  • God, that was relaxing!

  • after the initial wash, did you simply scrape with the side or end of a brush? Was that before or after the initial wash had dried?

I've never seen that technique before.

  • At first I thought this was going to be something stupid... but then I wow'd and liked this.

  • How many times have you done this same watercolor scene, or one like it? I sence a certain farmiliarity with your're movement. Nice work.

  • Excellent work, my friend. Very fresh and impressionistic. Godspeed!

  • superb, awesome, wonderful, brilliant, talented, gifted .... very inspiring. thank you.

  • Absolutely bloody brilliant! Superb! Unbelievable! I thought you could only drag paint around like that if you were working with oils!

My last watercolour of a ship on the sea took days of intensive work, but your technique makes the paint and water do most of the work for you.

You've inspired me to get out my watercolours and experiment with wet on wet for the first time (I've only ever done wet on dry; too scared to do wet on wet).

Thank you very much for posting this.

  • This is...pure awesome.

  • This is so amazing to me. I wish I had the power to let go, and let the paints do their wonder.

  • Amazing, I can watch this again and again.

  • I didnt no that you use watercolour like that

  • Maravilloso

  • It starts out looking a right mess; then it finishes as a mysterious, impressionistic thingie! Inspirational, and I have to try this.

Thanks.. And for Nora's contribution too.

    Woodrow Lister.

  • I love watching other artists paint. It's like a drug, but without the negatives. :)

  • Galing :D mucho gusto :D

  • Beautiful painting!

What's the name of the song? :)

  • what an amazing technique , love it ,are you using a peace of wood to scrape away the colour?? usually if I do it the paper get ruined and the colour would sink on it

  • cooool.....!!!

  • wunderschön!

  • i can't go to another video without liking this one!.. nice work!

  • I love this clip! I practiced this it a few times & it's more a thing of confidence. When I finished, even the 1st one looked ok... I'm no Picasso, but the key is practice & be relaxed. Don't try to copy it exactly as far as colors go. Don't go for perfection since we're in a learning phase, I'm assuming. Take your critical mind and give it a chill pill. The key is to have fun and realize it's not a lot of money to practice. U also have the other side of the paper. Good luck. : )

  • thats simply breathtaking. You make it look very easy but i guess its very hard. Im just starting out but thought this was just amazing. Might be some time before i get to this stage!! Thanks

    ATVmidlands.

  • WOW! You're really good at painting. I also want to get myself into watercolor painting! I wish I could paint like you!

Btw, what exactly were you using to scrape the excess paint off? What do you call that technique?

  • You are fantastic!

    all thanks

  • anyone knows whats the background music? :D

  • @0pgirl The music is " If I were a painter" By Norah Jones

  • @0pgirl The music is " If I were a painter" By Norah Jones.

  • Muy bueno..excelente !!!

  • that was so beautiful.... man

  • that's amazing. you make it look so easy, but I know it would take me years probably to be that good.

  • After watching this video, I am truly inspired!

  • Amazing! I am astonished at how elegant it was to watch! I am trying to begin painting with watercolor but I am too meticulous I think...what advice would you give to someone just beginning?

  • This is striking. What a pleasure to watch you work.

  • vidéo que l'on ne se lasse de regarder!vous êtes un artiste fantastique!

    Merci pour toutes vos vidéos!

  • This is what i call Pro.

  • There may be an obvious answer to this question, but what do you use at about 1:39 to scrape the paint? At first I thought it was a wooden popsicle stick, but I'm not so sure any more. Is it a bone fold creaser?

  • wow, is really great!!! more videos please!!!!!!!!

  • you are my favorite artist!!

  • Oh my god, that is gorgeous.

  • wonderful my dear

  • wonderful my dear

  • Unbelievable. You make it look so simple. I am not sure if I can reproduce this. (I am a beginner...)

One request, however, is can you put some commentary for enthusiasts like myself, so that it is easier to replicate (like the colors used etc)

  • really wow

  • really wow

  • Awesome...

  • I think the ships are awesome.

  • Looks like the Guild Wars 2 fan art :D

  • Sir you soaked the paper first, isn't that a process of stretching paper? I just wanted to know what you did after you soaked it. Thank you :)

  • I just love your style and the very cool music you play with each demo. Thanks

  • Hi! I was wondering after you soaked the paper what did you do after? I just wanted to know how you stretched your paper. Thanks :)

  • This is how watercolor is supposed to look, in my opinion. I hate all those neat artists with sketch lines scattered about. If you're going to paint something just go for it. The mistakes and imperfections more than likely make the piece stand out and truly original.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • good i like

  • shit. i'm crying

at first i was like, this guy doesn't know whats watercolor and then, i was crying

    you are really gifted

  • OMG. i was so impressed.i still am.thats amazing.really.

  • det är helt otroligt när man ser hur du utvecklar tavlan...! Fantastiskt!

  • what is this song called?

  • @neikomokona

Sounds like Norah Jones. No? She's Ravi Shankar's daughter! How interesting is that.

  • i think im in love with this portrait

  • Beautiful

  • Awsome! You are an artist in th truest sense of the word

  • EXPENSIVE PAPER DOES THE TRICK

  • Woah...you know the water's exact behavior. I'm simply speechless.

  • i wish i knew how to do this. i would sit there for hours apon hours just painting. but do you really need to "know" how to paint? probably not. i mean u didnt even think about doing that at first probably. you just went on as u were going along. but what inspires you? how do you ever figure out where to start?

  • That felt like a relaxing Sunday afternoon with a warm breeze. Awesomeness!

  • Stunning & all so simple............well after years of practice of course!

  • VEEEEEEEEEEEERE NICEEEEEEE

  • Amazing work. Love your technique. You are an inspiration . Thanks for making a great video.

What a bold style you have !!

I love your other works, too.

    Keep up your great work!

  • This is very inspiring...Thanks for sharing!!!

  • dope my friend ! cheers . . .

  • Art doesn't always have to look like something you recognize. I love this painting even though only shapes make it up, that's what unique and beautiful about the piece. You can allude to what it is but the details aren't so perfect that it's boring.

I pity that you can't understand this level of art.

  • love itttttttttt

  • That was magic!!! You are a genius.

  • You are a genius!keep it up!i like it!

  • WOW. I LOVE THIS PAINTING.

This is the master of water color. yep. *claps* amazing!

    *_*

  • why such rude comments and filthy language?

  • In art you are allowed to do anything.

  • @magdalena1342 even draw a stic figure and call it a picaso? xD

  • a+++++++++++++++++++

  • are you allowed to spray like that?

nice job, i like the dolphins

  • step 2:07 to 2:13 doesn't quite work

  • First... If you do know about art.. think before you post more crap like this... First of all... She knows what she's doing... second of all, ever heard of Artistic minds take risks to understand the art.

Second of all, she knew what she was doing Since she was drawing a water scene.. water reflects the sky.. so she saved time by doing it piece by piece :D!

Sorry if you aren't a girl btw, just seen your hand on the video xD

  • oopss correction. "HIM" lol

  • The skills are easily apparent with the line quality he uses for the subtractive scrapping he does to bring the paper back to white. Theres a subtlety the artist uses to denote waves, the shore, clouds, and the white sails of the boats.

Overmaster is a poor choice of words. Not all artists are figurative artists.

You can clearly see skill when he uses what looks like a gouache? or maybe acrylic for the white rope at the end. Maybe if you took an art class you'd see that?

  • It's actually a well-established technique called "wet-in-wet" painting. He makes it all look so easy, especially with the scraping technique, but in reality, it's hard to get something that looks like that.

  • SUPERB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
