It's like getting a lesson from Mozart, except better.
As for Natalie Portman, who cares. Actors and actresses are puppets that can be replaced with a snap of the fingers with another desperate person waiting in the wings. They're just the dolls of huge, lucrative businesses.

@3rdpug an you tell me were you heard that?don't get me wrong,it's not like i want proof but for quite a time i wanted to know natalie's opinion about paul
@CGiordano464 of course- Paul said on the Jools Holland show interview one day randomly walked into a music shop and asked if they had any left handed instruments, and they said all they had was a mandolin, so he got it learned it, and worte the song "Dance Tonight" on it. Paul plays bass, acoustic, electric guitars, trumpet was his 1st instrument so trumpet, as well as piano, upright bass (the big violin kinda one),harmonica, keyboard, drums, ukulele and probably more
@QueenBeatlesWings hum well i also guess it depends on what you mean when some ppl say do you "play" and instrument. Mandolin is an insrument that to be considered good it takes alot of effort and study. He just kinda plays chords. Id like to see him do some blue gras! but all repect for Paul to as he truely is amazing
@CGiordano464 our right- that would be cool. Paul has done all kinds of music types from pop, rock, classical, jazz, ballads, orchestras and other things but never bluegrass- although one of Paul's Beatles songs "Ive Just Seen A Face" is often played bluegrass style
@Bigfatbutterfly02 Quite a bit, but it is so much fun you learn in no time. When I first bought a ukulele, I had already know how to play "Something" for a month. The internet and especially Youtube make it so easy for you to learn any instrument. Just pull up a tutorial video and Google a mandolin chord chart just in case you need it and you are ready to go!
@Bigfatbutterfly02 wuite a bit- it's a different picking ans strumming style-different tuning- and harder. going from ukulele to guitar or vice versa is easier becuase a ukulele is exactly the same as guitar minus 2 strings. Paul just makes it look easy- he can play just about anything including regualr, electric, and base guitar, banjo, ukulele, piano, keyboard, & drums
To thebilliejean: a mandolin is tuned just like a violin starting from the thinest string E, A, D, G.......you can buy a violin "pitch pipe" at most music shops........heck, any shop that is decent will just tune it for you in about 2 minutes
I am a guitarist and it is a bitch to get used to playing a mandolin.....the neck is so damned thin....your fingers are totally crammed together....but its a great sounding instrument

She's incredibly lucky. Her looks have gotten her in the movies even though her talent probably doesn't measure up, and she gets to spend time with Paul McCartney.
I always find it pathetic when somebody hates another so much that they need to identify themselves with that person's name. How sad. Are you so lame that that your persona is nothing other than using somebody else's fame to hide your own obscurity? Also, I know many smart, beautiful women that would love to spend a night with Macca. Is that where your jealousy gets you? I doubt it.
Sir Paul teaching Natalie to play Mandolin... Hella-cool. Now, with her on mandolin, she could probably form a cover band of stuff like Zeppelin or R.E.M. :)
It sounded strange to me the mandolin played like an "ukulele", (the little hawaiian guitar) for me the mandolin must be played "sustained" tickering two strings roughly like a banjo to obtain the sustained "languid" note. But obviously everyone (non neapolitan) is free to play as he likes.
It's rather played bluegrass style. I play classical/italian style and when i heard the bluegrass playing and saw the bluegrass mandolin for the first time, i couldn't believe that's a mandolin and mandolin music. But it is indeed.
It doesn't sound that much like an ukulele. By the way, to those of you that don't know, "ukulele" is not pronounced "you-kah-lay-lee". So please stop saying it like that when you come to Hawaii. It's pronounced "ooh-ku-le-le". Mahalo, and aloha!
It's like getting a lesson from Mozart, except better.
