this law makes me so angry. i havent used these stickers since the law went into effect, and havent gotten caught or fined or anything. honestly, its worth paying the fine no matter how many times you get caught. i will absolutely never use the stickers. its profiling and just as you said, discrimination.
I'm pretty sure there is a reason that it singles out this certain age group -- they are immature. Though a 25 year old maybe have less or equal driving experience than a 17 year old, they have much more life experience and are better equipped to make important decisions. Also, your argument comparing Kyleigh's Law stickers to the tourist stickers in Florida is invalid. Criminals singled out tourists because they were unfamiliar with the area, and therefore gullible and vulnerable.
@novakti0n Your argument that 17 year olds deserve to have a sticker on their car because they’re immature is silly.Off that logic, every person 21 and over must put a sticker on their car because they are able to consume alcohol and are more likely going to drink and drive. And, I’m not sure about you, but I’m pretty sure myself, the law, and the people who are affected by drunk drivers would call those people 21 and over rather immature. To simplify it, EVERYONE has the power to be immature.
First time drivers are familiar with their surroundings... they've been practicing driving for an entire year with their family members, they have (most likely) grown up in the same area, and probably have a pretty good sense of where things are. How is that anything like foreigners or out of state tourists in an unfamiliar place? Also... simple solution... REMOVE THE STICKER WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN THE CAR.
@novakti0n This law is very similar to the tourists.Like you said, the tourists were “gullible and vulnerable”.Wouldn’t you consider a young driver getting pulled over by a cop feels vulnerable? What if that cop made the driver get out of the car?Now they would feel very vulnerable. Now what if that person who just pulled the driver over wasn’t a cop? The teens are now gullible and vulnerable. Things like this happen all the time, but this law makes it easier for predators to find their targets.
@novakti0n Hopefully now you see the fight against this law isn’t composed of teens who are annoyed they can’t have a midnight snack, it’s composed of people who recognize the dangerous idiocy behind such a law.
the reason y it people over the age of 21 dont need it (even if they arent experience drivers) is because they are mature enough to follow the rules. my dad was hit by some 17 year old who had just gotten their license and thought itd b cool to show off and drive 3 of his friends around. now that 17 year old is pissed cuz he needs a red decal that enforces the laws he is supposed to be following anyway and im still waiting for my dad to get the fuck out the hospital.
@torched5 that sucks but when your 21 thats the drinking age and a lot of ppl 21+ drink and drive, try to act cool aswell, and just completely suck at driving
I say its fucking stupid becuase some stupid blond bitch who didn't know how to drive and crashed her car i have to suffer from it.i am am not putting a fucking decal on,it is bad enough this just fucking pisses me off, I am a good driver never crashed, and what ive seen adults who drive worse than me(they die in crashes too, I am experienced im tired of this shit, when adults say "o even if u think u are experienced u will still crash" that's horse shit, punish the stupid bitches parents not me
If she wasn't driving then why even name this law after her?. Sad to say but hundreds of people die in car accidents everyday! very sad she died yes but what makes her so special to have this special law passed in her name. It makes no sense.
@gravityhammer25 exactly couldn't have said it any better. this is just bullshit. my friends have to do this already and they get pulled over all the time for absolutely nothing. some guy could easily just put a cop siren light and where a suit and just rape some innocent person. kyleigh's mom your a fuckin dumb shit for doing this. by lowering teen accidents your gonna highten teen assualt
you are so right on. this law is simply terrible, and it is a disgrace to human rights. as for your solution, any driver over the age of 21 with those decals on their vehicles will be fined, unfortunately =/
@masterpiggy5 Thanks so much for the great comments! We really appreciate your support. Our understanding is that anyone can purchase the decals. If you're over 21, you may be stopped by a police officer if you're driving after the "curfew" for graduated drivers licenses, but I certainly don't think that you can be fined. We know being stopped is an inconvenience, but we hope that it will be short-lived, as legislators are already working hard to oppose this law. Thanks!
@torched5 I'm going to disagree with you that after the age of 17 or 18 however you want to look at it any and all US citizens have to right to operate a vehicle.
1. make shorter, more direct, to-the-point videos.
2. add some text to emphasize points/communicate information.
3. add a flashy intro/outtro, or at least some music.
just some suggestions.
as for the law, i'm definitely with you up until the recommendation that everyone buy red stickers. be realistic; your audience is pretty small, and very few people are realistically going to spend four dollars for a sticker. other than that, you've got some good arguments.
hold on, dont put the stickers on. dont ever put them on.

@torched5 true, but its still singling out a particular group of people and treating them differently than the rest
