Optimus was originally Orion pax. However, Orion was injured, the Aerobots went back in time, saving Orion. Alpha Trion rebuilt Orion Pax into Optimus, as did he Lita One. Orion Pax had already been constructed as the upstart Autobot leader.
Primus had something to do with it, however that is FAR too long to type out.
Interesting how Magnus is batshit crazy under the Hate Plague.
The Transformers wiki article for this episode had some of Magnus's quotes and noted he was . . . In virus veritas (latin for . . In venom [or poison] there is truth) indeed.
Why is it Sky Lynx is a massive aircraft when rescuing the quintessons, but in the next scene where they're working to revive Optimus he's marginally bigger than them?
This was the 2nd most badly thought out piece of blasphemous bullshit ever to disgrace the g1 series. The 1st being Rebirth (caca) which completely missed the point of the 'Headmasters' as smaller robots becoming the bodies heads. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THEY'RE IN A LITTLE FUCKING CONTROL ROOM!!!
Wrong. The Western market needed to wrap up the G1 series as [the brand] was dying off. However, in Japan they created their own continuity to sell toys as TF was still going strong. Takara Headmasters is set right after Return of Optimus Prime finale of season 3. Ignoring Rebirth, they felt Convoy (Prime) needed to die again as they were never happy with the way he came back. That's the beef I have: I was all for him returning, but the story was awful and full of plot holes. Fail
Well said, my friend. I've tried to enjoy season 3 but I just can't. The stories are written by chimps and the cartoons are animated by AKOM. Any TF fan worth his salt should know that they [AKOM] probably destroyed the franchise in the west, because the toys were still cool, but viewers left in droves when they saw how badly their heroes were being rendered. The Japanese love Transformers as they love their robots and lots of fighting.
@johnedsel True, the brand was losing its popularity mostly due to AKOM and their cheap asses not working hard enough the animate the cartoons right. But there have been instances where AKOM didn't produce a few epsodes like "Call of The Primatives" which was done by an unknown studio group but had great animation, just not that good of a plot to it. I agree that Season 3 wasnt up to par with the previous 2 seasons, most time you hear Rodimus sounding depressed about being Leader of The Autobots
@Inikalord Rebirth may well have been _produced_ first, but that doesn't mean it precedes Headmasters in continuity. If you'd watched both, you'd realize the two were basically incompatible. The very nature of the Headmasters and Targetmasters is completely different, especially their origin stories, which unfolded before us in Rebirth, and told through flashbacks (and in the case of the Targetmasters, within the events of the show) in "Headmasters".
optimus was more damaged before he was recovered by those two humans. in the episode before this, he had one arm and his eye was messed up. and his ship exploded!! but now it explodes after he is recovered???
the sharkticons werent supposed to be infected... they were still rebelling. How the hell would the plague (which started on earth) have reached the sharkticons which, by skylynx's own words;"are in hiding in the far reaches of the galaxy".
2 thoughts: shouldent metroplex of caught the plague when UM wen't inside? thats still touching him, from the inside. and why isent the matrix currupted now too? or is it?
Ultra Magnus is a remold of Optimus Prime. That doesn't make them brothers. Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokescreen were the same mold. Sideswipe and Red Alert, etc.
Ultra Magnus was never shown as being the smaller inner robot until recently. In the cartoon and most other media, he was only shown as the larger robot.
[In the Diaclone toy series that became Transformers, Powered Convoy, the toy that would become Ultra Magnus was an upgraded version of Battle Convoy, who became Optimus Prime.]
people talk bad about Hot rod/rodimus like ultra magnus did any better, the autobots did alot of running under his watch, he was the worst leader, he wanted the position less than hot rod did....they blew him to pieces from what i can remember, and took the matrix....who else was going to lead the autobots, which most of them weren't warriors like decepticons were, they were mostly medics and scientist and peaceful robots
Yeah but Ultra magnus took over one the autobots had no cybertron...autobot city was wreaked and alot of there warriors where killed. Under those circumstances he did pretty well espically as he made sure he died before any of his troops which is a good sign of leadership. imagen if he had cybertron and autobot city running well before taking over like rodimus did.
Life on Cybertron was metallic/mechanical in nature as opposed to carbon-based. They had societal evolution, mental capacity, emotions, and a means of reproduction (!). Their technological advances were SIMILAR to ours, in that they had Quantum/Dimensional physics and computer capabilities. Medical tech, although simlar to humans (arms/legs, electrical nervous system, rational thought) differed as far as injuries go, They are more akin to human machinery, like cars and computers.
" no force in the universe can stop me" The quints revived a very arrogant Optimus. haha ,I guess he didn't see the headmaster's . but awesome episode, best of season 3
His last memories were of the Matrix transfer, his people, and the fight with Megatron, to whom I think he was referring when he made this statement, all from the '86 movie. DR SMOOV on youtube created a parody follow-up to this episode which summed up the fan sentiment almost precisely, I highly recommend it.
theyve always have been organic mechanisms, thats how people would pick up life form readings on their ships with no humans on board, or how they have emotions, get out of breath, feel pain, etc.
They were never organic, not until they became technorganic, which was the entire point of Beast Machines.
They even say it in the first 10 seconds of the very first episode: "not life as we know it today. Intelligent robots that could think and feel inhabited the cities." If they were part organic, they'd be "Cyborgs", like the GoBots.
tfwiki. net/wiki/Transformer
They have emotions, etc because they've been anthropomorphized to make kids care about them and make them actually interesting.
A Scientists infect Autobots leads to B They infect others beginning with Superion and Defensor leads to C they infect Decepticons and Humans leads to C some fly into space and infact more including Quntessons and others? leads to D Quntessons infect Sharkticons.
But why do the combiners work together instead of destroying each other?
i always loved how the sizes were always off in this show lol one second one autobot would be huge as hell next he'd be the same size as the others and vise versa X D
The ones capable were SkyLynx, Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge, the Sweeps, Astrotrain, Omega Supreme, and Cosmos. Unicron, if you count him drifting through space. It's a possiblity that Combaticon, who's name escapes me at the moment, that transformed into a space shuttle, like Astrotrain, could also fly out into space even though it was never shown, but he probably could anyway. Then in the Japanese continuity, there were a alot more transformers that could fly through space, whose names idk.
And speaking of the hate plague, I once read somewhere that some people believed this to be the inspiration for a similar hate plague from the movie 28 Days Later and it's sequel; 28 Weeks Later. But I think the inspiration for the rage virus in that movie was inspired by a 70s film called "Rabid".
Wherever it came from, I like the idea alot. But some people. think that The Return of Optimus Prime two-parter could have done without the hate plague. What do you think?
Well, personally, I think the hate plague played a significant role in resulting in Prime's return. In my opinion, had the plague not occured at all, the autobots probably wouldn't bother to revive him and would just put his body somewhere were he would rest in peace. True. Of course I have nothing against Rodimus. I mean he's not perfect, but he's okay in terms of being leader. But it just wouldn't be the same if Optimus was gone for good. One thing I would have loved to see would be for Optimus and Rodimus to develop a student/mentor relation with eachother. Maybe that way, Rodimus would learn to grow and mature a little more. After all, we must learn from the best if we are to progress.
@MDthornton83 Yes, Rodimus never had an opportunity to learn from Optimus. The events of "Transformers: The Movie" threw him right into the position as leader without any real training. And, until The Hate Plague, Rodimus did a phenomenal job as leader; he had to deal with upgraded Decepticons like Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge (along with an armada of Cyclonus and Scourge clones) and the Quintessons. I think that over time he may have evolved into a better leader than Optimus.
@MDthornton83 Optimus had an unfortunate tendency to be too compassionate for his own and everyone else's good. It actually costed him his life and a strong chance to end the war during the Battle of Autobot City. Rodimus is a character who people can identify with more than Optimus because he's not perfect--he's stubborn, headstrong, and full of self-doubt, and that's why he's my favorite Autobot.
@primerodimus1 I agree with everything you said in your comment. I will always have a fondness and respect for Optimus, but Rodimus needs love two. Besides, as you said, Rodimus's personality is more realistically written with the way he struggles with his position as leader, and is full of self doubt. In my point of view, Rodimus is like an ordinary highschool kid who dropped out of school to join the army, and gets more than he asked for.
i know its petty, but my problem with the hate plague is the transmission from organic to robotic. "spores" would have no effect on robots, since they don't have skin or lungs to absorb them and stuff.
like i said, i know its petty, but i would prefer them to have been alien nanomachine clusters or something that could feasibly apply to robots.
That's a little ominous: "No force in the Universe can stop me". Isn't Skylynx supposed to be too big for getting into normal rooms, let alone cramped little labs?
Those Decepticons are casually walking around because when have they had the chance to do some sightseeing and have some general free time? Between fighting the Autobots, trying not to have Galvatron go nuts on you, and looking for energy, it's a busy lifestyle. Crisis be damned, they want to make some memories of their time on Earth!
Do you think Sky Lynx ever curses his creator for making him into an abomination who sounds like a homosexual Englishman?
Even comic book supervillains need R&R between "jobs" and evil plans...being evil 24/7 is tiring and thankless work and the Decepticons are no exception, although what constitutes recreation for them may differ for them what it does for us humans.
The only thing I question about this part of the episode, is why are Decepticons who are not infected, casually walking about an Earth city during a crisis?
Hope that The Expandables 3 includes Optimus Prime! ;)

like i said, i know its petty, but i would prefer them to have been alien nanomachine clusters or something that could feasibly apply to robots.

Yes, we know that. Your point?

Very nice!
The only thing I question about this part of the episode, is why are Decepticons who are not infected, casually walking about an Earth city during a crisis?
Airhammer 4 years ago
Actually, they were searching for a place to hide before being found out and inected.
