So cool to see them getting big! It is a lot of work, huh? You must be taking great care of them to have so many survivors so many months later. Good job!
@aljondavid Live Baby Brine Shrimp, Freeze-dried Baby Brine Shrimp Eggs, Copepods. If you can't get these, feed the fry "Hikari First Bites Fry Food" ($2 at Petsmart or Petco) in the first 6wks then switch to New Life Spectrum (.5mm sinking pellets). Feed bigger pellets as they grow. Avoid flake food to prevent swim bladder infection.
@oXJoshOx Thank you for your comment. Water was changed 100% EVERYDAY for the first 2 months. No, there were no ammonia burns. This video was taken in 2009 days before the fry was upgraded and separated between a 125gallon tank and 250gallon tank. Water parameters were regularly tested. Each tank was installed with Coralife 36w UV Filters and Aquaripure Denitrators. At 6-7 months, the goldfish were rehomed. I have only kept 13 of the original 200++ fry.
Thanks for watching! I have since upgraded them to a 120 gallon tank. It seemed like they were growing quite fast ~ almost 1/2 inch every couple weeks. Now @ 4months, they are about 3 inches. Not all are big though. Some are slow growers.
In my latest vid, I show how I use a mini siphon to vacuum they're tank EVERYDAY. Plus there's a new vid of the 4month goldies. Check it out when you have time :) Hope to see a video of your fantail soon!
great vid , amazing. Do you have to clean the tank alot? it seems a little overcrowded? also at what rate do they grow? iv got a fantail which is about the size of your 3 month olds.
