Yvonne Elliman in no way belongs to the nations of Japan, China, or Ireland, and it's patently impossible to belong to nations in fractions, as you suggest. Culture and nationality aren't interchangeable, not that anyone can be one-quarter culturally Japanese. Go back to your first post and replace "nationality" with "ethnicity." It'll make perfect sense from all angles.

There's no such thing as one-quarter nationality by any accepted use of the term, although I guess any foolish argument can make sense to someone who creates his own definitions. Why don't you make a list of all the nations that aren't nations and send a complaint to the U.N.
