ive seen god...MOGWAI blew me away last nite in huxleys berlin.. impressing postrock+ king crimson instrumental monoliths Van der graaf and kraut like NEU! like motörhead 4 the introvertive, like dancing on architecture, like doom metal for intellectuals, like filmmusic 4 the shy..
And amongst them on some tracks: the best musician and violinist and singer scotlands, the african indie beatpoet + novelwriter Luke Sutherland(Ex Long Fin Killie/Bows/Music A.M.).Look 4 music + Livevideos with Luke..
I've heard the new album and in my opinion is their best yet. They really have changed their sound and they are a new Mogwai. Yeah, some of the tracks still have that growing momentum feel but a lot of it is varied. Check out "White Noise" and "Mexican Grand Prix" for example. The latter is reminiscent of a Joy Division song covered by a robot...It's a definite departure from anything they've done before. I love it! ;)
I hope the rest of the new album has more variety , This song and that Rano Pano song are pretty one tracked and dont have much change not as dynamic as there old stuff . They sound cool but I really want to hear what its like on cd .
@townshipps - that's a fair comment. I think sometimes they want to break free from the expected structure that we are so often presented with in terms of 'Post-Rock' i.e - the crescendos, the slow build ups. That being said, I'm sure there will be more variety when the album is finally released, and I for one am very much looking forward to it. Oh and 'Rano Pano' is excellent.

I don't really care for the beginning of this song, but the middle and end are wicked.
