I'm going to start dressing like Neil.

  • @kingalow1 Got it now. Droll is sometimes hard to discern in cyber text.

  • @kingalow1

That's awesome! It's a cold bowl of chili...

  • @jonterhaar hey, that was a nice lyric, back in 19 and 75

  • @kingalow1 LOL! I see your point, but I see it as Neil, just being Neil.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @kingalow1 nope, it's ketchup. He's the best!

  • THE PEN DRIP IS TOO PERFECT---you guys should listen more and stop looking so deep-the shirt's history isn' t important; it's put there for people who aren't listening.

  • @kingalow1 It's paint splattered "Pollack" fashion.

  • @kingalow1 Doesn't it look refreshing compared to the usual boring male fashion of clean shirt and jacket. It is clearly way more interesting than Charlie Rose's clothing.

  • @kingalow1 I think its paint, I believe thats his hobby these days.

  • Man...I wish I could meet Neil. I'm 25 and wish I could meet him so badly....

  • Write your own stuff. Idolizing Neil isn't what his music is about, it's all about expression.

You know you're a proper fan when you stop being obsessed with your favorite musicians.

  • Never said I was obsessed...I just respect him and like his music a lot. Thats all

  • Oh please tell us what music is ALL about. You must be so learned and wise.... I wish I could be a proper fan. :P

  • I agree. I've felt that way since I was 15. 31 now. Seen him 5 times now tho. Born in the wrong decade.

  • He's great.

But if anyone played him in a movie (especially based on this interview), it'd be Billy Bob Thornton.

  • Billy Bob i s a total asshole, and has contempt for Canada. He can suck an egg.

  • Billy Bob is a TWAT. Watch or listen to the Q on CBC interview. TWAT face, Billy Bob Thornton. I used to be a fan of him.

  • wow, what a thing to say. the part about nature and the trees was amazing, i actually find myself thinking that alot when im in a woodland area.

what a man, Young is i mean really. hes a true legend.

love him and his music, and i always will.

  • A living Legend, need I say more...

  • what a legend...hes written more great songs than Dylan, the stones and the beatles combined...love the guy, love the music...

  • Neil Young you are every mans dream to be... the family man the singer songwriter, you are everything, and i am just like you who has FAITH nothing else, bec i also dont know, and if i have a book i haven't read it, but i still have FAITH... that's the most important thing.

thank you for your Music Mr. Neil Young.... God bless

  • I love what he says about his wife and marriage as a whole. I told my dad about this (who's been married to my mom for 27 years now) and he told me Neil Young has it right.

  • don't tell your mom this! lol

    just jocking bud :)

  • @Levi 2nd best thing Joni's also a Canadian pretty good bro' oh,oh, and BC Bud. Yea Neil's a Badass for sure that lives up in them mountains up above Redwood city, Ca.

  • Perfect description of marriage & faith. Simply beautiful.

    /Ian Andrew Schneider/

  • Come & say hello to Australia's RUSHCUTTER

  • Neil rocks... what a long career.

  • Neil Young is very well the 2nd best thing to ever come out of Canada only 2nd to the tragically hip. Neil is better then the best there is better then the best there was and better then the best there ever will be. from old to new he is great. we should all bow down to the artist he was and is now even in 2010.

  • LEVISTA2... are you sure you're not talking about Bret "The Hitman" Hart? I kid, of course. All you needed to add to that was, "the execution of excellence." lol. Neil ROCKS!

  • When Bob Dylan was in Winnipeg to perform last year, he had to go visit the home where Neil lived through his teens and began his musical career!

  • he is a Deist and he doesn't even know it, or at least say it.

  • Because of that stain on his shirt I am now switching from Neil Young to Victoria Beckham her music has no stains nor her mans shirts

  • wooooowoowo he's got a stain on his shirt f--- me pathetic people all they can see is a stain on a shirt this guy is one of the greatest singer songwriters the world will ever see and they are goin ooooh oh no whooo a stain WTF

  • Mother Nature, What a beatifull ladie

  • Neil you did too many drugs, but we love you for your honesty and the early years of your musical talent. Stay cool...

  • what do you mean he has done to many drugs? The guy is looking pretty good to me and I wonder when you are his age if you will be sitting in an interview like this? If not then please don't say in your opinion he has done to many drugs.

  • @jimi44thousand i mean he did small things, like pills and weed, especially in his earlier years, but that was just like every other musician at the time.

  • Neil did you blow yer nose on yer shirt?

  • @mocus1 lmfao good call

  • Godbless you Neil...no hate...God guide you......

  • I've been listening to Neil since 1969. Anyone who knows me knows I love Neil Young. The greatest concert was I think in 1973 at exibition stadium in Toronto. It was about 8 hours long and only two bands. First it was The Band and then it was Crosby, Stills Nash and Young doing there 4-way Street. What a memory. To me he was the greatest singer-song writer of all time.

  • silverisme, I wish I had been there. I loved that time too..

  • Love Neil Young! But is that a food stain on his shirt? lol

  • hahah hilarious

    but yea neil is great

  • Comment removed

  • He's full of music sheet. Sheet's with really good songs on them. Yes.

  • Well, we know you are. It takes someone useless to take a pot shot and not give the slightest basis for his criticism. If you were one-tenth the person Neil Young is you would have something to offer instead of just detracting.

  • What are you talking about detracting? Are you kidding me? I stated an opinion, MY opinion, you dislike it, who give a fuck? look up the word detracting you fuckin nut job.

  • Nature. That's it.

  • man i respect that guy

  • my church is the forest ... pure soul neil Love u

  • he's the best
