  • can you link me the original full version as this was one of my favourite classics of all time

  • I saw this like in 95 when I was in my teens, and been looking for it everywhere, finally found it.

  • Discotek Media has rescued this movie.

  • Sci Fi channel used to show this so much.

    one of my favorites ever.

  • This was one of my first anime's I bought (other than the classic Tekka Man anime's my parents bought me)I just remember watching this over and over and till this day I still love it and will always be one of my favorites.Great hand drawn animation that can go head to head with the Disney stuff IMO.Adding animation with real life backgrounds was also a huge plus .and what other way to get introduced to the genius sounds of Joe Hisaishi. Thanks for posting this. Now I'm gonna watch :D

  • cant go to venus. these people would have burned up to a crisp.

  • @theSicilianToe they terraformed venus, thus the breathable air and not burning up

  • lets fighting love!

  • why this shitty music......whhyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • thx fir this

  • O got the dvd of this videi

  • aw i love penis wars.

  • I remember watching this on Sci-Fi channel's Saturday Anime block. The part of the earth reporter getting strip-searched is completely new to me so it must have been a part that got edited out for the TV version.

  • Modern Anime doesn't look like this anymore, everything is done with computers these days, cell coloring, mecha...it all looks dead, no more soul so to speak.

Heck, animating mecha by hand, like in this great anime, is a dying art...Come to think of it, it's probably allready dead....Such a shame.

  • you are awesome for posting this

  • dubs are fine for anime, but live action needs subs, you need to hear the original emotional intent of the actors even if in another language, but in animation the link between the image and voice is not hampered by such an issue. But seriously this is REAL anime, at a time when people were starting to call it 'Anime' instead of 'Japanese Animation'. Maybe Im getting older, but this era still seems new and fresh not 'old school', and what kind of moron complains about anime being dated???

  • FUCK DUBBBBSSSSSSSSSSS. YOU DUB HEAD.

  • God I loved Venus Wars. The DVD is so freaking rare though. There were so many great ones on VHS which either never got a DVD at all or never got one in the UK. Even some of them which had Region Free US DVDs got different dubs which weren't as well written, like Cyber City...

But yeah, Venus Wars had some gorgeous animation (except for the parts where they superimpose characters on bikes over real backgrounds, that was stupid :P) and some really touching and cool moments.

  • ok those first 2 minutes reminds me of what the TSA is starting to do... or at least in an extreme case...

  • damn

i want one of those bikes

  • I know I'll get a bunch of thumb-downs for saying this but: Animes from the 80's and 90's are, IMHO, better than the stuff they're mass producing in the contemporary (There are a few exceptions, of coarse ). Badly dubbed but that is anime's charm.

I guess it's called nostalgia. The 80's and 90s just seem so right for anime.

  • @HollyCancer

No my friend, you're absolutely right and I agree with you. I live for anime like this. I like the new stuff also like 'Black Lagoon', 'Noir' and so forth, just so long as the story doesn't get too crazy and it's not being watered down with CGI so much.

I like nostalgia anime like Venus Wars, Akira, City Hunter (my favorite!), Ninja Scroll, Armitage the 3rd, First of the North Star...the old school stuff where people relied more on drawing and not so much on computer animation.

  • @sabre926 Thumbs up! hehe, I try to find anime that are as mature as those but they seem to be very few :(

  • @XDoomriderX

There's a lot of anime I see that needs a reboot for a longer series. Examples: Golden Boy, Gunsmith Cats, Ayane's High Kick, Riding Bean. These anime had great potential like Venus Wars and deserve lots of episodes.

  • @sabre926 nononono, no reboots, I'm sick and tired of reboots, everything seems in line to have a reboot. create some new stuff that is as mature as this :D we need more cyberpunk stuff YEAH!

  • @XDoomriderX

I mean, 'reboot' was probably the wrong word. I mean...like a continuation of the series. But yeah, some new stuff like Venus Wars would kick ass totally!

  • @sabre926 I just ripped Venus Wars and Lensman from my VHS casettes.hehe

Next is Fist Of The North Star, along with 3x3 eyes.

  • @Hammern28

    Cool! Kenshiro is my hero.

    Wa-taaah! :)

  • @HollyCancer If you watched dubbed anime you were only hurting yourself. You should try living on the West Coast or near a major university; anime clubs and asian video rental places kick ass.

  • @HollyCancer it is no doubt.

  • @HollyCancer Yeah now every1 has cartoon network, the fox channel, giving meager anime, that are over repetitive, and over done. Old anime was rare, we saw gore, superheroes that actually killed, mechas, cyborgs, people that cursed, sci fi, and action to the max,m and seemed better than movies. Now its all crap, they don't even animate the mouths. Back then anime artist had to try harder to get peoples attention.

  • @HollyCancer it was

  • @HollyCancer give me recomendations. Ive watched anime for years and cant remember the good animes i caught when i was a kid! like 80s and 90s. Id love to hear your top 20

  • saw this the night it debuted on sci fi's anime week. loved it.

  • ya, that was a long long time ago

  • do Sci fi still do anime night?

  • what's the name of that song ?1:31

  • i had this years ago i this is one of my all time faves! i was always amazed this was a PG! its defo morestrong than most 15 mangas out at the time!

  • Venus Wars is the 'S'. Great story, good art work for its time, long time classic, original plot, original ending, each character had their own unique style. Its definitely up there with Akira, Harmagedon, Ninja Scroll, and Ghost in the Shell

  • This was one of the first anime movies I ever saw as a kid. Thanks for uploading it.

  • What's up with the description?

The movie's about a civil war between two countries on Venus. The only person from Earth in the whole movie is the reporter.

  • wish theres a sub version

  • As far as I am concerned this is one of the best animes of all time.

  • Its a classic hell yeah! and It gets even better when you realize how crazy it is.

  • so true classic example of great 80's/90's anime

  • I used to watch this all the time back when it first came out! This movie and Akira were my first major introductions to the less kid-friendly Anime films.

  • damn haven't this since I was a kid and it came of Sci-fi channel. Damn good memories, faved.

  • u said it man!! thats the firsttime i saw it too!!

  • Wait a second- the whole plot starts with this: the Venus atmosphere has been blown apart, and acid oceans have developed... but significant immigration occurred ANYWAY?! I mean, I'm no scientist, but if you tell me we're immigrating to a planet with no atmosphere, and flesh eating acid for oceans, I'd probably say "Fuuuuuck Yooouuuu" :P

  • watch the movie then talk shit

  • I have watched the movie, I was being sarcastic, didn't you see the smiley?

You're the kind of prick who would fuck a man in the ass and not have the common courtesy to give him a reach-around, huh?

  • lol wow man chill just because you cant get a girl dosnt mean you got to hit on me

  • lol. Nah, man. I'm just saying it was a gag, and you didn't get it. Besides, who needs one girl when you can have many? ;)

  • amen to that :)

  • 2003? its already 2009 nothing happend c",)

  • HOW DO YOU KNOW

  • 2018 r the first colonists it said

  • actually, it's 2089 when the movie is actually happening.

  • the race commentators voice is the guy from patlabor, cant think who it is yet... think its the captain

  • by the way people the guy who put this up still hasnt finished it off theres only 7 parts : :

  • So good.

  • demon city shinjuku 8-man after street fighter fatal fury project a-ko tenchi muyo in love ghost in the shell cartoon carnival gundam wing endless waltz rujin-z (it sucked balls) black magic 66 3x3 eyes
  • Roujin Z wasn't so bad, and you forgot Armitage III.

  • movies that sci-fi ran...

  • I didn't know we discovered life on venus 5 years ago:P:P:P

  • Loved when Sci-Fi showed these movies. I remember when they started showing them late at night I had to beg to stay up to watch ones like the one with the cat and some alien trying to kill everyone. Sci-Fi really needs to bring these back on or Adult Swim. There is nothing like this that is good on TV anymore.

  • This movie was the first anime I ever watched when Sci-Fi channel used to run it. Thats when I got hooked.

  • Saturday mornings, mid 90s, right? Same here! I remember seeing this, Tank Police, Demon City Shinjuku.. and a few others I couldn't even remember the names if I thought about them.

  • Yea! This and Tank police were my favorites.

  • So good.

  • agreed

  • you gotta love the 80's dude :)

  • Ive not seen tis film in a long time thanks for uploading it, I love this film

  • I haven't seen this in years, but wasn't the war between two nations on Venus while Earth was neutral?

  • Comment removed

  • Venus Wars is amazing. Most of the best anime films aren't that famous... Vampire Hunter D is probably the best japanese animated film ever, but most people don't know about it... Akira and Ninja Scroll are both severely overrated, especially Ninja Scroll... It's just an ecchi, IMO. Akira is pretty good, but I think it was just so colorful and basically large budget that made it such a big deal, but the story is too far out IMO, just like the original Ghost in the Shell.

  • Venus Wars was (still is) one of my favourite anime titles. Got it on tape somewhere... I'll have to fish it out.

  • and i just got the original soundtrack to this :D yay me!

  • I wonder why this movie isn't more popular, like other classics like Akira or Ninja Scroll. I guess kids these days want to see Naruto and other magical crap where people fly and have superpowers.

  • ya....its sad...thank god someone brought one of my old school favorite anime back...all that CG they put in anime now bugs me out

  • Thanks for uploading this- I had it on vhs but since have lost it.

  • i loved this movie when i was a kid! still do

  • Do you have japanese version too? with subtitles would love to watch it if you do. i appreciate you uploading it english tho i don't care what language it's in. i love this anime.

  • yeah, i'm still waiting on my hoverboard and my dad is still waiting for his anti gravity belt

  • lol i do agree 2003 more like 2300

  • the first colony was sent in 2018... venus wars takes place in the 72nd year of the first colony arrival, so it doesnt take place in 2003... and if you want to make fun of another time situation, Transformers The Movie, takes place in 2005, lol

  • lol 2003 so futuristic

  • 2089....

  • your are the greatest thanks for post the movie

  • I got part 2 3 up now the rest are someing up soon

  • where is there rest of the movie???

  • im still puting it up

  • i have been very paitient. take your friggin time. don't let anybody rush ya dude :)
