@chwd6 That does not mean that Germans are generally weird! I f.e. think, Americans and Canadians are very nice people, but I also got in conflict with some of them. And trust me, there are even worse people than some Germans!

@Razor95321 To me generalizing is not denying individual ability to think by ourselves and say no to excessive culture leading to conditioning and brain boxing. But each culture leads to tendencies in behaviors that are identifiable in every land. It's why I'm generalizing, but at social level, and I do recognize emotional differences in individuals, what make us bearable or not. But I really think they have a weird sensibility, I don't know if I'm right, just how they appear to me

@Razor95321 U're right, what I meant by "...each culture = tendencies...at social level" which allows for generalization, and "..differences...at emotional or free-thinking level", you call the latter character. F.i. Ge/Au ALWAYS pay separately except when an event dictates otherwise, i.e. not out of sentiment or generosity. 2 friends paying each a coffee and half of a slice of cake they'd shared, out of culture, conditioning. Not weird? To me yes. 1 example out of many weirdnesses.

But this is not typical for German culture. German culture ist actually very nice and kind, the only thing is that actually many Germans don´t know anything about culture and good behaviour, many Germans behave like "Assis" (German word for unsocial people).
And when I see how stupid German people act, I feel also like >Am I part of this country?<

U're part of a minority of people who think to be part of a country when in fact, due to a wider point of view, are "host on earth", i.e. universal :) I didn't criticize the Germ culture in general of course, just pondering on conditioning due to culture/education excesses as possible cause of what imo (mine only? :) are typical German/Austrian sensibility weirdnesses, with Austrians possibly the worst I've ever seen, particularly in Vienna?

@chwd6 Well, I think that Austrians are not so uncultured, vain and egoistic like Germans. I think so because I always met friendly Austrians-more than friendly Germans. There are weird people in all countries indeed, but i mentioned that Austrian and Swiss people are usually better people to deal with than Germans are. I was born and raised in Germany, but in Germany, I use to say "Egal wo du bist, es gibt immer ein Arschloch." (engl.: No matter where u are, there´s always an asshole)

In fact I don't know them at all, hence my interrogations/teasing (you understood right away, see u're different :) about behavioral-conditioning in Germany. I happen to know better Austrians for having lived among them. Out of experience, I tend to think that people from a country living abroad are often (is it true?) not representative of the people at home. I was just wondering if it has something to do with culture, how people are educated: i.e. if to German parents society principles take precedence over children's happiness. Erwin Ringel wrote something like this about Austrian people. I thought the reason could be the same for German people. I'm not American, I don't like fast food. Chill out

So one can generalize, and sure without denying the fact that there's something like individual freedom to thinking by oneself and behave differently.
