Hello everyone, I have 2011 x5 and there's a problem with all the glass especially the wind shield. I am getting burn on my face on my arms in sunny days. This windshield is defective. Do not buy or lease this car until BMW fix this problem, you will get burn. If you can not believe this like I did go ahead and google it you'll see others having the same problem. BMW invented a sun reflective technology, but it is working backwards it is burning my face. You' ve been warned.

Ahh. My friend has a 2002 X5 4.4i that has 155K miles on it and luckily for them, it has been bulletproof. They bought it new for I think 52K. When I say that got lucky, I mean they fucking lucky that it has been so reliable for them. These things are horribly unreliable and they have a vast array of issues like tranny failures, onboard computer failures, display failures, and more! They also have a new 2010 X35d
But for anyone who can pay good money and can switch it every 5-7 years, why not?
so acura is a bmw top competitor finally someone agrees with me, Man Acura kicks butt. Love this car tho ever sense they been made in 99 i'v always wanted one. The price and maintenance is a huge turn off though.

The old X5 was better with old dimensions. The BMW took too seriously those car magazine who knows all writers and increased the dimensions of X5. Those writers never wanted to accept the concept of SAv and wanted X5 to be an SUV. A false move from BMW to listen to those car magazine writers.
I have an x5 and it's the 3.0. I have to say the drive is firm but awesome. The trasmission is world class.
Also the most important thing I would have to say about the x5, is that in an event of a crash I would be safe in this car! The no maitenence for five years is great too. All in all it's a really safe veicle for a family.
5225 lbs. The Benz ML weighs hundreds of pounds less, than 5000 lbs. BMW having an extra turbo, makes up for the weight, & weirdly true, is that it displays a 1 MPG above the Benz. BMW is also Bio-Diesel Safe. The Benz isn't. I am about to purchase 1 of these 2 diesel SUV's, by NEXT Friday, & the Pro's are even steven. The price, is close to same. What's weird, is that BMW MSRP is much higher yet, I am having a hard time, getting MB dealers to go as low, as BMW, with the price.
Obviously you did not listen to the VERY BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO.. It said .. wait for it... " OPTIONAL 3RD SEATING " as in if a 3rd seat is what it takes for you to purchase this vehicle than you can have the third row seat. If you do not the third row seat then you won't have it.
the X5 is way better, head-up display rules. Also, in the seond roll, usually there is a bump that sticks up from the group in the middle seat... its not there in the X5, its actually flat there... quiet nice, more room for the feet.
@yalmond45 I would pick the X5 alot nicer but the Volvo is still a beatiful car i have an 2009 XC-70 and we are thinking about buying an X5 also then thte XC-70 because there both the same price so why don't you go for BMW.
The 3rd row seats are very very small. My friend has one. I am 5"6 and had to sit sideways across both seats. These seats are for very small children only. Also, don't get the 3.0 the 4.8 is better.
The car is way over priced and costly to repair. I could only imagine if you had to replace the tranny or anything in this ride. It is nice though but man pricey!
I would pay double for this car if I had to, so don't ever say it's over priced when you've never driven it. Costly to repair yes, doesn't matter though because you'll never get a problem this is a BMW if you didn't know...

well said, I just ordered mine with the diesel, at 425 ft lbs of tq, its actually a whole second faster 0-60 than the reg 6. Oh and its not clanky, barely tell its diesel. I sold 2 mini cooper S to buy this car, definetly a drivers car.
serious... I drove the diesel and its unmistakenly diesel. The sound clearly gives it away. Drives like any other BMW though. I would buy it except i love the sound of a petrol engine.

I personally feel this "crossover" is an absolute joke, it has no curves. It's just really boxy and the interior is worthless. I tried out four cross overs, all for third rows, the Volvo XC90, Buick Enclave, Mercedes R350, and this, but this cars third row is B.S!.
I did try it, last June along with other crossovers, and it was the bottom of the last list for my family. I had it for three days. I ended up with the Buick Enclave, since it was the Buick, Volvo, or Mercedes but the Enclave is an absolutely beautiful car, but please don't take offense to my comments, if you like then that's good if you enjoy something.

oh Yes it does! and it Competes with the likes of Gl, chevy tahoe, all bigger cars. end of discussion, get your full size suvs instead of the mid size ones, of which Only the X5 has a 3rd row. i think 3rd rows are the most crucial element in an SUV for you
