Dennis was a mimic but ironically, he rarely showcased that talent except on rare occasions. This episode being a good example and there was another one, on the radio, where Jack parodied Fred Allen's show and Dennis played the Ajax Cassidy character {Dennis was Irish for those who don't know, his real last name being McNulty} and he also did the Titus Moody character. Phil Harris parodied Senator Claghorne. Mary played the Portland Hoffa role and Mrs Nussbaum, I think!?
as a side note...Dennis and his wife were married for 40 years, 1948-1988. his death from ALS at the age of 72 ended the marriage. they had 10 children as well...I have no idea if any of his kids went into the entertainment business under aliases or not.

"'THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW' is next, on the CBS Television Network".
At 3:59, Don Wilson originally walked out from stage left after the curtain closed, and declared, "Jack will be back in just a moment, but first...", leading into the filmed Lucky Strike commercial omitted from this kinescope. At 6:06, a slide of John Forsythe with his series' title appeared, with Don reminding viewers, "Next week, be sure and see John Forsythe in 'BACHELOR FATHER'. Jack Benny will appear again, two weeks from tonight. 'THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM' was brought to you by..."
When I was a kid (I'm 40) my Grandmother, Mother, Aunts and Uncles used to watch the Honeymooners and the Benny Show religiously, first when they originally ran and then in repeats for many years after. Now, everytime I watch these shows it's like having all my ghosts in the room with me. I'd never seen this one before, so thank you on behalf of me and my relatives! It's hard to beat one comedic genius parodying another comic genius. Great stuff!
Just great!!.
