yea i dont see 805hp from seeing the dyno chart and yes ill explain to the noobs. this car is maybe pushing 740hp and around 900trq. if this was a 800 hp car you would have seen around 700-710 to the wheels not 650

I think your math could use some more exercise. :) The drivetrain loss is far more than the approx. 10% you're imagining. Try closer to 18% and you'll see.

my grandfather had the regular black series sl65 and an s65 but bitched about too much horsepower pulling on the back tires and cycling tires too quickly, destroying rubber and said it was too much maintenance to get them changed. but my dad has an s600 renntech so i still have some fun. great cars...

"The transmission upgrade consists of internal mechanical modifications. All clutch packs receive more clutches so they can transmit more torque. Some clutch packs need to be modified or replaced with custom pistons and custom made steel plates to accomplish that ."

The horsepower of a vehicle is defined as horsepower at the wheels and not at the crank. The claim of 805 horsepower is therefor absolutely bogus.

@Pioneer53 When you are talking about a vehicle as a whole like the Renntech SL65 Black Series, you define horsepower as output by the wheels and NOT at the crank. It actually shows that you are an idiot and do not even know how Renntech has come up with the 805 hp and its a purely fictitious number calculated from the 651 hp at the wheels you see in the dynotest and has been added 19%. Where does the 19% come from? Its just a guess. They have no idea how much to add and 651 is the real number!

Yes on dyno tests its defined as on the wheels. My bad.

Its normal if they use 19%..Big engine, rear wheel drive and automatic transmission. Those 3 things soaks up alot HP from the crankshaft. If it was manual, front wheel drive and a 4 cylinder engine they could use 10%.

The torque was limited to 738 in both the 65 and black series because thats all the auto could handle. I would love to chip one of these but I know a trasmition disintegration would follow. Well I could never get my hands on a black series but one of the other 65's sell for under 50 if you pick your spot

However, we have read that at least in 2009 all 350 units were sold before they hit the shores, meaning you couldn't just walk in to your favorite MB dealer and take one home. whats the conversion factor for converting wheel horsepower to crank horsepower. I would guess the automatic has more resistance than a manual?

@privatealpha For this vehicle, we use a 19% factor. The SL65 Black Series isn't offered as a true manual so we'll never know how it would compare, but yes generally a traditional automatic soaks up more HP than a traditional manual. Thanks for watching!
