  • I drive a fit, did I died?

  • I lost my legs.

  • New challenge: at 0:55 try to find honda logo

  • I would hate to be the janitor at the IIHS

  • In real life though your not going to have a choice in what car your going to crash into. Dont drive a fit.

  • yeah thats bad..... THANKS OBAMA! the driver of that Fit is one less unemployed worker.. or a new job for someone else..

  • Wow. That's a violent ass crash. All the force from the Accord sent the Fit flying.

  • the fits cabin stayed together well. poor my a55

  • The Honda Accord did "goog" because of the frame of the car didn't fold.

  • id be a crash dummy if they gave me a free Honda Fit.

  • Seems like the Fit/Jazz is still quite safe even though the front of the car is quite short, and the crumple zone is relatively small, thanks to Honda's G-Con technology :]!!!

  • pariently Bigger Cars are much safer than smaller cars.

  • ok now lets crash a banana with a jalapeno.

  • Who cleans up after these?

  • i guess you can say it was... fit for the job

  • @P3T3RJAY lol =D

  • I think the Fit fared better than the Yaris in this crash test.

  • hahaha, Honda has side curtain airbags so that no one can see the mutilated body of the driver :P

  • longer mask always wins!

  • hmm... we have a Yaris hatchback (i think it is called Vitz elswhere), and a Volvo. well, lets say the average safety of the fleet of the family is ok.

And it is also calming to see if i crash i can just get out of the wreck easily and i do not need to bother with the crumpled door.

  • looks like party confetti when they hit with all those sparkles everywhere .

  • my friend had a head on collision in his 09 accord with a 2010 silverado at 45 mph and the guy driving the silverado got a broken leg and my friend had no injuries, only bruses i was pretty impressed.

  • thumbs up if you heard the horn in the fit

  • It looks bad, but not as bad as I'd expect for a mini. Fit took it well, crumbled paper it wasn't.

  • The Fit did better than the Yaris, that's for sure

  • 3) The Accord driver space is not compromised; the footwell collapsed about 3 inches, which is pretty well insignificant. The steering wheel moved upward about 1/3 inch; again, insignificant.

    4) In the passenger seat in an offset test, sometimes the dummy hits the airbag in a way that turns the head sideways. It's a bit unsettling, but not that dangerous.

    5) MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOOK AT THE FIT! The driver's space is collapsing and serious injury is possible.

    April 2, 2011 12:05 am

  • @zznwea I know I'm a year late, but here's my rationale for why the Accord's driver seat is safest:

    1) Airbag injuries? At this speed, they are much less of a concern than at 20 mph; the impact is the main damage dealer. For a person of my stature, the airbag wouldn't touch me until I hit it in the Accord.

    2) In the Accord's rear seat, there is no pretensioned seat belt and no frontal airbag to stabilize you; your head whips forward, and non severe head injury is likely.

  • So.... Who won?

  • Yaris & Vios Is a cola "tin" car i ever seen

  • They should crash test a Fit into a Suburban,it will make it Feat even more, lol.

  • good luck gettin out of that fit.

  • No worries! I have the Fit Sport so the spoiler should provide added protection, no? I absolutely love the Fit. It is the most practical and functional car I've ever owned.

  • What is this meant to prove, that the laws of physics are indeed correct? Wow, if you run a big car into a little car, the big one fares better, THAT MAKES SENSE! now lets throw cars off of a cliff to prove gravity exists and modern car safety cages are junk!

  • @mhansen146 Its to prove that they aren't as safe as everyone thinks they are. Ever since that smart car received a 5 star safety rating, people thought they were just as safe as every other car on the road and this finally proves them wrong.

  • From the aerial view it looks like the Fit's door is made out of tin foil.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I wis I can do that in the street drunk with out gething arested

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I wis I can do that in the street drunk

  • This is why I drive an Accord and not a compact or sub-compact

  • Even though the Honda fit took a bigger blow..the honda fits air bags open alot faster than the accords Honda Fit FTW! :P

  • @Chanchovive totally irrelevant. the "opening" of the air bags is dependent on the timing it needs to protect the occupants during a crash. A smaller car like the Fit will have faster-opening bags than a larger, more spacious sedan as the passengers in the Accord will take a relative longer amount of time to hit the air bag than a smaller, more cramped car. Airbags do not stay inflated indefinitely and only protect the passenger in a crash when the passenger hits it at a certain point in time.

  • They should have crashed cars of the same wight, like Yaris VS Fit

  • @HUMBUMTEL The point of the test was to show the differences in protection between small and mid-sized cars.

  • @HUMBUMTEL Why? Cars on the road don't only crash into cars the same weight.

  • @HUMBUMTEL

    What are the odds?...

What you said may make sense only if most of the cars driven today are in the same weight category as the Yaris or the Fit...

    But in reality, it isn't.

The results would be similar if the Accord had an head on collision with a large Hummer H2 or a commercial truck.

  • @HUMBUMTEL Life doesn't work that way. You may collide with an SUV.

  • @HUMBUMTEL i think they should do a test with one of those little bastards vs a truck like my 2008 silverado 2500hd LOL

  • Where's the ford fiesta vs fusion? I want to see a fiesta explode like a pinto

  • аккорд явно лучше перенёс лобовое столкновение, чем другой автомобиль.

  • My friend got 2007 Toyota Yaris, the driver got sleepy, crash to another car in about 30 km/h (All survived, no one injured) BUT, THE AIRBAG DIDN'T COME OUT. TOYOTA FAILS!

  • @raykrislianggi No buddy. You fail. Airbags are not supposed to deploy in low speed impacts where the forces are not that great. Get your facts straight before you start criticising the manufacturer.

  • @pilotliam Buddy, 30 km/h was just his car, the other car coming from the other way hit at approximately same speed. that's the same as crashing the car to a wall at 60 km/h. That's strong enough to break the engine inside the hood. Airbags are supposed to deploy when the hood hit something in a strong force. Even at speed of 30 km/h should be fast enough for the airbags to deploy.

  • @raykrislianggi iam sorry to say that your statement in fact isnt true two cars going 30mph crashing head on is not equivalent of a 60 mph crash!! iam not trying to sound like an ass but thats the reality of the science behind it! i at first thoght the same thing but i was proven wrong with some tests!! ( fyi) i still faled the phisics class! ..... bastards!!!

  • @rathuanyatzi lol 30 mph meets 30 mph surely destroyed, but I said 30 km/h, that's like 18-19 mph. Both cars crashing in a result or equivalent to 36-38 mph crash test.

  • @raykrislianggi ooops i didnt know that it was km/h but the statement still stands again not to sound like smart ass but your doubling the speed and that is not how these forces work if to objects of same mass colide at same speed example 60 mph the car will sustain the same crushing power of just 1 car hitingh a solid wall at 60 mph idt dosent change the crushing power.! i know its a little iffy but thats what i found out in my projects! by the way i love this debate!! your a cool person !!

  • damn, im going to die if i crash.

  • @fragmite You know I will, a truck built before saftey was a major issue, minimal seatbelt protection, and what is this airbag thing you speak of? lol!

  • @Motorfordtoyota man. i drive my honda fit for close to 2 hours a day. If i ever get into a front/side collision i am going to be soooo fucked lol

  • Keep in mind, people, these two Hondas hit at a closing speed of 80 mph. It's hard for any car to do well in that kind of accident, though they are fairly common.

  • @billp1980

the closing speed is only 40mph here . 20+20.

  • I would love to see Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X versus Subaru Impreza WRX STi crash.

  • i would love this job..

  • Considering the size of the Fit my opinion is it did very well... On the Accord side I remember a head on crash involving a 2003 Honda Accord and a 2002 Chevy Malibu outside my house... Both were traveling at 40MPH... In short the lady in the Accord walked away unscratched! On the other hand the lady in the Malibu. Well... She had the entire driver's side smashed in, her leg crushed and the steering wheel in her chest! They had to use the jaws of life on the Chevy to get her out...

  • i don't know much about what a good crash test is supposed to be like but i looked the fit did pretty good to me

  • Hit Honda with Lada and you will see that Honda is awesome!

  • fit better than yaris?

  • I don't see the Honda emblem come off!

  • well one of the most important aspects for safety is that the door remain in good shape, the yaris and fit both of them had the door disfigured although the yaris was worse, the whole point is that the door wont get pinched shut and keep the driver from getting out should he or she still be alive, but im sure in the yaris you wouldn't have to worry since it fell off

  • It looks like the curtain airbags remain inflated on the Accord for about 5 seconds.

  • Why didnt the passenger airbag in the Accord deploy?

  • @matt0t no passenger

  • @whattheheck1000 ohhh ookk yeah i forgot most cars today have the passenger seat sensor

  • @matt0t Maybe it wasent on.

  • If the Honda Fit's protection is bad, then why did they manufactured the Honda Fit????!!!!

The Honda could have a big profit if they don't manufacture this car (Man, double cost!

    Accord and Fit)

  • But still, Fit FTW!

  • @matkovicha tell that to a fat person :) lol

  • @n1u2t3z4 Yeah, really!

  • I think the Accord won. This was a competition, right?

  • I don't think the side airbags should deploy on BOTH CARS in a frontal collision

    Maybe not

  • If these damn companies stopped making their cars the size of a full-size truck the Honda Fit would have got a perfect rating I bet you not.

Do you even know how much that Accord weighs???? 3500lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >=O

The fit is just 2600lbs!!!!!!.......comparison to animal kingdom......a zebra to an elephant would be quite appropriate since the Accord weighs almost 1,000lbs more then the Fit.

    I declare this test unfair.

  • @DynastyPercussion in an accident, you don,t get to chose which car to crash into....it's does'nt matter that this crash is unfair....you won't know what you might crash into...

  • @khylie555 Okay, so lets crash the accord into a Ford F250 and see what happens.

How bout a bus. Better yet, how bout we drop a bomb on it and see what happens then. Ya never know, it could happen to you, and you want your car to be able to handle it when a bomb is accidentally dropped on it during a test flight, don't ya. C'mon, be realistic. If we're gonna set the standards so high, everyones gonna need to buy a big ass hummer, and pay 150 bucks a week to fuel the bastard.

  • fit was better than da (not so) smart and yaris

  • Comment removed

  • ФИТ ГОВНО ПОЛНОЕ

  • Not a scratch on that right headlight on the fit ;D FTW

  • Thats why you get a versa!

  • Being more crash worthy DOES NOT MEAN "SAFER"!

A heavier car has a much further braking distance and is less maneuverable.

Which means a big car is more likely to get into a crash in the first place.

    Which would you prefer?

    Survive a crash?

    Or avoid the crash altogether?

  • @DavidCraigHiser There are situations where it's unavoidable, what then? Would you still like to be the driver of the smaller car? I'm more than willing to take my chances in a 'big' car and survive a crash if one were to happen rather than a small car where my likelihood of surviving is significantly lower if a crash were to happen. 5 stars for small cars or not, it's only relative to one another. Physics still proves mid-size/full-size sedans> small cars in an accident.

  • @storage2k the majority of crashes ARE avoidable

In a light car, they are even more avoidable

  • @DavidCraigHiser In a light car, when you try to avoid the crash, you will probably overcorrect and crash into a light post, or a telephone pole.

  • @storage2k physics only shows mass to be advantageous in a head-on collision (which happens to also be the standard for testing). But head-on collision requires extreme driver error, and is not the most common type of accident. In a side or rear impact mass does not significantly effect outcome. For example, semi-trucks hit cars much more often than cars hit semi-trucks (again, braking distance), yet hitting trucks is far more often fatal than being hit by one.

  • The poor rating is telling, this is a good example of the physics involved in small car collisions.

As with the normal fit test, the safety cage stays intact and the side airbag deploys to protect the head from bouncing off hard surfaces. However, for it to earn a poor, considering the damage to the yaris, means only one possibility. Small cars transmit too much shock to the occupants. Strengthening the safety cage further won't do anything, there just isn't enough material.

  • honda fit earned " poor" even with side curtain airbags.. wow..

  • Honda UNfit.

  • مشاء الله

  • funny how they only did these tests on japanese cars and the french smart4two, try running an aveo into anything (let alone an accord) without dying.

  • Funny, going to the actual IIHS website gives the Fit a good rating for every category except roof strength.

  • lmaooooo Honda Fit... damn i just realized i drive honda Fit =(

  • Well that ACE body structure on the fit just cannot withstand the sheer overgrown Accord. Why did they have to make the Accord so big this time around?

  • i call driver seat. accord. lol.

  • Very rare that side air bags deploy in a frontal crash

BOTH cars had them go off

The Accord had ALL bags activate?

  • The airbag deployed from the steering wheel as well as both curtains, however the dummy only hit the steering wheel airbag in the Accord. On the Fit, the curtain, side, and steering wheel airbag deployed for the driver dummy.

  • the fit didn't do as bad as the yaris in this test.

  • i think the same, but they didnt score the yaris, I supouse there´s no worse than "poor" for it

  • Still... Look at the Fit!

  • watchout with honda window switch.... they can start fired your car!

  • nice english

  • Honda Fit should be Marginal instead of Poor beacuse of air curtain and less intrution then Yaris

  • the fit should have done better , needs more reinforcement from the A-pillar to then end of the car, did alot better then the yaris :(

  • are you fucken retarded fucken the car crumbles to shit well worth less shit now

  • I think they should crash a Lincoln Navigator into a Porsche 911 Turbo. That would be money well spent.

  • @profcj1969 How about a Ford Expedition vs. a Mini Cooper. That would be a very useful test.

  • @profcj1969 Yeah, one more ugly-ass, bread truck styled SUV off the road.

  • can i crash my truck into ur face, i'll give u 1 dollar ^^

  • @profcj1969 I would pay them to watch them destroy two worthless cars!

  • @Motorfordtoyota And a Corrola is worth a million dollars? lol RIGHT...wrong.

  • @profcj1969

Or a rolls phantom into a bugatti veyron!

  • I like how Honda was the only of the cars who's SIDE AIRBAGS deployed

  • this is almost as bad as the camry vs yaris crash but the fit was not damaged as bad as the yaris. it still got a poor rating

  • I don't see the point of this video and the comparison they have done here. The Accord is 32% heavier than the Fit. Of course when you slam them into each other the Fit will suffer more damage. Put the Accord against a car that weighs 830 pounds more than it does and it suffer the most damage. They should compare cars that are similar in size.

  • good point, but they were probably trying to see a more realistic crash... its almost impossible to see fit against fit right? if the smaller car can be engineered withstand this impact it would be valuable i guess

  • Yeah, in the real world Fits crash into SUV's and 18-wheelers. That's the reality we face when we buy a subcompact instead of a full size car or truck.

  • Accidents on the road are not always against vehicles of similar sizes. This comparison just goes to show you the dangers of driving less safety oriented vehicles.

  • @forezzy big is not safety oriented. Big is just needlessly big. The roads would be a lot safer without all the SUV's and pickups on the roads. The majority of the large vehicles aren't even used for hauling anyways so whats the point. It's the mentality that larger is safer that ironically makes the roads more dangerous. Thats not forget that SUVs and trucks are death traps if you roll them.

  • @Natalie5316 I was just making the comparison between the crash test of two similar vehicles verses a crash test between a large truck and one of these smaller vehicles. I actually believe safety can be engineered into every vehicle through crush zones and restraint systems, but those cost money. And people who pay money, want a big vehicle.

  • @Natalie5316 In America we are aloud to buy the vehicles that we wish to own. The roads are only as dangerous as the competency of those that travel on them. Big is safety especially nowadays when the full sized vehicles are designed with crumple zones and compartmental protection, airbags etc. Anytime you get a vehicle sideways or upside down it doesn't matter what you are driving. It's all about weight ratios. I drive efficient, safe vehicles (Camry, CR-V) but let people choose.

  • @JBTester30 Maybe we should be required to have a harder to obtain license with more safety training like a truck license for larger SUVs and trucks. Right now it's just a arms race for the bigger "safe" car and the large vehicles are very dangerous when they tailgate small vehicles and weave in and out of traffic.

  • @Natalie5316 Yeah I agree, it should be more of a challenge (not just a revenue source for the state) to get a license. I also like the idea of stricter driving laws with more permanent consequences (indefinite loss of license).

  • @JBTester30 That would be perfect. Then big cars could be used when needed and not like wrecking trucks with the attitude that they want to be safe but they don't care about the other people out there while driving the "safe" vehicle around like a maniac. In addition to your ideas which I like a lot maybe the expense of driving should be jacked up a hundred percent or more and more options for mass transit should be implemented for every day use. That way a more sustainable system is in use.

  • @JBTester30

haha, it is actualy funny (no wait, it is sad) that in America a Camry or a CR-V is considered as an efficient vehicle.

  • @2kapufa Yeah, it's sad we can't use the diesel variants that are available in other countries :(

  • @Natalie5316

haha, now even every grandma driving some huge SUV or truck I think i have to buy a tractor trailer or a tank to gain some safety advantage. When housewives buy tractor trailers, one careing for the safety of the family and children shall buy some ultra class haul track, like a Liebherr T 282 open quary dumper truck. Well, i realy do not know what will come after that, but according to the sustainable development, scientists will invent some even safer and bigger vehicle.

  • @2kapufa

ohh, and i am pretty sure there will be a hybrid variont of that ultra safe ultra big future vehicle, since that time people will really bo green. Green guys will own the hybrid mine truck with (a small V12 68,5 litre turbodiesel with two 800kW electric motors on each axle) and mock those who bought the 120 litre V16 otto-engined variant.

  • @ crimdell they're trying to make the test as realistic as possible. in the real world crashes dont always occur between cars of similar size, but between big cars and small cars etc. this video demonstrates what would hapen in the likely event of a crash between a big car and a small one

  • Uhh, that's what I said above... that Fits crash into SUV's, etc. But I still maintain that a better test is one in which all tested vehicles crash into the same object. Then we know the safest car within each classification (small, mid-size, etc.). Then I know how the Fit did compared to another subcompact I might be considering (a Toyota Yaris, for example). It is a given that a much smaller vehicle is going to sustain more damage when crashed into a larger vehicle. What's the point?

  • @chap8938 how about a realistic crash would be. cars in the same class but not the same model... Perhaps a Fit vs Versa..hmm Accord vs Fusion ... Accord vs Tree..??

  • @crimdell

That was exactly the point of this test. You would know if you had done more research.

  • Oh, I get it. Crashing a Fit into an Accord lets me know how safe a Fit is in comparison to a Yaris. Yeah, makes perfect sense now.

  • Again, no. Do you even know what the IIHS does? They crash all cars into the same deformable barrier. This particular test, as with the one with the Yaris/Camry and Smart/C-Class, is to demonstrate how a smaller car behaves in a crash with a larger car. There were only three of these tests done.

  • @revaholic OMG. I am talking about THIS test. The one where they crash two cars of different classifications against each other. I would be interested in the one where they "crash all cars into the same deformable barrier." But that is not THIS test. My only point is that THIS test is useless. Again, what's the point if we already know what is going to happen?

  • @crimdell Give it up dude, revaholic is a moron who can't read.

  • lol :43 headlight coming off the accord lol...

  • sick..

  • Jazz didnt do poor at all, at least the person/people inside are still alive

  • Yeah, considering that the test was against a car that weighs about 1/3 more than the Jazz/Fit.

  • acho q agora tinham que bater um celta de frente com o fit

    e depois uma S600 com o accord

  • Everyone no hondas are strong they were the first car ever built in febuary 1923

  • wow guess he's 13 years old LMAO

  • Thegreatjoker13 если ты такой крутой и хонды для тебя полное гэ, то ездий на своих долбаных шевроле или че там утебя есть, если есть конечно...

  • ????????????????

  • There r more fords then fucking hondas on the road has it ever occured to u that ford makes a lot better cars then honda check the web dumbass. Ford fusion HAS OUT RANKED HONDA N TOYOTA thats right dumbass u read it right honda will never be up there with GM n Ford toyota did but look at them now 4.3million recalled n the prius is very very close to being recalled as well. as for hyundai that car is a joke n still is a joke

  • honda and hyundai own your pathetic big 3 detroit..are you living in a dream world kid?....you're retarded

  • uhhhh no im not living in a dream world u lil sorry ass bitch Hyundai will NEVER get as big as the big 3 nor the pos toyota n 2 hondas r a fucking joke soooo gets ur facts straight before u ever leave a shitty lil comment like u did cause ur the fucking tart

  • go get your asshole tickled

  • However big GM may have been they still built some of the worst junk on the planet. Chrysler builds such shit cars that they have been bailed out by tax payer dollars twice now. Both of those dinosaurs need to disappear. Ford has been making some pretty decent vehicles lately, I would say they are pretty well on par with the Japanese and probably better than some of the European brands now.

  • true every car maker has had a bad car n cars that flop. i have a pontiac that i own now for 10 yrs n only had 1 major problem with it but it was due to an company installing my car alarm n then they denied it all but i always keep up on my maintenance n if the check enegine light is on i look at it right away. gm n chrylser will improve a lot more in about 3-5yrs until then ull see a gradual improvement while toyota will fall off its high horse that its on

  • GM has and has had a LOT of bad cars, they really just never gave a crap about their customers, their employees or producing a decent vehicle.

  • If it wasn`t for the big 3, Honda and Hyundai wouldn`t even exist.

Name me something that Honda developed that is on every car in the United States. Name me something that the big 3 developed that is on every car in the United States.

European and American car manufactures come up with original designs. Japanese and Korean manufacturers copy those designs and refine them. Thus without the Europeans or Americans, the Asian manufacturers couldn't survive.

  • Actually, in the '80s and up through the '90s, the Japanese kicked the big 3's ass all over the place with massive innovations like CVCC, VTEC, advanced crash structures, efficient aerodynamics, amazingly powerful and efficient engines, etc. All these innovations were taking place while the big three were still fumbling around with cars that were styled after bricks, engines that hadn't changed much since the '50s, and reliability problems galore.

  • Efficient aerodynamics, amazingly p[owerful and efficient engines? Are you kidding me. Efficient aerodynamics is something the Europeans manufactures had for years. Besides most of the 80`s Japanese cars looked like bricks just like every other car on the road.

Engines that hand`t change much since the 50`s? Just because they were pushrod motors did not mean they hadn`t changed much.

Advanced crash structures? What the hell are you talking about.

  • Exactly what I thought, you're ignorant, and that's exactly why you see things the way you do.

  • Not really. You just don`t know anything about European or American car manufactures. Your world revolves around the Japanese car companys, mainly Honda. Other car companies exist you know. Get out of your bubble for petes sake!

  • Lotus, Citreon and Porsche really did an excellent job developing efficient aerodynamics designs. The Chysler airflow, I think, was one of the first cars to be designed for air dynamics.

  • Yes the Europeans had some excellent designs, and I will admit that the Japanese emulated a good number of them. The Japanese, though, avoided the horrible reliabiliy problems that the Europeans struggled with constantly. Anyway, where the hell were the big three that Honda and Hyundai owe so much to?

  • Automatic Transmission, automobile self-starter, Power Steering, Cruise Control, Tilt Wheel, too name a few.

  • Almost none of those features are what made the Japanese brands popular. The only one out of those that any of my Hondas ever had was a starter!

  • You miss the point. The Big Three layed the groundwork for the successful production and sale of automobiles. Are you saying without the Big Three Honda or Hyundai would exist today?

The problem is you give them no respect. I know you love Japanese cars, but for Petes sake give respect to the American and European automakers. Without their inventions, and the chances they took, the automobiles today would look/function completely different.

  • I do appreciate American vehicles made before '76 (I haven't seen anything good after that year), in fact I'm quite fond of a good number of American vehicles made before that year. But since they haven't been able to keep up with many foreign companies. Though I suppose lately Ford has been catching up.

Anyway, would Honda exist if the big 3 hadn't? I don't know. Does Honda owe anything to the big 3? Hell no.

  • the japanese make cars only for money i guess, they wont make good cars for customers!

  • Yeah? So why have I never been let down by a Japanese car? Why has no one in my family been let down by a Japanese car? Why has every Japanese car I've ever owned been cheap and easy to maintain, and good on gas?

The Japanese make great cars because they care about their reputation, it's a matter of pride for them.

  • because you're are poor, i mean, only the cheap japanese you afford,

  • Japanese cars actually cost MORE than most American junk. Most poor people drive American cars, because they are not only cheaper when new, but also because they loose their value MUCH more quickly than Japanese so they are more affordable.

  • im going to have to disagree that Japanese cars cost more than American cars, the cheapest toyota is a yaris starting at $13K and the cheapest ford is a fiesta starting at $17K, however there are sadly more American cars wich lose their resale values more quickly than japanese, I think people can stop labling American cars as junk because they have really stepped up their game and have really imporved on much.
