HEY DOC, I've been taking 1mg of Risperidone at night time and 2mg of Lorazepam during the day time for a year and I went off the 2 drugs for almost 3 days and I began having a twitchy feeling about death. My doctor just incremented my dose by 2 mg of Respiradone at night time as I'm slowly withdrawing from Lorezepam by a fourth of a pill each week. My question to you is should I withdraw from Risperodone or should I continue taking it? And is it a good idea to withdraw from Lorazepam?

resprodal or what not was the worst experience of my life the doctor was askin me if i wanted to try it agian and i broke down had no control i figured thats what people with PTSD go through everything came back i was scared of being put int he hospital with no say....but i have rights and my right to keep to myself is my only god send....i consider my schizophrenia a gift or a blessing not a curse...also...perhaps evolution just not refined or finished....

Sir, I was on risperidone and it worked great (bipolar) but I developed a rash on my face which was no big deal to me. My VA psych has since had me on 3 others and none truly work. What do I have to do to get back on this med? This is the VA so I can't switch dr's unless I go private. All she's doing is playing CYA; I and my primary dr. don't think the rash is related. She's familiar with your channel so why not tell her to stop messing around. Just leave a note here. She'll react submissively

@kerriemercuri I did Risperidone and it did nothing for me so i swtched to Olanzapine and it helped me. I'm guessing that these drugs work on an individual basis. What might work for me might not work for you and vise versa.

First time I took risperidone (only 0.50) I felt very hazy as if I was in a physically tranquilized state. Which is not very ironic because its under the category major tranquilizer. I might be highering the dose to 4mg if side effects remain somewhat minor and the drug works to some extent. The feeling of almost a paralysis ended after I took an advil. Is this normal? is your doctor a psychiatrists? if not, they should not have prescribed risperidone to you. Risperidone is an antiphychotic drug, are you phychotic? Stay away from antiphychotic drugs, they're dangerous.

hey folks,if your suffering from psychosis accompanied by anxiety depression and paranoia,you should try cutting out food and drink that contains tannin.(example-tea, apples,cider) i noticed that if i consumed a lot of it my symptoms would increase.ironically though i was told to stay away from stimulants like caffeine and taurine,but they didnt seem to stay in the system as long as the tannin did.and dont take risperidone,it is nasty stuff.

BTW i think psychiatry has begun creating it's patients.They convince very young people that there is something wrong with them, medicate them, the medication often causes adverse side effects that are WORSE than the problems the person started out with and the new problems are medicated with more drugs that cause more problems until the person really is crazy

@DOCTOROFMINDMD It has been gone since I haven't taken any meds since that incident. I'm now on bupropion sr and I've noticed some mild full-body twitches accompanied by grunts. My docs will probably want to increase the dose soon. I'm going to call them tomorrow to report these effects. I just hope it doesn't last or get worse when increasing or changing meds. Risperidone acted very well on our son's bipolar affective disorder and worked on his psychotic symptoms immediately, however, but the prolactin levels shot up with mild gallctorihea - is there an alternative 'done that works similar without the prolactin problem.

Lamictal doesn't mix well with risperidone for me. It totally kills the risperdal effect. As for Lamictal and Lexapro... that was a better combination.
I know it's one of your favorites, but I was taken off it, I'm BP and my doctor switched me to Lamotrigine. I do not hear voices. I have never considered myself psychotic although that could be something I can't see and he can. I've had so many adjustments in 19 years I can't remember why things got switched.

Hey, I'm 18 and have severe OCD, But has been managed with 60Mgs. of Prozac. Also, They recently started me on 40Mgs. of Methlyn, however, since starting that, i have had frequent headaches, sudden tremors, and i sweat alot even when its not hot. I told my psychiatrist about it and he then put me on 0.25 Risperidone at night. Now, the only difference is i have a hard time getting myself up in the morning. What is your opinion? Is there something i should suggest to my doctor?
At work when I would put charts away I always look at the medications of people and one time a couple weeks ago I say an 11 yr old kid on lamictal, prozac, and 2.5mg of risperidone. I thought wtf poor kid.
Thanks for this! We used this with my grandmother, who was having a difficult time as she progressed into the higher stages of atypical dementia. This helped a lot of the paranoid fits at the time. We took her off of it once she calmed down, and she's still completely fine. I had an oopsy moment last week.
I ODed on 24mg of risperidone.
I went into a severely tardive dyskenesia state with akathesia.
Nobody told me any long term effects of my stupid actions.
In looking for info about this, I couldn't find much outside the realm of severe respiratory depression and death.
You say you love this med. Can you tell me any info about some case(s) of OD?
