  • i watch these videos and i don't even go camping

  • 6 minutes and 42 seconds too long. I skipped through most of it, just too dull.

  • dryer lint works sometimes but the air has to be tundra dry.

  • It was invented by the Chinese. Amazon natives are still naked.

  • way to make a 10 min discussion over something that can be explained in like 2 then you could train a monkey yo do it in like 5 more mins.

  • just to let you know the threaded end is so you can put a shifter knob on it

  • so ok now im looking to buy any ideas on where to buy a metal one?

  • ive never even heard of a fire piston thanks for sharing i might buy one

  • 5:53 =3

  • i wonder what was originally in that bag jeff ;)

  • im just blowing on this trololololololol

  • in every video why do i hear the door bell?

  • do you have any videos on how to make a fire starter like this?

  • I think your problem is you're pulling out too soon. Pulling out is very important, and some people that really need to pull out don't, but if you pull out too soon you might as well not put it in at all. Apply this advice to every aspect of your life :D

  • gee iv never come across this b4 wow, love it thanks

keep them comeing love the vids

  • Lube, bunghole, piston, ovum, pack it in the tip, I'm just blowing on it. It just barely fits into the base. Is this some kinda underground video? You have soft looking hands.

  • *takes it behind camera and lites it* "See I got an ember"

  • are you a drug dealer? why is the doorbell ringing in every singel vid of yours??? :D

  • and im just blowin on this lol

  • its an ember!

  • Lol the flop sound is cool as you pull it out of the chamber :D

  • Witch! Burn Him. Uh, can you make fire again so we can light a fire?

  • this is a nice fire but i bought a rose mountain and the top of the main body broke.

  • i like

  • nice way to start a fire, i will give it a try! btw the guy who invented the diesel engine was... rudolph diesel ;))

  • 4:10 for people who want to see fire...

  • Nice. I've been planning on making one of these, but it looks like I'll need a lathe to create the notch for the O ring.

  • We use to make Cherry Poppers out off reeds every spring before the wild cherries began to ripen. Push a green cherry in both ends to start .Cut the plunger the size of a cherry short of the barrel end. Push smartly and BANG! compete with smoke lol. The seed you pushed with the plunder is now in position to be the next fired.Caution as with any Air gun your victim must wear eye protection, however, I've never know a cherry to break the skin. BIG Ouch!!! lol. No O-ring required..

  • good videos

  • the fire piston that i have u could keep the o-ring on it and store the plunge upside down

  • 10 min is not short

  • @fierwall5 I have some hour long videos

  • Lame, cheat...

  • ember amber there both correct it is just the dialect used to say them i use the interchangably and acording to my english teacher as i said they are both right it is your dialect (speaking pronuociation of words accented)

  • @zingzangzap Yes, they are both correct, they just mean different things. One is a smoldering piece of something and the other is petrified tree sap. Tell your teacher to look it up.Tip: Never assume that the teacher is correct. If you really want to know something, do a bit of research.

  • This is useful , but i rather carry around a Zippo :D

  • Run your knife blade along your jeans shaving lint off. Use that, it's the best tinder I've found yet.

  • It was used by malay and siamese tribes, not amazonian. It was also discovered independently in 1801 by an english gunsmith.

Also it was Rudolph Diesel who invented the diesel engine in 1893.

  • love it! never seen one. but I think Il stick with my firesteel

  • Dude, I have no idea why, but I'm so interested in random, normally boring shit like this. Love your vids, and keep making them.

  • @JakeEricson xD You and I think alike.

  • It would seem that an ordinary, non-expensive, flint, or ferrocerium rod, would be much more intuitive. You scrape a piece of metal along it, create many more sparks, and you can do that straight into a much larger amount of tinder. And plus, you can find a ferrocerium rod for, like, $10, easily. I've seen some at Cabela's for $3.99.

  • Someone should invent some little sticks about 2 inches long with some chemicals on the end that you could strike on a rock and produce fire. I would name them "matches".

  • amber - fossilized tree resin

ember - combustion that precedes a fire

Amazing how one letter makes such a big difference.

  • im gonna make 1 of these in my metals class

  • so that's what a fire piston is!

  • at first i thought it was a metal tampon lol.... and im a guy and yes ik what a tampon looks like cuz my friend stuck one up his nose cuz he got a nose bleed lol....

  • @BIILYBOB999 Sounds like a smart guy

  • @Kris35Productions lol he was till he got drunk off his ass, used drugs and dropped out of highschool....

  • @BIILYBOB999 hogan

  • @Kris35Productions A prophet even.

  • He sounded drunk wen he was blowin :P

  • ya,puta madre,maricon,you too must learn to speak spanish,but me i understand english,cabron,,maisa ka nga takki,tabbell,

  • how to tighten the lid of the zippo

  • do you bump the camera with your arms? or do you have a third arm thats shaky?

  • How far back has the fire piston been used. Seems to be quite a complex device.

  • @J0Gu7 Hundred of years ago. Some European guy discovered it from the Malaysian people 200 years ago, which makes me wonder how they discovered that rapidly compressing air superheats it...

  • @shigshwa interesting question. I would say trial, error and luck. looking at things and thinking about them. maybe not knowing every detail about the process but enough to inspire creativity with it. Thats how people used to learn stuff.

  • @hobogasm And they don't any more?

  • 4:26 - 4:35 you mean that's it's going to oxidate that's all. ^^

    nice review, as always

  • i thik a peanut lighter is a better survival lighter

  • Cool, is there a limit for how many times you can use this until the you need new parts for it?

  • i made one out of a medicine squirter i get some smoke but nothinig else

  • Do you need to use char cloth? Could you use some tinder? In other words...would this be a good survival fire starting tool?

  • haha im a 15 year old boy who wants to make a fire my parents and friends say i have the attitude i can make a fire its just that i dont have the right tools is there any flint sticks in calgary that are cheap and efficiant?

  • lol the creator of the diesel engine was.... wait for it.... Mr Diesel, Rudolf Diesel

  • u need more lube on it too much air was escaping around the oring.. the lube isnt to reduce the friction its to make a perfect seal.... Diesel engine was invented by Rudolph Diesel... his fuel of choice was peanut oil. nice fire piston!

  • wat about crushed pine needles

  • The Little Pop when you pull it out just makes me laugh every time..

  • why not use a lighter or matches? like its much easier

  • @xxxjimbo1994xxx It's just and alternative to those, as lighting a match or lighter is hard in high wind and with the ember you can transfer it from pile to pile.

Also matches and lighters run out even on a wet day in the forest you can find fuel for your fire piston.

  • dildo...

  • @shidoink FROM THE FUTURE!!!

  • Hey man, who are you on Blade Forums? You know Esteban from TiSurvival (Exodus125)? Got one of his Titanium fire pistons. Great work, and the best customer service ever. Check him out man!

  • You sure got some AWESOME video's!

  • get a lighter.

  • long winded Mate! but it's still a good vid....

  • or you can just use one of your many zippos

  • Van Desel

  • Seems to me it would be cheaper and much easier to just carry a few matches.

  • whoever first thought of this is a damn genius

  • True Gottleib Daimler was inspired by this method for diesel engines shown by east asian tribes

  • dsdsdsds

  • always make sure to keep your plunger lubed.

  • Interesting stuff... but from a basic Physics point of view the material - in this case Aluminium - can't be much help in keeping the heat in the char-cloth? Maybe a high tech insulating material would be better?

  • *crack pop* lol thnx for tutorial

  • "It's gonna light your tinder."

    thats what she said

  • lights up super fast with flash cotton

  • yes ur right it was seen by the man who made the diesel engine his name was Rudolph Diesel

  • pretty cool it's no bic but way cool .

  • the man who invented the diesel engine ,was a german man called diesel .

  • prolisso

  • this is a long vidio on how...

  • or you could put the plunger in the other direction

  • the sme way a diesel engine works

  • Is cooking oil a good lubricant?

  • I doubt cooking oil would have the viscosity to form a solid seal. Something thicker, like petroleum jelly would be best.

    I'm no expert though.

  • Which do you suppose is more important--the lubrication, putting on the o-ring correctly, or pulling out at just the right moment? Like you said, if you don't know how to use your tool correctly, what good is it?

  • lol its gonna burn like fire

  • HE MADE FIRE!!!

  • @superdre44 What is this "Fire", you speak of?

  • @whitezombie00 advanced speaking, you are.me like:)

  • nice

  • cat tail seed head. almost like cotton.

  • its cool

  • >.> He knows a hell of a lot about this. Rofl.

  • if your not into primitive fire makign yes itsa boring just liek I woudlnt want to watch a 9 minute video on makeup../..

  • im wiht you, but makeup is pretty random lol

  • @cutlerylover Hey don't diss makeup! Makeup is fun!!!$%#@

    LOL!! jk. x3

  • @cutlerylover fuck up men,what is this a boyscout.hhhmmnn i think your to late

  • @cutlerylover fuck up men, what is this a boyscout.hhhmmnn i think your to late, its so simple men, every outing just always, dont 4get to bring a magnifying glass, you can do it a lot of fire on it,hah haaa, moron, your just crossifying your self with that,im realy sure

  • @joel80435 be quiet you dirty spaniard. learn some english.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 lets not be racist.

    don't feed the troll.

  • @GraffitiFreak23 im not trying to be racist or stereotype. Spaniards are actually a great race of people, but its evident that if you watch his video he is in fact, a dirty spaniard

  • @NarutoFireFox84 well I will say he's being a bit hypocritical considering he has a video of him with his shitty homemade airgun. He has no reason to criticize this video.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 hmmm, as far as I'm concerned, Spaniard is a nationality, not a race...

and as far as I'm concerned too, they are white.

  • @luciferiexcelsil You are quite correct. So many people just look for something to be "offended" by and don't even have a clue what they are talking about.

  • @NarutoFireFox84 ....cont.

    Joel80435 is evidently Asian.

confusing a western European with a south east asian... lol.

no sure how Americans manage to do that.

  • @luciferiexcelsil Well, excuse me for confusing that. Im not american anyway, im australian

  • @NarutoFireFox84 oh okay,

    sorry then,

I said that because usually Americans commit that error more than any other.

  • @luciferiexcelsil i agree

  • @joel80435 God dammit a cloud! My magnifying glass is thwarted!

  • Exactly, if you're here to whine then gtfo

  • @Mouglie7 eat a dick. your the one who clicked on the video, not us.

  • You can ues birch bark, which peels off the tree very easily. The oils in it cause the bark to spark, muck like magnesium shavings. They don't spark like crazy, but they do give the reason the peelings are nicknamed "Birch Spark". It most likely better to light the shavings with a normal lighter though, as I have never done it with a fire piston.

  • amber is a type of fossilized sap....ember is what ur talking about...just saying cause amber is actually another word..

  • could you post the micrometer measurements of that fire piston

    Thanks

  • some tree barks also have oil in them that make them easy to start even when wet, birch I think... IDK the one that flakes off kinda like paper. sorry I'm not great with names but I can ID it if I see it, guess thats what really matters.

  • In case you were trying to remember who invented the diesel engine ..

In 1898, Rudolf Diesel was granted patent #608,845 for an "internal combustion engine" the Diesel engine.

  • Put diesel fuel in it and it'll shoot the plunger back out at you :P lol

  • somebody desil (thats his last name)

  • @StrykingHawk

a strand of bark wrapped around piston

with a bit of water right before use to swell the fiber is one way they used.

  • What's the name of the tinder?

  • @ivomayer charcloth is what he used he also mentioned tinder fungus. there are several good choices out there

  • Hi ralfhewp! Thanks a lot! As I'm Italian, I did not understood very well that word :)

Thanks again and have a nice Xmas!

  • charred cloth

  • put ants in it

  • what happened to rudolf diesel?

  • hmm, wonder what the name of the guys was that invented the diesel engine...

  • Dude would u mind making video where u acctually make fire with all equipment u got?

  • Ember - Glowing blaha.

Amber - Stuff you can make jewlery out of.

  • @brejso Amber: shit that grows on acient trees made of sabia than can capture all kind of stuff like insects, leafes, etc inside.

  • - Wich you can make jewels out of :)

  • yeah! I was just adding more shit

  • SOOO many sexual jokes one could make there

  • good stuff! Just an idea, couldn't you actually store the o-ring on the top ribbed part of the piston? You could even throw a few more on for spares. Might not be machined the same size, but from what i can see, it looks like it. Also just subscribed to your channel, Awesome videos man. Keep it up!

  • very interesting... and a very calm voice you´ve got... you would make a good teacher ;)

  • Thanks

  • isn't it the vacuum that makes the heat?

  • no. that's forcing rapidly air into a smaller place, causes friction between air molecules, heat.

  • ah ok

  • One guy makes a titanium fire piston.

  • a guy on candlepowerforums

  • dude i dont wanna sound idiot or ga but i love ur videos:) 5\5

  • hey dude, could you do a permante match video?

  • "Uh, I believe its called the ovum. O-V-U-M."

  • Creator diesel engine is Rudolf Diesel... nice vid though :P

  • what brand is it i want to buy that same kind

  • Well it would be even easier to use a lighter or a match, but that's not the point is it? It's just interesting to try different things.

  • This is something you might keep in an emergency kit. Your matches won't light, your lighter is out of fluid, or you don't even have them. I personally feel this is a little silly, but i've used firesteels with great success.

  • not rly this will last probly forever if you take good care of it flint/steel wont

  • diesel engines don't use spark plugs but they do use glow plugs to aid in the heating of the cylinder after which the engine will auto ignite once a pressure threshhold is surpassed.

  • Thanks for breaking it down. I just learned about these things from Les Stroud

  • What happens if you put diesel or oil in it?

  • I dont know, never tried it, haha, bnut in the diesal engine the pistons create a spark but the fuel is ina seperate area of the engine so its not like in an engine the fuel is in the piston, so maybe notngn woudl happen, but I really dont know..

  • If you put oil or diesel in the back of a pellet and put it in a spring piston air rifle its gunna ignite

  • @cutlerylover in a desiel engine the compretion of air space creats heat igniting the fuel so therareticaly it will work

  • @cutlerylover theoretically it would be the same, the fuel is just above the piston in the cylinder and self-ignites due to compression and heat without any kind of electrical or mechanical ignition from the engine. however i dont think that putting diesel in this fire piston would have result as it would be impossible to generate the compression needed to self-ignite it, we are not THAT strong to push THAT hard.... cheers!!!!

  • @abuklashinkov Diesel oil needs to heat up before it can ignite. Or/and compressed. That's what happens in engines

  • A metal tampon.... FROM THE FUTURE!!!!

  • lol

  • Good video.

It kinda looks like a metal tampon. o.o
