12 FPS for the walk cycles I had going at the beginning and any basic movements, but any acting done with the mother chicken was shot in singles (24FPS) because it was quite subtle.
Because if you do it right, doubles can look just as good as singles and obviously pressing it twice for one move means you're getting through twice as much work... basically its quicker and as the phrase goes - time is money!
If you just did it at 12FPS then the animation would run twice as fast as intended because the frames are over quicker. By doubling up each frame the animation still looks ok and runs at the intended length of time...and as Gary says its quicker to shoot.
This doesn't make any sense... 24 FPS is faster than 12. Taking 2 frames for 24 FPS is exactly equal to taking 1 frame for 12 FPS. Why would you even take the time to take the 2nd frame and just take 1 at half the speed?
Well, Television runs at 24fps so it will have to be in 24FPS.
I think the point is that the mother is moved every fram because of the subtle movement, and the chicks doing the walk cycle are only moved every other frame as it is still convincing and cuts down on the work. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Okay, thanks... finally I get it. It's because some characters need to have smoother movenent or others don't need as much. Personally I'd just move the chicks half as much but for every frame, but that's if I have time.
Yes thats correct - you have to remember all video will PLAY at a speed of 24fps/25fps/30fps (depending on where you are the world) so to say it was shot at 12fps means that it will appear to run twice the speed as intended. Unless you double the frames, keeping the timing but halving the frames you use.
Shooting 24fps would be more detailed yes, but takes more time.
To be honest and direct I am crap at doubles and didn't feel comfident enough to act at that speed, its still new to me as I have always done EVERYTHING in single frames. I can kind of manage it with basic movements but not with complicated stuff! :)
battnball, whats cam?

No.1 has been and gone, this one airs on the 22nd of this month. It's regional though, so unless you in the North East of England you won't see it!

I like it alot! Good luck, I hope we get a good response.

This is great! The comments on this video really helped me too.

That is class Gary! How did you get the hand to come into the animation, did u have to still frame your hand or was the hand edited in digitally?

Its all done in cam, no after effects with that. But the back ground is all keyed in, the huts, fence and washing line are GC models.

Very nice Gary! Impression stuff again, I'll be keeping my eye out for this one.

Very, very nice work. The animation was perfect. What FPS is that? 30? 33?

Okay... I never really got this... why do you take 2 of the same frame?

Then why wouldn't you just use 12 FPS?

Yeah... same with me I guess... even though I've never tried doubles.
