In my opinioon, Steve should have brought the band back in at 1:27. It would have been more musical saving his mozambique and technical chops for perhaps another solo.

You may know by now but Gadd is on the road with James Taylor this summer. Still doing what others hope to do on the drums. The best most influential drummer of the last 30 years.
Steve Gadd was the 1st to introduce LINEAR drumming as we know it today. Chick Corea showed him the concept of linear drumming. Gadd developed it. After Gadd, Dave Garibaldi made it the bulk of his style. So many came after that. But Steve Gadd, his groove is deeper than a canyon. Listen to him shuffle and you will get a lesson on the "sloppy backbeat" which is the key in making a shuffle groove DEEP. After all, it IS ALL about the music. Give it up (your EGO) and let the music play itself.
I interviewed Gadd for an article a little over a year ago for an article that sadly, did not get published due to an idiotic editor. That said, Gadd is the nicest, most gracious of people. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
i went to a drum seminar by dave weckl at sam ash music in new york around 1989 and it seemed that dave copied everything from steve.noone can play like steve he is in a class all by himself.
I saw Steve at Mikell's in NYC many years ago and at a concert in NYC at the Beacon Theatre, I think it was. You can't help to stare with your mouth open going "oh my God!!" Steve Gadd is completely blessed and gifted as one of the most innovative and creative drummers who ever lived. GOD BLESS YOU STEVE!!

In my opinioon, Steve should have brought the band back in at 1:27. It would have been more musical saving his mozambique and technical chops for perhaps another solo.

You must get offended really easily. Yes i do admit that Steve is arguably the best drummer on the planet, all i did was voice an opinion. I realise by him including those same chops and rhythms in his solos, it is actually taking away from the genious of them. Oh, and feel free to spam this comment if you disagree... No offense

You may know by now but Gadd is on the road with James Taylor this summer. Still doing what others hope to do on the drums. The best most influential drummer of the last 30 years.

Steve Gadd was the 1st to introduce LINEAR drumming as we know it today. Chick Corea showed him the concept of linear drumming. Gadd developed it. After Gadd, Dave Garibaldi made it the bulk of his style. So many came after that. But Steve Gadd, his groove is deeper than a canyon. Listen to him shuffle and you will get a lesson on the "sloppy backbeat" which is the key in making a shuffle groove DEEP. After all, it IS ALL about the music. Give it up (your EGO) and let the music play itself.

I interviewed Gadd for an article a little over a year ago for an article that sadly, did not get published due to an idiotic editor. That said, Gadd is the nicest, most gracious of people. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.

i went to a drum seminar by dave weckl at sam ash music in new york around 1989 and it seemed that dave copied everything from steve.noone can play like steve he is in a class all by himself.

I worked at the Bottom Line for three years ('99 till they closed) and saw INCREDIBLE people perform there. I wished I saw Gadd there ,but I didn't.

I saw Steve at Mikell's in NYC many years ago and at a concert in NYC at the Beacon Theatre, I think it was. You can't help to stare with your mouth open going "oh my God!!" Steve Gadd is completely blessed and gifted as one of the most innovative and creative drummers who ever lived. GOD BLESS YOU STEVE!!

I used to see these guys (sometimes with David Sanborn on alto sax) at the Lone Star Cafe -- a great place to see live music, gone a long time ago. They really whipped up a groove--that Richard Tee/Gadd duo was always part of the show. Great--Thanks!!!

What cracks me up...the looks on the faces of the other musicians after the little solo. They're like "what the #%!#@ am I supposed to do now??? I just got smoked by the #!%$# drummer! My WIFE is in the audience for god's sake!!!"
