  • You know the bible says," Judge not".God uses each person differently whos to say this is not the Holy Spirt what it takes for you may not be what it takes to move me or someone else.My dad was an old school Pastor and that's what he taught us.So we learned not to judge Gods people.Because someone could be judging us.

  • was that jasper williams preaching?

  • @oldschoolsituationz it's him alright

  • @jhs4life how do we get the whole service?

  • this i s having church even @ a funeral this is the baptist And pentecostal preaching i was brought up in and i still love it

  • Does anyone know these songs he is singing at the end?

  • @midwestchild1212 The song is an ol' spiritual entitled "Save A Seat For Me." (Lead-) I have a few more

Tears to shed. I have a few more Burdens to bear. I have a few more Times to give up the right - For the wrong. But I’m gonna keep on Pressing on the Word, Till my battle if fought - My victory is won. But if you make it in to Glory Be for I do, Please Save a seat for me."

  • it's not noise it's CELEBRATION!!! And that's a difference...

  • Well done!!

  • PREACH JASPer. THIS IS HOW YOU SEND A SERVANT OF GGOD HOME. THIS ISNT A FUNERAL THIS IS A CELEBRATION. AND I THINK JASPER DELIVERED THE MESSAGE. PREACH THE WORD.

  • What song is he singing at the end of this video?

  • Michaelahol...I think this is Pastor Jasper Williams preaching - looks like him. BTW...his church is close to my home in Atlanta. Lovely new church...and he has a second one in another part of the city. I love the pentecostal church...any Bible based church where folks praise the Lord. Say amen, somebody!

  • Does anyone have the full version of this eulogy?

  • That's the kind of Funeral Service i would like to have preach preacher preach.

  • I see some negative comments about This Preached Word. And most of these people are pew warmers in their own church that wait until after church is over and and talk about the preacher in the church parking lot. in this part of the sermon Pastor Williams was Celebrating the gospel in his sermon and that is what we call Whooping what some call just noise but I got one more thing to tell you ad that is If you don't like this noise here then HEAVEN ain't the place for you.

  • Man I've been moved by this sermon!

  • As a young child i had the opportunity to sing at Rev C.L. Franklin's funeral.and oh my God what a time, i will never forget, thank you for sharing this video, Brenda Battle Jordan

  • This the way U want my eulogy!!

  • WELL DONE!!! YES LAWD YES

  • MUSIC TO MY EARS !!!

  • Music to my ears!!!!

  • As a former member growing up in SBC I know that Pastor Williams teaches and not only whoops. The guy is very educated, he is a man of Morehouse. Most of my understanding of the bible came from his teachings of greek and hebrew meanings of the scriptures. His whole family was southern baptist preachers so whooping came natural for him, although his younger brother A.R. Williams of World Overcomers church in memphis is not a big whooper

  • Clearly sir you are SOCIALLY AND DENOMINATIONALLY IGNORENT .whooping is a Baptist tradition you dont whoop during the entire message just when your ending the message not all whooping is good or bad its a time and a place for itthis man is closing the sermon of a GREAT man of god a Legendary preacher Rev. C L Franklin

  • @hardtimes44 knowledge in the word, and alll that hollering the folks mis the message preached???That is sad situation for the body if you ??? ala

  • wat is the name of this sermon and what is he coming from

  • Now back to the video clip: did ya'll notice that preacher at :54 taking Jasper's picture in the pulpit? OMG...I just busted out laughing at the way he did it!!!

  • Sorry it was at :47.

  • But you can't cast it off as what unlearned black people listen to. Many educated black folk love the whooping style of preaching. I am amazed how God blesses some of us and we forget where we come from. Many of us were raised on that style of preaching now for many its taboo? God Help us.

  • This sermon was a homegoing celebration and the purpose of the the sermon was pointed to that end. Different sermons have different objectives. There are times that teaching is appropriate and there are times that celebration is appropriate. Just as people like their steaks served differently whooping is not for everyone.

  • let us not forget jeruselm as well as egypt are both in africa

therefore, --perhaps blacks have an innate sense of true the scripture -which is contain in spirit, hence the soulfullness, and not in a neuvo white washed bibical text that has seemingly found its way into your theology coures -pronouncing for all the word to see white is right (not). how dare you mock what you do not understand, god is all things may he have mercy on you and the likes of your demogogic demoic race

  • What ?

  • Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. Cor 12:4-6 Be Blessed IN God.

  • Both mrebonyman & mallen14298 have merit. Blacks have prescribed 2 emotionalism & d art of black preaching 4 a long time. YES this can & has lead to a shallow walk in SOME instances BUT God is not impressed w our degrees or spelling abilities-- that is 2ndary at best. Whether I whoop or exegete a text to the finest point of hermeneutical accuracy the bottom line still remains salvation thru faith in Jesus Christ. To whoop or not to whoop--that is NOT the question. I

  • The bottom line is whooping doesn't grow people! the exposition and application of the Word of God is what the Holy Spirit uses to grow and mature people, and in the case of unbelievers, bring about conviction of their sin and their need for Christ!

Whooping is why, for the most part, Black people are biblically illiterate!

  • And let me guess, you are biblically literate? Right... I'm only 23 and I enjoy a good sermon by an old school preacher, and if like you say " Black people are biblically illiterate", then they should spend more time at home in the Word we do go to church to get feed, it's just like going to school and not going home to do your homework, how can one learn?

  • Mallen:

Yes, I am very Biblically literate! I teach Theology for a living and have to know my stuff. My point simply is Black people have been fed for far too long on weak sermons that seem to put the focus on "emotionalism" rather than Biblical content and substance.

There are some very good Black preachers such as Dr. Tony Evans that have the ability to do real "Biblical Exegesis and Exposition" without all the unneccessary entertainment. Does that make since to a 23 year old? I hope so.

  • I hardly doubt teaching a couple of pre-schoolers in Sunday school qualifies you as a bible scholar LOL! So if a preacher "whoops" there's no content nor substance? Your unnecessary (this is how it's spelled by the way unlike your unneccessary [only 1 c]), is tradition to people like me. Glad you teach Sunday school instead of English with all your sentence fragments and poor grammer they wouldn't learn anything. You made sense to a '08 college gradate w/ a degree in Inorganic Chemistry :)

  • Hey...not jumping into the debate or anything...just wanted to point out if you're going to get on somebody's back for lack of education and proper English you might want to do a spell check first...seeing as how "grammar" doesn't have an "e" in it.....

    thats all.

  • @acts238kat Now is not the time to voice what you think, that little debate was ever a month ago can you spell LATE?

  • What does make sense to a 23 yr old college educated black man is that he sticks to what he knows and for me that's Inorganic and Air Traffic Control and not white woman (that's your department per your friends page so stick with what YOU know and that's the common white fish [it's in the salmon family per wiki LOL)

  • Mallen:

First, you should know that I teach at a College and a Prepatory high School, and have done it for longer than you have been alive!

Second, I know nothing about White women as I am very happily married to a beautiful Black woman. My spelling and grammar are fine. I simply typed too fast as professionals do sometimes, and overlooked the spelling.

Of course, at 23, you still are becoming an adult, so I won't be too hard on you. Have a good evening.

  • I am an adult gramps, get it together, and since when do professionals type fast? I am a CPC (Certified Professional Controller) air traffic controller (and an Inorganic Chemist), and if I type too fast the results may be unfathomable anyways... Have a goodnight sir

  • Mallen:

Well, you've met your first fast typer! Congratulations!

  • @MrEbonyman I agree wholeheartedly w/ you. Preachers who insight emotionalism is the reason why Many have been duped & led astray. Uncontrolled shouting & 'whooping' is why Many erroneously think this is the Holy Spirit, when it definitely is Not. The 'gift' of the Holy Spirit enables you to have "insight" in applying God's Word into every facit of your life. It recalls God's mind on matters thru scripture to enable us to live holy. It saddens me to see the Word twisted & misinterpreted.

  • @San47di1 I can understand if this style of preaching isn't for you but do you think that anyone can rule out what the Holy Spirit will bless. If you listen to what he saysduring his whooping, not once does he blaspheme. Some may say that one who doesn't whoop is quenching the Holy Spirit and refuseing to let Him have freedom in the message. Really, if it's not for you, that's fine but why condemn it and all who grasp it? God is pretty big and it takes many different people to preach his word.

  • @vhickerson Thank you for your message as the content of what you've said just "Proved" my point concerning those who are misled. I recommend you abandon 'worldly' sayings & actually r-e-a-d your Bible as it tells us NOT to use repetative & long speeches (which really amounts to chanting anytime you're repeating yourself over & over again). None of Jesus' Apostles & Disciples preached using uncontrolled emotionalism. They taught w/ intelligence promoting full accurate knowledge, not whooping

  • @San47di1 Not sure what you're calling worldly sayings. The bible talks about repetitiveness & long speeches but there are times when certain methods are used to emphasize the intensity of a statement such as repetiveness. And although the bible is to be taken as unmitigated truth we must note that it is written for the advancement of the spiritual man therefore some discernment should be used as guided by the Holy Spirit. And since when has God required quiet and unemotional praise and worship?

  • @vhickerson Amen!!!!

  • You sound retarted

  • "Whooping". All yall sound retarted, what the fuck is whooping. All he was doing was growling, something black people have been doing for years when it comes to preaching. It's another sign that the spirit has falling on some one. Does not mean that he is biblically illiterate. Many people thought black people dancing was retarted, "but if you read the bible it says, "that King david broke out into dance and came out of his clothes till he was nude." thats scripture" .

  • The vast majority of whoopers are clearly Biblically Illiterate! The Holy Spirit has absolutely nothing to do with whooping; that is a Black man made thing!

  • But had david not danced up out of his clothes, and a black man came along and started dancing you would have said the same thing. You would have thought that dancing was a black man thing if it was'nt in the bible. All I'm saying is that what yall want to call it "whooping, growling" which ever the case may be "when it comes to the holy spirit, theres no telling what it will make you do. I'm quiet sure that their are white folks who do the same thing as well.

  • I am not referring "Dancing", I'm referring to whooping! Preachers that spen their time whooping are not interested in growing their people in the knowledge of God's Word! Too many Black folks are biblically illiterate! And why wouldn't they be if all they hear "oh, Loooooord, coooooome on by and seeeee about meee!

  • You ain't read a word I just fucking wrote, so I'm throw. I'm let you dweel in you own ignorance. God bless

  • I read what you wrote and I said what I said! Black folks are biblically illiterate due to the nonsense in the Black pulpit!

  • @MrEbonyman there are not a black jesus are a white Jesus???Study and show yourself approved and worthy of the word>>>

  • @2008tinn That is precisely what you should do: Study to show yourself approve! If you were a serious student of the Word, you wouldn't be thinking anything about a White or Black Jesus as He clearly was neither! Also, you wouldn't be thinking that "whooping" is preaching.

  • @MrEbonyman keep in mind before you get to the hollaring, he had been teaching for about 45 min. I got the tape. I can prove it. This was an hour long eulogy

  • @jhs4life he just dumb don't prove it to kkkMrEbonyman lol

  • @men2c What's wrong with MrEbonyman. This preacher brought you a powerful message about the late, great Rev. CL Franklin with analogies that were exciting, with eloquent rhythm and metaphors relating to biblical scripture. Telling a story in historical context with dramatic passion as relevant as any found in the Old Testament. If a minister cannot present his message in such a manner that holds his parishioner's attention then who would have the patience to listen to him. He's exciting!

  • and its something i can guarantee neither one of yall can do...lol...

  • @d3zzy1990 study and show yourself that what the bible speaks on rite???

  • Whats wrong w/whoopN nd some more of it these days instead of all the talkN. Sm talkers hide their inability to whoop coz they can't. Its a healN soothing thing. As long as we got king jesus & whoopN or mournN n his name. yeaah yeeeaaaahh. little whoopN i miss it alot. thx 2 god we had it.

  • i love this sernon i look at it about 3 times a week it inspires me especially when i get ready to preach on sunday morning love pastor j williams god bless

  • what is the name of this song...or does anyone have all the words

  • the song is SAVE A SEAT FOR ME.the part he's singing is i've got a few more tears to shed i've got a few more burdens to bear i've got a few more times to give up the right for the wrong but im a going to keep on pressing onward till my battle is fought and my victory is won if you get to glory before i do save a seat for me.

  • One of the folks below said that this just sounds like noise. I guess it would to someone that doesn't understand it. But, if you have ever walked in my shoes...gone through the things many of us have gone through, you would MAKE some noise, too. In the midst of heartache, hurt and pain...that noise is praise! Lord, I praise you even I can't see my way. Lord I praise you even as I watch my husband, then father die to cancer. Lord, I praise you anyhow! Remember, the Lord is only a prayer away.

  • amen. they really just don't know...

  • @ministerzel Thats some good preaching I'm brought up in a pentecostal church and we give praises like it was a church service

  • in anycase what would you rather as a neighbor, a hyopcrite christian, or a hypocrite crack dealer ? right, so shut up !

  • Comment only on things that you know!

  • xxoorrtt, you have a lack of understanding of what it really means to be Black! This is fine if you are a pink. But if you are Black (especially in the U.S.) it's very sad for you to not understand where you've come from.

  • I know that Dr. Franklin took Jasper under his guidance and no disrespect to CL because he was the father of preaching with a tune, but sometimes the student does it better than the teacher. Jasper is the MAN

  • You are crazy, CL is waaay better than Jasper. I will give Rev. Williams his props, but I never heard a preacher whoop like Dr. Franklin.

  • Well there was Rev. W. Leo Daniels who could whoop jus as good as C. L.

  • I think that all of those ministers were good but C.L. had them all beat. A preacher made a comment in church last Sunday that got me thinking he said a lot of people miss the Word to change their lives because they're too busy waiting for the preacher to start whooping.

  • I totally agree because many folks dont even remember wat a preacher will say otha than he show can whoop. And I think ministers believe alot of times they can hide their inability to preach or lack of studying behind a whoop

  • i luv that song

  • thats the problem with the church, everybody put on blinders, until the stuff hit's the fan, my Dad's a preacher, and if he had done right he might not be sick now, CL Franklin had a congregation in my homwtown before he moved on -

I'm sure like my Dad he had his secrets, the the sisters and the brothers who benifited the most kept secret - there has been " Gay" preachers" and pedifiles, and you name it - y'all know Creflo, and Jake's ain't got no business with no air planes, but lets be..

  • I feel you

  • ihatetrash2007, I agree with you about the status of the Black Church in America and it's failure to truly address problems within, particularly those of its clergy. That said, you must understand that when it's all over each of us will stand before God and give an account of our own lives. That will be one on one with God, and he's not going to question you about the problems of the Church or your dad's problems. He'll ask about you and your secrets, and what you "ain't go no business with."

  • Y'all need to stop dogging Rev. C.L. Franklin. Saying negative things concerning the man of God, is sin and whoever is doing it is on their way to hell!

  • I havent read the comments but man of God still commit sin. Nobody walking this surface is perfect including YOU! Your not better than anybody else making negative comments about him.

  • I never said that i was perfect. I know that no one in this world is perfect. and i dont think im better than anybody.

  • Do anybody no the words to this Hymnal my grandmother don't Know and she sanged with The late Donald Veil

  • The name of the song is save a seat for me. Here are the first set of lyrics to it. It's a old song, but one I still love to hear.

I have a few moreTears to shed /

I have a few more Burdens to bear/

I have a few more Times to give up the right

    For the wrong/

But I'm gonna keep on Pressing on the word

    Till my battle is fought/

My victory is won But if u make it in Glory Be for I do/

    Save a seat for me

  • The year was 1984, to whom it may concern it is very dangerous to speak negative about a man of God no matter what mistakes he made that's between he and his maker. Often people who like to talk about negativity are not genuinely concerned for others well being. They just like to gossip. Read the book of Samuel concerning David and the death of king Saul. Remember what happend to the men who told David of Sauls death. The bible says touch not my annointed, do my Prophets no harm.

    God B!

  • Your statement presupposes that the one being spoken about negatively here was annointed or a prophet.

  • Had to have been 1984.

  • Do you know the words to the hymn

  • jhs4 life, do have any more coverage of the funeral of Dr. CL Franklin?

  • yes

  • Thanks....could you, please post some more of the coverage?

  • @jhs4life do you have any footage of the choir singing at the funeral?

  • Rev. Franklin died July 27, 1984. The homegoing was on August 4, 1984.

  • i think it was in 85 or 86

  • WHAT YEAR WAS THIS

  • Aretha's father Rev CL, he use to come to visit Greater Harvest in Chicago.

  • jasper what can you say he's the best

  • The Son of Thunder

  • my god my god man i hope my homegoin service b like this man they praising god up in that place

  • A great book to read is "A Step Into Deliverance" by T. Pugh. It is a riveting autobiographical account of one pastor's amazing battle and ultimate defeat over the spirit of jezebel. It's a real page-turner.

  • well even if that was so u suppose to rejoice when someone dies and mourn when a baby is born so as u can see their rejoicing and not mourning

  • that funeral was really preached and made me want to shout just hearing the little that i heard.i really wish there were a way i could order that message and rev. franklin message the eagle stirreth the nest.does any one know ?if so please post it for me

  • cdesha1118, you are guilty of what you just accused of another of doing. How do you know where the individual went fi aren't there with them. These type of "homegoings" are done and preached the way they are due to life that one has lived. C.L. Franklin preached hard and believed in having church, so it be on proper to send him off the way he lived. Be assured, there is a great confidence when a saint goes home so that is why we celebrate and preachers preach their services this way.

  • what r u talking about?

  • If there was any doubt that C. L. Franklin was going to Heaven, Jasper cleared it up.

  • I am a CL FRANKLIN FANATIC but what you said was so stupid. Jasper dont have a heaven or hell to put CL in! Im sure there have been sermons preached just like this and the nigga in the casket went STRAIGHT to hell!

  • if jasper has not one to put someone in what makes you think you do they might have asked GOd to enter there heart beforethey left here ;(

  • i didnt put no one in either!

  • so how do you know they went to hell

  • You don't know that for sure. I think we will al be surprised by who made it and who did not. I will say while no one is perfect, a man who fears God should have some boundaries.

  • that crap you just said aint even right

  • God bless you man or woman of God, you alright with me.

  • Thats Jess on the left. He got happy. It was only right to put jasper up!!

  • man i am shouting at work these white people are looking at me like i have lost my GOD LOVING mind

  • SANG IT!!!!

  • look At bishop Morton back there gettin happy, iswear he mus no every hymn ever writtin cuz he sing them all the time at church...lol

  • Paul morton or james morton?

  • james

  • hey do you know I can get the full video?

  • Bishop James Morton (Paul's big Brother)

  • Hahahaaa! Couldn't agree more!

  • I haven't heard the beginning but this negro preached this funeral.

  • A good sermon. He did not just hoop, he taught from the word. The message can be purchased on Jasper Williams website

  • Is there any way these sermons can be purchased

  • Hey guys, I've got some of the greatest preaching/whooping preachers such as Rev. Eugene Overstreet, Rev. Donald Parsons, Rev. Leroy Elliot, Rev. Jasper Williams can anyone help me to upload not familiar with posting on youtube

  • Please upload Leroy Elliot because he is an awesome preacher!

  • REV. WALTER E. ELLIS can you post any of him? Let us see what you speak of?

  • No I don't have any, but trust me. If anyone has some and posts some of him on here....you'll certain;y agree. I hope that someone will soon.

  • Since everyone is mentioning hoopers...i thought that i should throw the name REV. WALTER E. ELLIS as a GREAT hooper. His church is Pilgrim Rest in Montgomery, AL. Magnificent preacher adn hooper.

  • Might as well add the late great Rev. W. Leo Daniels as one of the greats I promise you...Just google him not sure if they have videos of him I'll try to find him though...

  • there are videos of him on youtube!

  • look at bishop james morton back there gettin happy...lol

  • Thats my pastor. Bishop James H. Morton

  • do you have any footage of bishop j morton? he can preach! type in rev. jerry black so you can see some more powerful preaching!!!

  • BISHOP JAMES MORTON IS COMING SOON.

  • That BOI can jump!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's one of da greatest Pulpiteers on this side of Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is this Aretha Franklin Daddy Funeral?

  • yes this is arethas father funeral

  • yes it is....,

  • everyone needs to drink water, but who wants it from a dirty glass?? I don't see anyone requesting a dirty glass in which to drink out of. It is one thing to have sinned but it is another thing to continue in it. There in lies the greatest tragedy.

  • Look at Jesse Jackson.....LOL

  • Paster J. Williams know he can rip a church up with that whooping skill plus when ever a pastor died you find a Preacher who can preach like them or carry a tune in his sermon that will make the church go crazy

  • do anybody have any footage of Rev. caesar clark?

  • you all better keep your mouth off of the men of God. your days will be cut short. "Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm," says the LORD. Jasper Williams is truly a man of God as was C.L.Franklin

  • wish i could sit in one of his sermon's, too bad i whas not even existing back then.

  • OK Everybody Listen I understand that there is a lot of speculation about Rev. Franklin but for the sake of keeping things "decent and in order" Let's stay away from who fathered so and so baby. I've seen insults on here and I did not post these videos so that people would be insulted or called names so I humbly ask every one the makes a post to use some common and respectful sense please.

  • I heard this sermon over to Mariah Dixon's house back in '85. This sermon was released on vinyl back then.

  • at 1:40 the ol' hymn sets it off. my bigmomma would have loved that

  • Both pastors have done so much for the black church as well as the black preacher. I am grateful for both of these men of God.

  • it ain't about the messenger, it's the message...God gotta use somebody...and all have sinned and come short of the glory...

  • and where are u getting your info from cdesha1118?

  • Jasper Williams and CL Franklin were both some of the worst crooks in BAPTIST PREACHING HISTORY! Williams was selling dope to his congregation and CL Franklin got convicted of drug dealings.FRANKLIN still is the best that ever stepped in the pulpit. However you cant screw your members and then save them. He sinned greatly as he was pastor over that period and was terrible.

  • Is that how your pastor got on drugs?

  • Elders thats how ur mom got on drugs. And if you read singing in a strange land, you will see that CL Franklin screwed a lot of his members and even fathered children with other women while he was married. And im sure your the type of preacher who does the same thing you jerk.

  • I read Singing In A Strange Land, Rev. C.L had ONE child outside of his marriage...it was known that he carried on relations with many women after the divorce with his wife...Rev. C.L was a man and no man is without sin.

  • rev cl is one of GOD best preach

  • Eph 5:3

    But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

  • No! Im not that kind of preacher. But I can be provoked to cuss on a regular basis. What I wanted to say was that this argument about the infidelity of any preacher is irrelavant. Whatever or whomever you think that person was or should be, BE THAT PERSON! Damn. If we stop arguing with each other and downing the memory of people who may or may not be in hell, the gospel could be preached. Brothers and sisters, that was another dispensation another time and another way.

  • tell me a man who have not sin in i tell you a man who have not sin to. no man is perfect. rev cl, is one of god best preach

  • You learn something new everyday. I think these comments are so funny, keep the comments coming!!

  • cdesha1118; you are very fool and disrespectful to these great men. First of all, you are very contridictory. How u gone be a CL Fanatic and diss him a the same time, saying he was terrible. u cant condemn him cuz u messed up plenty too. just like God had mercy on u, he did the same for them too. who are u to judge? thats just being fake. they are the 2 realist preachers to ever live so deal with it and stop correcting other folk when U are in da wrong.

  • hEY..NO ONE IS GREATER THAN PREACHING THAN C.L. FRANKLIN! bUT MAYBE U SHOULD READ HIS BOOK SINGING IN A STRANGE LAND! c.L. HAD A LOT OF CROOKED STUFF GOING ON THAT WILL BLOW UR MIND. THERE WAS EVEN MORE STUFF THAT SALVATORE WAS GONNA PUT IN THE BOOK BUT IRMA FRANKLIN WOULDNT ALLOW IT. ITS JUST THE TRUTH.

  • Thank you sooooo much for those last minutes.
