I saw this movie 20 years ago. I was thinking about how karma plays its hand in people's lives. The most beautiful thing that happened in your life could be exactly the cause of your biggest misfortune. If she hadn't met that French Lieutenant, and married him, I doubt she would volunteer for such dangerous missions twice, and died so young at 25. On the other hand, she would miss a big love in her life, would probably settle down in a dull marriage.
