What a lovely picture Morrissey paints - coming back from a little get together, when one of your mate and his girlfriend start bickering, and she gets all emotional. She notices how little you've had to drink. "Please, won't you drive me home?", she says, welling up. Out of sympathy, you agree. During the drive, she can't help but weep and throw awkward questions at you, for which you have no answer... Sorry, that's the little image I have in my head. And one that weirdly, makes me smile.
ahaha, this song reminds me of last weekend :P...def. a random theme to sing about, along with a beautiful melody accompanying soulful vocals...aka a typical morrissey song <3...gotta love it!!!
First time i've seen it live too, really great performnce. Thanks a lot
I really love Kill Uncle era, and im not just saying that to be "Alternative" and different from everyone who says Vauxhall. I really love all songs from that time, My Love Life - Brilliant
Great track from the much under-rated - Kill Uncle - album. Smiths era Morrissey was/is great, but if you couldn't avoid adulthood, ( pretty girls making a grave of your childhood ) Morrissey's solo work is the place to be.
i wish his music still sounded like this. i wish his lyrics still meant something. the smiths was the best band ever and early moz-solo was almost as good.
Great version of this song, probably the best I've found on YouTube!

If I had to put money on it, I'm pretty sure the girlfriend's lines in this song are what mine would say about me.

This song is quite perfect, the story of my life as far as I'm concerned. Morrissey has a song for every emotion...viva la morrissey!

<33 your description. i agree, morrissey's solo stuff is worth getting into <33.

I think that "Kill Uncle" is underrated, too. I really like his first solo albums till "Southpaw Grammar"
michbeck88 2 years ago 5
There is a definite growth of emotion from the smiths to his solo work. I really think it speaks to his honesty as an artist.
