I love Raoul!!! To me I can sympathize with Erik but he wasn't thinking of what Christine wanted..He tried to keep her from what she wanted and that's not love..Raoul on the other hand did everything for her and almost died half the time because he loved her so much and she loved him so that's why I'd choose him over the phantom any day!

From what I've seen, people don't like him because Gerard Butler is hotter and Raoul has a few mess-ups. I think the book does a better job of demonstrating how twisted the phantom is and why Christine can't be with him. Still love the movie though.

You know, way back even before the movie (gah, I'm such an old lady in this fandom!), I used to be a Raoul-hater. This movie- and I kind of hated the movie, or at least the movie Phantom and Christine- made me luurve him.

To everyone who makes fun of Raoul's blousy shirt during the swordfight: keep in mind that he still beats the Phantom's ass while wearing that shirt.

I agree with you. This movie makes Raoul like-able... which is so wrong in so many ways... I prefer Raoul with his moustache and fickle additude. He's more annoying that way! xD ALW does make him quite the 'Hero' however. x3

I never could understand why phanbrats insist on calling him[Raoul] a fop: Erik wears that swishy fluffy shirt too. I always thought Erik was more the fop (dress clothes, always in dress clothes--HELLO) Poor Raoul can't help being pretty. xP
