@kjaks Kurt Cobain wasn't a genius. Neither was John Lennon. Lennon was a great songwriter and Cobain was horribly overrated. Neither were nowhere near the same pitch as Magazine.
@blotchy67 Dude they were geniouses. Lennon was never a super great songwriter like McCartney but hell yes he was a genious. And a great person. Cobain was an asshole but hell yes one genious.
@Chaanee No. Kurt Cobain sucked. He ruined "alternative" and underground music forever, by putting punk into the top 40(after him it was Green Day and The Offspring). McCartney WAS the better songwriter in The Beatles, but it was Lennon's weirdness that made them cool. I might give you Lennon as a genius, but Cobain? No Way.My opinion as to some of the last geniuses in music were Bird Parker, Thelonious Monk, Gustav Mahler,
@blotchy67 no he did not. i am no great cobain or nirvana fan, but there is no disputing a song such as "all apologies" is one of the most touching beautiful pieces of music the modern form has heard. being deiliberately obscure to prove a point is tiresome n the extreme. Get out more.

@blotchy67 Cobain was no genius you got that right but saying he sucked is just hipster bullshit. Pearl Jam, now they suck. Nirvana aren't even alternative their just straight punk rock. Pixies are alternative and are ten times better than Nirvana. I was a never hard into Nirvana, but they had heart and soul and promoted all the great underground bands when they could. Thelonious Monk was better than Nirvana and Kurt and I even prefer listening to him rather than The Beatles
@Chaanee John Lennon was an asshole, he beat his wife, treated his first son like shit and tried to steal music from frank zappa. Great songwriter, but a total cunt
The album this song came from called Real Life is one of my top 5 all times faves. Its really worth checking out. There isnt one single bad track on it.
Great song but this version is hilariously all over the place. They did like a pint. It was a real Rickenbacker btw, I've played it. Barry had many bass guitars.
was that bass a rickenbacker? or a copy? I understand Rick copies are crap (but i can't resist to buy one, real or copy). Barry used it very well, i can't understand why did he changed to many other basses.
Class is permanent......class is permafrost.........no better post punk band.....catch them this summer at various festivals before it is too late...check out their My Space page - excellent.......... I've got this bird's eye view......
One night, i was smoking a joint in my terrace while hearing this song, and the beginning reminded me to the 80's animation series about spaceships and stuff, i could see the spaceships in that night sky! it was amazing.
Why are so many comments about Nirvana?
This is a magazine video, not a Nirvana video, or a Beatles video for that matter.

The musical sounds they produced could keep one in nirvana for days...
I just had a job 2 blocks away from where i first heard Magazine,
Freaking wondeful memories. I might almost consent to going back.
The first time this hits your ears...
oh my God. have i aged that much? :-(((

Sorry Anne it was Dave Tomlinson aka Dave Formula. He owned a studio called the Strongroom in Landan and was a good northerner gone bad in the saaath.
Trippy tune though

'Punk' was just a desperate label on the part of the media to try identify the unfamiliarity that finally unleashed upon the world.
