Until yesterday if you had heard of a Muslim of Palestinian descent serving in as a Major you would have been delighted.
There are people of all religion, races and backgrounds serving in the US military and many of them are Muslims.
There are Muslim Americans fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and they believe in the US and freedom as much as any other US citizen.
Characterising all Muslims as evil mass murdering whackjobs is totally unfair, inaccurate and moronic.

I have friends in the military myself, but I don't agree with them willingly fighting these wars. They are not tools, they are people I care about who allow themselves to be tools. So, when this former-soldier speaks passionately about the families of the SOLDIERS killed, does he even bother to think about the families of the INNOCENT civilians killed in our wars. For a country that loves statistics: 200,000 + to 3,000 dead is pretty goddamn hypocritical. Justify it how you want, its not working

I know Christianity. And I know it advocates a lot of similar kinds of violence that Islam is accused of. The problem lies in the absolute belief in a book. This is while intellectuals rule. They're really good at interpreting religious texts in whatever way serves their political ends. I view religious texts as languages trying to express sentiments and lessons. Some are wrong, some are great, but the whole taken as sacrosanct and holy, untouchable by humans - even though they wrote them.
