What a lovely tribute. I was saddened when I learned a couple of years ago of Al’s passing but I hadn’t seen this site. I have many fond memories of Al and The Thyme from when I lived in Michigan. I was touched to see a number of photos that I had taken at Mt. Holly included here, presumably from copies I’d given to Al. Al was a great guy. Thanks for posting the memoriam. -- Rita
Great tribute- had the opportunity to work with Al for a few months after Lighthouse and he was always positive in life's challenges. A good friend-a great bassist!
Al Wilmot was my favorite bandmate from The Monuments, my roommate our freshmen year at college and my pal throughout high school in Royal Oak. The best friend you could ask for. RIP kind sir. Anyone wishing to see some of the old Monuments photos come to my 'Just Forest' page on Facebook - they are in my Blasts from the Past photo album and if you were a friend of Al's then you are a friend of mine and feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook. Yours in music, Forest
AL was the best. Second to none on bass and always right on perfect with harmony. He and I played together with the Love Sum and there was no one better. We'll miss you "ZAL", your buddy "SAL" .
Al was a great guy - I remember seeing him with The Thyme, SRC and Lighthouse. He was a talented man and a gentle soul. He would always joke around with me and my friends when we saw him. Sorry to hear of his passing - but he will live on in our hearts and in the music he left
