@AntipodeanAl We were so lucky to be a part of it growing up.The gig guide, for Sydney at least, used to bristle with great bands at pubs no less(often for $5 or just a more expensive beer).Miss it,you bet.
Thematically I always think of this as the definitive 70s punk take on the kind of anti-consumerist rant earlier essayed by the Stones on "Satisfaction". It is neverthless a uniquely brilliant piece of work ... my favourite Saints record and video. Plus, how cool to have the little Countdown promo clip at the start?! What a find! Thanks nzoz1978.
He,s an Inala boy. He once said the best thing he ever did was get out of there. It,s not that bad, and I can see how one of the original punk bands comes from there. It used to be white working class, now it,s asian working class. I hope the next Gurg. comes from there!
@diskochimp As awesome now as when I first heard it back in '78. A massively under-rated band they produced 3 terrific albums in their first incarnation when mostly in the UK, all of which I owned and lost in a house fire. Thank God for the internet and You tube, we can now hear stuff which was largely deleted by the record companies some time ago but totally deserves recognition today.
Never let it be forgot: the Joh Bjelke Peterson government was fascist in nature and ran a murder system which began with grab a woman off the streets and murder her within 24 hours, confess it to the police, and you were in with the in crowd of fascist murderers.
